  1. Yes quite a few, but they are interspersed amongst the chapters in paragraphs to help illustrate the various topics being discussed rather than being entire chapter accounts. If you have a kindle it says the kindle version is really cheap, and you can preview it with the ‘look inside’ feature on Amazon so you perhaps can preview a little of it. I really can’t recommend the book enough if you want to really get deep into understanding how things were organised and fought.
  2. I can recommend this account of a platoon commander in the 15th Scottish Infantry Division, it’s quite beautifully written and the experience of Operation Epsom is bleak and harrowing (I picked it up to read after recently completing the Scottish Corridor campaign in CMBN) https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23534415-lion-rampant This is an excellent Sherman Tank commander memoir, what I particularly like is the author goes into Normandy as a green replacement so you get a matching viewpoint as you read along. The audiobook on Audible is really good too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Action-Armoured-Commanders-1944-45-ebook/dp/B01BT3Z9WK Final recommendation is this book, which is slightly heavier than a pure memoir, but goes into forensic detail how all the different branches of the Canadian and British armies got through the Normandy campaign. If you want real specifics of how things were organised and fought on the ground I think it’s pretty great. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stout-Hearts-British-Canadians-Normandy/dp/1909982555 (It’s quite a thick and large book so the paperback is your most reasonable option)
  3. Thanks all, and agreed - its such a good mod. Especially for the immersion down at the ground level. @Aragorn2002 which foliage mod is that? I have some foliage helmets as part of Veins CW infantry mod which I'm using, is that the same? And @Lucky_Strike you hit the nail on the head with the E-Type mention in terms of the shape I like about the Marder, although perhaps not as glamourous a vehicle
  4. I've always really liked the look of the Marder III, something to do with its far back on its frame, antitank gun on wheels feel. So I was excited to see one pop up in the Road to Montebourg campaign earlier (although my Paratroopers didn't let it last long!)
  5. Thanks all for the definitive testing and answers that it is a hardcoded omission and not something that can be user added. A shame! and yes I agree with you @kohlenklau it would be nice now we have R2V to have them return, as well as just making the infantry look consistent across the various WWII titles (as well as within CMFI where the other nations troops have lots of gear). Maybe if we are lucky in a patch one day?
  6. Hi all - thanks in advance for any help. Bit of a niche issue - I'm having issues with (lack of) trees swaying in the wind which is an effect I like and want to see more of. I have the advanced tree setting to high, models and textures to improved and best so I think in theory they should be swaying right? When I first load into a map (with windy conditions) I barely see any tree sway at all, just the tall grass swaying. If I move the camera right up to a tree or zoom in one one, it kind of activates those one or two trees to start swaying, but for the most part when looking at a wooded area most are still. Is that normal? I feel like on Youtube AAR I see lots of trees swaying and it looks great. I have Nvidia control panel settings on the most common forum recommended settings but wondered if any of them can affect the tree sway rendering?
  7. Appreciate the feature and hosting the mod! Thanks for all your support in the community too
  8. Thank you for the update and for trying regardless! Appreciate the effort. I attempted something along the lines you mentioned with some renaming of the skeleton files after copying across from CMBN but likewise in game nothing changed. Assumed I had probably done the process wrong but if you had the same outcome then I guess it’s not possible. Thanks again though, to be fair it’s probably not that immersion breaking that infantry would attack without combat packs in the hot Italian sun..
  9. Unfortunately after installing your mod one of the problems I'm having is that I'm barely playing the game but instead inching around at ground height taking photos of the action in the hedgerows for hours on end! In all seriousness though, the difference in the atmosphere and visual depth is pretty astounding so thanks again for making it
  10. Thanks for the spot, I eyeballed it whilst doing earlier but I think I got a bit carried away adjusting the text slightly over the map markings resulting in them being a bit off centre which I agree isn't great! I have redone the CMBN and CMFB ones and centred the text as much as possible. Have also added CMFI and CMRT (the menu in these games seems to be lower placed so they have slightly different layouts.) Will do the modern titles another weekend As above grab them all on on Dropbox here > https://www.dropbox.com/sh/thquh9eho9moww8/AACz2okbQ1BxvHbfyBEPB1KCa?dl=0 Out of curiosity where is best to post the completed set? In the General CM Mod tips sub forum, or on the Mod Warehouse website? I also notice I can't edit my original post in this thread to change the preview images - is that something a Moderator can do for me or are the original posts locked forever after a certain time? (long long time lurker but only recent poster so apologies for being unsure how best things work here!) Thanks all, enjoy your wargaming.
