  1. Ah, ok. Well, maybe would be good to include random placement of "do not destruct" buildings into the Quick battles, as a selectable option.
  2. @TheWood - can it be selected in quick battles, or only during scenario design?
  3. I would love to see Civilians modeled in. Right now, pretty much any SP or MP battle, my IFV's briefly target EVERY building they have in their sights, to suppress or kill anything that may be hiding there. I also indiscriminately drop arty on city centres and villages, where enemy troops may be hiding. However, it would be nice to have civilians with random behaviour (hiding/running across the street in panic, etc) to be modeled into the game engine, because the reality right now is that civilian casualties is even more of a big thing than it ever used to be before. As we can see from online videos in areas of operations around Eastern Ukraine, people don't really vacate their homes, because its all they have to their name and its likely to get looted if they are gone. Therefore, as a way to be more accurate in the use of your troops, I would love it if civilians were a factor, with penalties to final scoring for killing said civilians (say, each civilian death will remove 75 points from final score). There doesnt need to be loads of them - maybe 3 or 4 families per battle map (10-16 pixelpersons), randomly distributed in the maps buildings near victory objectives, so as to promote smarter play, rather than "brief fire at every building", or area deny 152mm arty strike.
  4. Yeah, i thought i heard something along those lines when I was watching the parade Live. When I have the time, will rewatch it, pay more attention, and will post what was said.
  5. For this, would need considerably better/smarter AI behaviour, as it does some really silly things sometimes in its current state.
  6. I think WEGO is the best way to play this game especially against a human opponent, but Blazing88 - why NO? Tell us a little more regarding this opinion. @Chudacabra - i know what you mean about those moments, but for me lately, especially in MP matches, the OH SNAP moments have been happening really early into the turn. Like, 15 seconds in, an enemy tank is spotted by my recon. But i have to wait whole 45 secs more to move my tank out of cover to engage that target, by which time it has already probably moved away. Having shorter turn sequences means you can react to the fast paced battlefield alot faster. I like WhiteHots suggestion for selectable timers - you could agree with opponent pre-match on what turn timer sequence to use, and lock it in during battle creation. Is it possible to mod the game to include such a feature, or the engine wouldnt allow it?
  7. Welcome Pat. I only recently joined the community myself (even though been playing CM titles for years), and there is a really good bunch of guys on here, who will help you out whenever you need it. Also strongly recommend to download some of the Mods over in the modding corner. I was shying away from them, delaying their inclusion until I better understood game mechanics, but some of the mods really do make the game feel better. It will still play the same in terms of the underlying mechanisms, but everything will look, act and feel more awesome! http://community.battlefront.com/forum/101-cm-black-sea-maps-and-mods/
  8. Hey All, So, Ive been playing CMBS single-player and WeGo multiplayer a lot more frequently for the past two or so months, and have been greatly enjoying it (probably more than all previous CM titles - I have been a Fan since the first one!) However, due to the fast nature of the modern battlefield (targets pop up and disappear quickly/ targets pop up at much longer ranges/ combat is fast and brutal, etc), it seems to me that sometimes, the 1:00 minute (60 second) turns are a bit too long, and the AI too slow/stupid to react to some of the developing combat situations that happen within that minute. I am of the opinion (and this is what is up for discussion), that a turn length of 30 seconds would be more suitable to the modern battlefield of CMBS, specifically because of the pace at which the battleground events take place. This is probably even more important for Multiplayer. Does anyone else agree? Or not? Also, a question more for the development team/modders - is it theoretically possible to reduce the turn timer allocations to 30 seconds?
  9. Hey Kieme, just wanted to follow up with you, to see if you have had any progress with getting that blurry-ness removed or reduced with your mods?
  10. Any other nations hosting parades yesterday or today to commemorate 70 years WW2 victory? If yes, can you please drop links?
  11. To all those whose Relatives served, suffered, fell, or were in either way touched or taken by WW2 - happy VE day. We remember their sacrifices.
  12. Anyone watching the parade right now? I dont necessarily agree with what Russia has been recently doing in particular areas of the world, but this parade is making me feel very proud for the Motherland nonetheless!
  13. LockAndLoad, youre in Crimea, right? Whats your opinion on how things are at present?
  14. Agreed. Just for comparison, how expensive would the most expensive tank round cost?
  15. @Thewood1 - Is the training on the use of the Javelin extensive/expensive, or is it as simple as aiming, shooting, forgetting? I assume that Javelin operators are easier to replace than Tank crews?
