Interesting that a couple of Abrams users (Iraq & Egypt) have placed orders for the T-90.....Does this suggest that the Russians are willing to export more capable versions of their MBTs than the US or is there something else at play?
Consider that my token effort to get this thread vaguely back on track.
Something tells me that Iraq and Egypt were not considering ONLY capability of the tanks while placing the orders, already existing logistics and training facilities/capabilities might have been at play (esp. in Iraq). That is not to say that the particular T-90's are less capable the particular Abrams, I have no knowledge of that.

Ok, if you're going to post stuff, you should probably have a slight idea as to what it is you are posting.
The United States has over 4,000 Abrams in its active inventory. The Russians have less than 1,000 operational T-90s.
The meme of red hordes died a long time ago. Continuing to base all future conflicts on this assumption is both ignorant and embarrassingly wrong.
The West, specifically the United States, has both a quantitative and qualitative advantage over the Russian military. This has been the case for decades now.
Please, please let this terrible meme end.

Now, I know that only T-90's and Armatas were OP's subject, but in general, I wouldn't say that red hordes meme is dead; and, while surely liked by many on this board, I don't think your statement of US having a quantitative advantage over Russia is entirely accurate (even if you realistically half the number of Russian tanks in active service, as some other sources suggest).

One DIY workaround I found was to use mdr and LOD mdr’s for bmp 2 & 2k from 1.03 and 1.00 respectively; however, I suspect that rolls back the behavioral changes for those IFV’s implemented in 1.04 and thus, defeats the purpose of the patch. Looks nice tho
Only if I could pinpoint which files are responsible for behavior and which ones for the looks (if thats even how it works)...

That's because Battlefront changed some of the textures for 1.04, and Kieme didn't update his modes.
Yea they changed it from 512x512 to 1024x512. It is a pain in the ass to fix in paint and my photoshop skills are 0

Ah I see
This is just my speculation but I think they used them in Berlin not to get blasted by the Red Army Air Force, while in Czechoslovakia was possibly their first (expected) encounter with similar-looking vehicles. Might be wrong though.
-
@Sgt.Squarehead I'm missing your point?

Its Kieme's BMP, nothing else.
I see; his bmp-2 turrets do not look right when used on 1.04 or above (battlefront changed the size), while yours do, I might be blind though
-
Btw, if I may ask, is this a pre 1.04 version of the game or did you tweak Kieme's BMP turret textures (are they even Kieme's)?

Check this:
I'm not sure this is what you meant, but I just double checked and "Leader: Spotting" and Open up command appear even for the 2nd squad (the one whose leader is NOT in the commander seat).

Damn! This is T-72B3, captured 26 Aug 2014 by Ukrainian troops near Ilovaisk - for identification our soldiers painted it with UKR white stripes! Check, please, what you post and write here in order to not confuse others! Separatist forces never used white stripes, except some cases of using our captured vehicles. In some cases they were repainting UKR white stripes with saturated green color.
After a bit of googling on the russian side of the web, it seems that some people are of the opinion that 1 stripe - Russian, 2 stripes - Ukrainian, supposedly the one stripe is an old habit from '68 in Czechoslovakia. However, there does not seem to be many photos to prove that, so it might be just a myth.

It's easy to tell for certain squads/fire teams (platoon/company commanders, B fire teams, snipers, rpg teams, etc.) - when they are dismounted, the leader will have a certain subtitle (or whatever you call the text under the weapon icon) other than "Ldr." ("Commander", "Assistant", "Marksman" or whatever), if it changes to "Ldr" when boarded, that means they assumed the vehicle commander position. However, it's not that easy with your average squad, where even when dismounted, the leaders have "Ldr." subtitle. No need to dismount driver/gunner either way.
I wonder if anyone knows, whether commander not being in the same platoon or even company as the driver/gunner has any effect on how they communicate (spotted targets) within the vehicle.
-
Nice one! May I suggest hitting alt-L next time though
-
Yea I figured that part out, was just wondering whether it only applies to BMP's or there are others as well
-
Sorry for kind of off topic, couldn't find a more appropriate thread. Does having a commander in an MT-LB(M whatever) add the same spotting bonus as in BMP's? Are there any other vehicles where this might apply, like maybe M3A3 since it's only gunner and driver by default?
Also I'm sure this has been suggested multiple times, but I would love the option to split the squad commander in a future update

I was referring to them being Chinese irl (rather than Finns), but you never know indeed. You sound like you know a few things about Kung Fu in WW1 though.
-
Surprisingly, it's more or less "historical" in that regard
-
I know I'm late to the party, but I have to say that these mods are the best. I sure hope everything is alright with Kieme, I hope he makes a come-back one day. 100% second the patreon idea. The absence of green BRM-3K is OCD-inducing
-
Thanks!
I've only seen bits of the movie here and there myself, but I guess the bad guys in that clip are WW1 Germans, the Japanese appear later on. Now that you say that, it somehow does look like a typical Stalingrad scene.
-
@John Kettler That clip is from "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen", more of a martial arts film than a war movie. Still funny in this context though

Looks impressive!

This is just a guess, but I believe those containers might be recycled from older K-1's and look like this on the inside?
-
I find the fast recognition lines stuff quite interesting as well, seeing how both sides use it. Are there some sort of accepted rules for it? (as in maybe ru side uses 2 stripes and ukr side uses one)
-
That's quite realistic too, I imagine (for an alternative universe that CMBS is), no? Better be ready for armor and face infantry only than the other way around

I did suppose their figures are inaccurate, seeing how other sources seem to be placing it at 10k (suggested in the post). Do you have a source to disprove my point though?
