  1. A few days ago I got my electricity bill for the three months that have gone by and was shocked that they expect me to pay ~£60 although I doubt that I have used more electricity since the last time I payed for the electricity.

To get hot water and to prepare food I use gas. The electricity runs the lamps, the fridge, the computer and the gas boiler.

I haven't bothered about getting internet and I don't play very much on my computer and usually use it for watching films and reading something I have downloaded from the internet I use at work, the library, the pub or through some other open wifi.

The energy price cap - the maximum amount suppliers can charge customers in England, Scotland and Wales for each unit of energy - will go up in October.

Energy industry analysts Cornwall Insight predict an average annual bill will reach £3,582 at this point - £200 higher than the previous estimate.

And in January 2023, the next time the cap is due to be changed, it expects it to go up again to £4,266.

I know that a computer usually doesn't use very much electricity. But if the computer is a gaming computer with a top-notch graphics card the use of electricity when playing more modern games will most likely go up.

Those of you who live in the UK, and those of you who live in another country but also risk getting much higher energy bills, are you planning to play less computer games and start reading more than you do now or have you decided to wait and see?

  2. It seems that some people judge this game as "useless" or similar and give up trying to figure out how to play it successfully when the only reason to why it doesn't work for them is that they're too lazy to even try enough.

It's just like someone who says a book is bad or stupid only because they haven't given themselves the time enough to learn how to read before they expected the book to contain easily understandable pictures.

this is why I think WW2 titles would be better with early war (1939-1942). I think that lower lethality results in more tactical game play and it's why I think Combat Mission would be well-served by starting to focus on this part of the war.

How would the early war time period affect game play when a veteran in the early war period, been fighting for three months, would be just as much a veteran as in the 1944 games in the same game engine and a fanatic in a 1940 game would be just as much a fanatic as in a 1944 game using the same engine?

...according to the video description is coming out in December?... Hope he can somehow defy the odds and pull it off though.

I think he said that he hoped that an alfa version would be out in December and not the full version of the game.

It will be interesting to go to that redit thread in November to find out how things are going.

Besides I am not sure if it is cool to promote other games on this form.

Why shouldn't it be? If Battlefront is worried about competition they will have a good reason to improve their game engine or even make a new and much better one. They can also decide not to care about it as they understand that competition about the gamers is a part of their business.

    You achieve this by splitting.

Splitting troops don't make them walk in single file. There is always two or more soldiers walking to the left or right which often makes it risky to have one or two squads walk along a narrow area with slopes on both sides.

And the same with having them walk in a wide formation. They seem to move in a diamond formation, or something, instead of in a wide formation.

We all play to have some fun.

I have watched a few videos of this game by the youtuber Tonci87 and he sure enjoys playing Mius Front. It seems that the orders you give to your troops are a bit more advanced than what we have in Combat Mission, which seems to be a problem for some people that expect something like Men of War or similar, but that is possibly making the game feel more correct.

I have often wondered why there's no option to order the troops to walk in single line or on a wide formation in CM. And in CM there's also no option to order the troops to move forward and to tell them where to run if they are being shot at. When playing wego that kind of option isn't necessary but it could be useful for those that play real time.

If my laptop can play this game I'll try it out and I am sure I'll have fun with it. From what I have seen from the videos by Tonci87 it seems Battlefront could learn a lot from Graviteam if they decide to make a new game engine.

Making gifs is a long obnoxious process that involves recording the video in game, editing/cropping it down, then using an online gif coverter tool to actually make the gif.

If you have a Samsung 7 phone, probably works with other so called smart phones too, you can make a gif from a part of a video in the phone's videoplayer. It's a very quick process.

We're still planning on doing an Engine 5 Upgrade that focuses on performance improvements.  No firm idea when this will be ready to talk about more, not to mention when we'll release it.  Oh, and it will be a free Upgrade this time around.

I hope this performance improvement mean that all games will be able to have maps larger than 18 square kilometers being made in the editor and played on as scenarios.

Larger maps for scenarios would be better for the modern day games but would also be great for the WW2 ones.

I know that a lot of people don't like scenarios larger than platoon size but there are also those, I included, that would like to be able to play scenarios that are able to have a whole regiment on the map from the start without performance issues. Unfortunately the map size requirements don't allow for that to happen at the moment.

  10. It doesn't relate to Ukraine in any way other than the Ukraine people fight in when they play the game Black Sea.

His words "Another writeup for those of you who can pry yourselves from the Ukraine thread" means that he expects people to be busy reading the thread How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get. And if some have decided to take a break from that thread, they might want to discuss the article he's linking to in this thread and also to discuss the workflow for planning how to play a scenario in any Combat Mission game.

That's at least how I understand the first post in this thread.

No less than 17,247 men have died fighting as members of the LPR military, and another 8,931 were wounded.

This must be the number of dead and wounded since they decided to go independent in Luhansk. It seems a bit too large number if counted since the Rus invasion in February.

Lindybeige to promote the course to try to reach those casual players

Does Lindybeige play the Combat Mission games? I thought he was more interested in large board games. But as the Combat Mission games are based on a board game (or even more than one) it's of course possible that he does play at least one of them.

I like the few videos that I've watched on his youtube channel. But I have never watched one where he talks about Combat Mission or any other video game.
