Hostomel was guarded with small number of personnel of 4th National Guard rapid reaction brigade. Russians seized airfield after almost all day clashes (but lost two helicopters over it and at least two more on approach). Because of mech. units were involved in fights northern, UKR forces had time to gather reinforcements and artillery and pushed off VDV (45th VDV spetsnaz brigade and 31st air-assault brigade - total 300 men in first wave) from airfield. But on next day first Russian mech.units arrived as well as new wave of VDV, which came from Belarus on BMDs and other part probbaly again on helicopters, so after heavy fighting Russians took airfield again and seized it up to the April.

Their mech.units were delayed on the border, in Chornobyl and Ivankiv, until reached Hostomel. Russians didn't expect there to be serious resistance. Despite our troops had only light screens on the border of 72nd mech.brigade, border guards and small-numbered National Guard battalion of Chernobyl nuclear plant security, but they could foil Russian plans and synchronization.

As if 50 UKR generals (!!!) and top-officers were killed. This is similar to their reaction on losses around Zmiinyi island on 7th of May, when Russian also flipped this developments upside down as if this is Ukraine suffered heavy losses. If they repeat it now, very likely informatin about 20th CAA HQ hit is true.

Russians are throwing in the battle near Popasna even old T-62. Probably theese tanks reinforce LPR regular or even conscript units. I read that in LDPR regular units very bad situation with tanks. Many of them either knoked out or broke, so it's very lucky if brigade has a combined company ot some more of combat-ready tanks instad battalion. And most of them are captured Ukrainain T-64BV

No, is mostly about cpability of unit to conduct own tasks autonomously. Since 2000th Russian army due to local conflicts transferred from old Soviet divisional structure to separate brigades structure, when each brigade has own set of heavy support weapon systems and wasn't depend from higher HQs and to be more flexible. But since Russia again became to dream about own empire ambitions and prepare to "big war", they again partially turned to divisional structure for solving of more scale tasks. Part of separate brigades were turned out to divisions, some were reduced to regiments. But there are many units remained as separate brigades in compositins of armies or army corpses (of coastal units) All UKR brigades are "separate".

@Battlefront.com Interesting document about Russian/LPR wounded, which shows a ratio between Russian, LPR regulars and LPR conscript losses from 15th of May to 15th of June likely on Popasna-Bakhmut direction, which passed through the hospital in Pervomaisk town (Luhansk oblast, occupied since 2014). Here the title document, which tells that from 15th of May to 15th of June the hospital brought 893 wounded servicemen. From this number 124 were died because their injuries were incompatible with life. Further in thread issued sheets of theese 124 died servicemen - alas, only three sheet from six, so only 72 names available. The list composed inattentively, there are some mistyping in military unit numbers, also some LPR troopers "enlisted" to Russian units, but I corrected it. The Regiment has Mi-28N, Mi-24, Mi-35, Mi-8 AMTSh. Last known duty of Gundorov - flight commander of Mi-28N in 2012 (in that time had a rank of mayor). Got lost two days ago, 16th of June, when his Mi-35M was shot down, near Rivnopil' village, Donetsk oblast. Together with him got lost second crewman lieutenent Dmitriy Yevdokimov