  16. Ok, makes sense Apocal, and thanks for the example Zero. How do you hide or "secure" your tanks after you have pushed and gained new ground in a combat zone, to protect it from precision arty or airstrikes (in todays modern battlefield)? Right up against sturdy-looking buildings?
  17. A very perceptive point! @Mike - very interesting and informative read, thank you for that.
  18. That is true, I wont deny that some changes have been for the better. Ministers like Volodymyr Groysman seem to genuinely want to improve the lives of the people, and to improve the overall stability of the Nation. Even when he was mayor of the town of Vinnitsa in western Ukraine, he was credited with doing many good things for the benefit of the local populace. It must be difficult to do such a job sitting in the corrupt environment that still probably exists at large in Kiev, despite the many positive leadership changes, so I do sincerely hope that the most suitable measures are employed by such encouraging individuals, so as to benefit the country and the populace, rather than the ruling elite.
  19. Thanks for the above Steve - I appreciate the time which you take to outline the points and list the arguments backing them. I was raised in the UK from about 9 years old (30 now), and I regularly go to Ukraine to visit family there, but havent been to Russia since 15, but for some reason that notion of "stop accusing my homeland of all wrongs in the world" still exists inside of me, and I (maybe subconsciously) want to believe in a nicer Russia than may exist in real life. Hence I appreciate all of the above. In any case, will do some research and will see if I can bring any suitable points to this debate.
  20. Its just, in terms of economics vs strategic result/gain, it seems that a tank (single, company, battalion of tanks) is more expensive and not as efficient to field as, say, a unit of troops properly armed with anti-personnel and anti-tank ordnance. How much does it cost to make an Abrams M1? Say 6 million? Im not familiar with military economics, but how many troops can you train and equip for that same 6 million, to effectively combat other infantry, armour and some AA capability (manpad SAMs)? Now, as soon as a tank enters a conflict zone - it becomes a high risk priority, and the enemy will actively seek methods to destroy/disable it. So, we are talking Air assets out to destroy it, precision arty, and infantry. Thats alot of threats you gotta protect it from, which again increases the cost of fielding the tank (so, other assets on standby for defence, factor in the fuel consumption of the tank, the crew training, the expensive cost of ammo, etc etc). Isnt it more effective to train a squad/platoon/company of troops (again, I dont know how many and how well equipped for the 6 million USD), and dispatch them to the combat area instead of the tank? They are harder to spot, can hide in buildings, trenches (a tank is harder to hide, right?), will cost less to support (maybe Im wrong on this?) while out in the field, and because they are considered of a less-immediate threat by the enemy, they can actually achieve more on the ground? Pardon me if this line of reasoning is naive or can be considered stupid by some of the military related persons on the forum, but I ask this because I genuinely do not know, and I would like to know. Seems we are in good company here with various military professionals, so I hope to learn something from your explanations.
  21. By High Threat SOP do you mean all systems switched on, missiles armed and ready? How long does it take for a destroyer to go from nada to high threat SOP? Did the persian gulf situation take place because the vessel actually had orders to be under high threat SOP at the time?
  22. Yeah, I just read that one after reading your earlier post. Any info at all if pilot's bodies have been recovered from the wreckage, and if there was any similar shrapnel inside their body tissue?
  23. "It will take a long time for Ukraine to get to a reasonable level of corruption and government competency, but the same is true for Russia. The difference is Ukraine is moving in that direction, Russia is deliberately resisting it." Not entirely true mate. Last two years has seen Russia (Putin) change the internal policies in a major major way, to stop the syphoning of state/public funds into private pockets. Granted, the top/elite will probably be given loopholes to continue their own enrichment (as is true for any western country as well, lets not be rosy-eyed about this), but for the most part, there is a huge drive by Putin to stamp out corruption in Russia. As for Ukraine, I really hope the government can stabilise the country and its economy, but lets not forget that the country's economy right now, is in the hands of 3 business men. Who's businesses continue operating as normal, despite the war and the effect of the currency drop, I might add. http://www.boilingfrogspost.com/2014/03/11/ukraine-names-oligarchs-and-gangsters-as-governors-ministers/ (p.s. I dont know why the first image has a JUDE sign in it, the article doesnt seem to be anti-semitic in its content, otherwise I wouldnt have posted it) Im not saying that Russian creme-of-the-crop are any better, but I would not go so far as to say that Ukraine is moving towards a reasonable level of corruption and governmental competency.
