The green reflective armband was something I spotted Rosgvardiya troops wearing whilst garrisoning one of the captured NPPs- specifically the Zaporizhzhia plant, if I remember correctly. Admittedly, it isn't one-to-one accurate, which usually look like the image below, but it was the best I could mock-up at the time. Also, the red armbands seem to only be worn by LDNR (Separatist) formations, although they also tend to just wear white armbands too. Hope this clears that up.

     Thank you.

    Russian National Guard 'Rosgvardiya' Mod

This mod depicts forces of the Russian National Guard, adding a variety of ATACS and VBKO/Ratnik uniforms, alongside appropriate vests, helmets, armbands/legbands, and ribbons. @Sophist_13's helmet and buttpack mods are included in this pack- with the mod requiring his helmet mod to be able to work, though his buttpack mod is not necessary.

What is the story behind the green armbands?  Is it an armband that it something the Rosgvardiya wear?  I did a brief look around at images on-line and found lots of white and some red armbands for Russian forces.  I think the red armbands might be specific to units in the Donbass area?  I was just curious.  Great mod.

I know that in WWII titles the experience of the artillery and FO speed up the time of the barrage arrival. So far I don't really see the same effect in CMBS. So, my question is what does the experience for FO and experience for the artillery do in CMBS?

You might find the below interesting.  It was copied from the below linked topic which contains more information on the subject.

In CM Battle for Normandy v3.11 Engine 3 I had the following teams request fire support from the same 105mm howitzer battery both in and out of the command track.  All teams had the same soft factors, Experience: veteran / Motivation: normal / Leadership 0 / Fitness: fit.  The following are the results.

                                       Back Pack Radio                     SPW 251/3

German Bn. HQ           14 minutes                             14 minutes

German Co. HQ           14 minutes                             14 minutes

German Plt. HQ           14 minutes                             14 minutes

German FO                    9 minutes                               9 minutes

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In CM Black Sea v1.00 Engine 3 I had the following teams request fire support from the same 105mm howitzer battery both in and out of the command track.  All teams had the same soft factors, Experience: veteran / Motivation: normal / Leadership 0 / Fitness: fit.  The following are the results.

                                        Radio /PDA                     Stryker Cmd. Veh.

US BN. HQ                 10 minutes                             9 minutes

US Co. HQ                  10 minutes                             9 minutes

US Plt. HQ                  10 minutes                             9 minutes

US FO                           6 minutes                             5 minutes

It would appear there is no advantage to using command vehicles in CMBN.  However there is a small advantage to using them in CMBS.  Different level HQ units in both games appear to have the same call times however Forward Observers are quicker.  Not the way I thought it worked but unless I am missing something that appears to be the way it is.

Following up:  In CM Battle for Normandy v3.11 Engine 3 I had US Platoon HQ teams request fire support from the same 105mm howitzer battery.  All teams had the same soft factors with the exception of experience.  Motivation: normal / Leadership 0 / Fitness: fit.  The following are the results.

    Elite          13 minutes

    Crack        13 minutes

    Veteran     13 minutes

    Regular     13 minutes

    Green        15 minutes

    Conscript  18 minutes

I won't lie, this update took way to long to put out. I'm just a lazy piece of ****, there honestly isn't really a good excuse. The good news though is that I am almost done with this write up, and I've definitely found it to be fun again. There will be one more post to conclude in the next week or so. Stay tuned for unimpeded slaughter of SLA scum!

+1.  You do a very good job with this AAR.  It is well worth the wait.

I'm trying to figure out why there's so much discussion in the forum about C2 limits.

Am i missing something, or is option 2 the 'gentleman realist' approach to CM?

IMO the below house rules (hard cat rules) developed by Bil & IanL are very useful.  This is what I use.  I sometimes add my own modifications to the rules when I want to test a new idea.   Hard Cat Rules v2 is a good place to start.

I also made a CMRT scenario (mini-campaign) Alarmeinheiten that features runners assigned to each infantry platoon to facilitate C2 when using Hard Cat Rules v2.

