  1. Yes, it's a Serbian company called Prvi Partizan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prvi_Partizan They produce a lot of what are now considered "oddball" calibers of ammo, along with stuff that can be hard to find. I have a whole stack of their .303 ammo, which I use in my Lee-Enfields. Good stuff.

A .303 in California? But that's an assault rifle. Aren't they (and about everything else) illegal in Brown's Nanny State? (Insert sarcasm here)

  2. I currently have about 30 minutes left in a huge 2-hour H2H meeting engagement. We have two areas of battle that we refer to as "meat grinders" I've lost about 2 1/2 Co. Of infantry and a sqdn of tanks. My opponent has lost about 3 to 4 Co. Of panzer grenadiers, vehicles, and 14 to 15 PzVs. I'll let you all know what the final tally of KIA To WIA is. Neither of us has been retreating, just broken and panics running.

I don't understand what you mean, "its been this way for a long time".All hqs in CMBN and CMFI have radios, the Russian pltn hqs don't, how are they calling in arty?

I'm currently playing an H2H in CMBN, and had an HQ crew who bailed from their flaming Sherman Firefly. The leader was able to call in a mission even though no radio was showing in the interface. Maybe an HQ unit leader has an "inherent" radio even though it doesn't show.

  4. It isn't an expansion. It's a complete stand-alone game with units, formations, missions, campaigns, and such that aren't found in the other base games. . The Commonwealth, Market Garden, and Gustavo Line modules are expansions of CMBN and CMFI. Those cannot be used without the base game. CMRT is definitely worth the cost.

  5. My biggest issue with the UI is not being able to move waypoints by clicking on the lines (forcing you to go back and find the unit itself before issuing new orders) . With that added functionality it would be a lot easier to control stuff in bigger scenarios.

The only time I've had any problem selecting the "lines" is when I'm zoomed out too far in "God" view and can't select the path. I consistently use clicking on the path line to highlight the end point and move it; either an intermediate point or an end point.

  6. Okay, I know there is a Tutorial Campaign, nicely identified. However, I get the impression in reading the manual that there is a Battle, that is designed as a Tutorial, but no where do I see it identified. Can someone enlighten me?

The tutorial has three "missions." The first is moving up to a firing line to learn how to select, move, and target. It uses both infantry and armor. The second is an assault on a German occupied hill. The manual gives you hints on what to do and where to move. The third is defending that hill from a counterattack. It's pretty much a rewrite of "Task Force Rath" in CMBN. I'm doing it just to learn some of the idiosyncrasies of the Soviet forces.

The whole campaign is explained in the manual. I downloaded the manual onto my iPad so I could read the text while I was playing the mission.

  7. Most of the ones that have to wait several days, maby even a week for their physical copies to arrive

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but the following was included in the e-mail:

"The physical goods for the game are going to start shipping within the

next 4-6 weeks out of our US location."

  8. I don't remember them all, but IIRC the Italian 45mm, the Brit 2" mortar, German 50mm, US? I am sure someone knows this stuff here.

The U.S. licensed the French Brant (sp. ?) 60mm mortar as the M2 during or just after WW I. They were definitely capable of indirect fire. The USMC still uses the upgraded mod at the company level (a section of three tubes in the weapons platoon). The section is commonly attached to a reinforced rifle platoon. We often fired them indirect. I'd like to see BF allow indirect behind hedgerows as was done.

  9. Ah yes. You're right. No such thing as FAC, any more. Doesn't bother me much cos I've not used TacAir out of choice, and after my experiences with what scenarios hand me, I shan't be changing that. Worthless bleedin' flyboys.

Of course that will have to change if BF ever does a Pacific theater. The Marines definitely used FAC (they developed air-ground coordination since the Banana Wars). Navy and Marine FOs used it regularly. USMC air-ground is still a thing of beauty. :D

  10. I don't believe they do either. To the best of my knowledge the Brits had long since replaced their Boys ATRs with PIATs and the Americans had never issued one operationally, using the bazooka instead.

Getting back to your Hanomag drivers, was the vehicle open or buttoned? If the former, wouldn't the driver have his armored visor in the opened position?

    Michael

I guess that would depend on your definition of "operationally." I believe the Marine Raiders carried some Boys rifles during their raid on Makin in the Pacific theater.