  11. Added a version for CMFB, and will try to add the rest for the other games over the next week or two. Its really quick to make because I have all the templates set up... Think it will look nice as a series across all the games: All in the dropbox folder here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/thquh9eho9moww8/AACz2okbQ1BxvHbfyBEPB1KCa?dl=0
  12. Cheers all, glad you like it. One 3rd and final version added to the dropbox folder above, which is the green text version but with the map resized so you get the full image with borders, as well as the square rather than rounded menu box which I think I prefer.
  13. Hello folks, I was messing around in an image program earlier whilst editing some screenshots and decided to have a very quick go at a minimalistic splash/menu screen using a map of the Normandy invasions. Thought I'd share on the off chance anyone likes the look of it. There are two options: A] B] And a dropbox link to download: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/thquh9eho9moww8/AACz2okbQ1BxvHbfyBEPB1KCa?dl=0
  14. Thanks! Here is one more: A Firefly waits in a hull down overwatch position overlooking the eastern outskirts of Buron, having just knocked out a German Jagdpanzer
  15. Thank you so much, I certainly can wait and would be greatly appreciative of your help/expertise, lest I accidentally copy the wrong skeleton file and do all manner of damage. So thank you very much for the kind offer of help and no rush at all.
  16. Thanks both - this seems along the lines of what I was hoping to do. Not create any new 3D Models from scratch like a different type of backpack, but merely locate and copy the US Infantry model from CM:BN and place it within CM:FI. So is the skeleton file what determines the actual character model that the skins/textures go on? If so then potentially copying that from CM:BN to CM:FI might work?
  17. Thanks for offering to help Erwin, apologies for not clearly explaining what I was asking. To hopefully help clarify, I'm familiar with mod folders and both my games are modded with custom skins. But I think CM:FI differs from BM:BN in that the US infantry in game 3D model doesn't have a backpack on the actual model. So unmodded or even with modded textures my soldiers don't have a backpack on like they do in CM:BN (and like the British/Italian/German troops have in CM:FI.) This seems to be the case in that thread above so I assume it is the same for everyones' CM:FI game. So what I'm asking is is it possible to copy either the base infantry model (or the backpack model if it is a separate thing) from CM:BN into CM:FI?
  18. Hi all - apologies if this isn't the correct forum to ask. I was wondering if it possible to copy the US infantry combat pack that shows up on my troops in CM:BN and get it across to CM:FI? And if this is possible I would really appreciate some advice on how to do it (assuming it isn't massively more complex than your general CM modding/Z folder shenanigans.) Or is it hard coded to not appear and not editable? I searched and found this old thread where someone asked similar but it sort of fizzled out without a resolution. I understand there is some debate about the amount of gear a solider would have in combat in the hot climate, but with all the other forces in the game having a degree of gear I find it a little noticeable whenever I take control of the US and they are just wearing shirts with the odd pouch. Thanks in advance for any help!
  19. Thanks! I just discovered and installed your Hedgerow Hell mod and I think its going to make my screenshots (and general enjoyment playing the game) go up a level further. Insane work, thanks for all the effort that it must have taken.
  20. One more screenshot I liked from this campaign, which I finished yesterday with a minor victory. Really happy with how I've got my Reshade preset looking and with all the amazing mods out there you can get the visuals looking pretty nice I think
  21. During a rollercoaster year, one thing that has kept me happily distracted and occupied has been CM:BN and Paper Tiger's incredible Scottish Corridor campaign. Has been great fun commanding (and often cursing at!) the slow and lumbering Churchills seen below..
  22. Despite mounting losses, Russian troops are ordered to hold the line at all cost… (The SU-76 in the background was knocked out seconds before this was taken) Click the image to view a large version
  23. Little photoshop edit of my Russian infantry preparing to move out. P.s. First post here - long time reader and fan of the CM series - great to be back on the Eastern front after all these years!