Why is it allowed in CMFB but not CMBN when it's the same war and theater?

Tank riding was a feature that was not added until Red Thunder.  The effort was Probably made to add it to CMRT because Soviet tank riding was such a big part of the war on the Eastern Front.  CMFB came out after CMRT with fewer vehicles than CMBN had at that point.  I think it would be a lot of work to go back and create all the artwork, animations and coding for every troop type and vehicle type in CMBN and/or CMFI.  That would be a huge effort at this point.  I wish CMBN & CMFI had riders but it would be a massive amount of work.  The amount of time/expense/work probably plays a role in why riders have not been added.

Russian BMDs, 7 vehicles, abandoned yesterday near Mykolaiv. This was an artillery strike - even close hits forces Russians to disembark and fled. Not all could do it, but I will not post other video with Russian airbornes bodies

Since they did not quickly drive away after the artillery started I suspect that most were outside the vehicles.  Maybe receiving an OpOrder / eating / sleeping / defecating / vehicles out of gas etc.  If there was spotting rounds fired (I would guess there was) they ignored them?  Or maybe they were so fatigued they didn't realize that those explosions were spotting rounds?  Then the fire for effect caught them outside the vehicles with the vehicle hatches open.  With many of the vehicle drivers and NCOs as casualties the survivors fled on foot as Ukrainian ground troops advanced (probably the same Ukrainians that called in the arty).

So they probably stayed in the same position to long and did not have good situational awareness.  The Observer / Controllers at the NTC would be very harsh on them during the AAR. 😎

The game "This War of Mine" has pledged to send all profits for the next week to support the people who need food and aid in Ukraine. So far they have raised 160,000 dollars. Given the nature of Black Sea I think Battlefront should do the same. As a developer who makes money off of war I think this would be the right thing to do.

    So.... How about doing this?

Battlefront is not a big company with a lot of resources and employees.  One of the best ways they can support the citizens of Ukraine is by helping to facilitate the truth about the current situation.  They allow a very informative topic on their forums (see below link) which provide fantastic information often with links to sources, photos and videos.  It has reports from Ukrainians, who are forum members, that are actually in Ukraine.  This information is usually several hours ahead of the main stream media and IMO often more accurate.  It would be nice if everybody did their part according to their abilities.  Battlefront, through the Battlefront forum, is proving awareness of the situation in line with their abilities.  Help do your part and spread the below link so people will know the truth.  Slava Ukraini!!!!  :)

took a trip to the 1st Division Museum and tank park in Wheaton, IL outside the city.

+1.  Very interesting place to visit.  I've been there several times since I was a kid.  Then, as an adult, took my kids there.  They added new displays of equipment and information over the years.  I think when I first visited as a kid the most advanced tank they had was a M48 Patton.  Now of course they have some M60s and a M1.  I hope you got a chance to go inside the museum.  In the museum you can walk through a WW I bunker, walk out a landing craft onto Normandy beach, walk down a jungle trail in Vietnam with the sound of choppers overhead etc.  Very cool place.  :)

If I understand the reports about General Sukhovetsky he was both the commander of the 7th Airborne Division and deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army (CAA).  At the same time?  Is a deputy commander in Russia similar to an executive officer in the west?

Executive officers often oversee logistics and administrative issues allowing the commander to focus on the battle.  Was he attempting to run the battle operations of the 7th Airborne while at the same time overseeing the logistics / administrative side of the 41st CAA?   If so, that seems like an impossible task for one man.  This multiple simultaneous command structure may be one of the reasons we see reports of failed airborne/air assault operations and a breakdown in logistics.  I wonder how many other Russian officers are in a similar situation.

Or maybe I'm just not understanding the articles they are writing about him.

Thread about Russian AFVs that have driven off bridges.

Well, for the best results, one waypoint needs to be placed immediately before the bridge starts and a second waypoint immediately after the bridge.  They could have saved these vehicles if they had trained with Combat Mission prior to the invasion. 🙂 😆 😎
