  1. Well so far everything seems to run very well on the Intel card. To be fair, I haven't played any sizable battles yet just the tutorials and a small battle. That being said the graphics look really nice. The one issue is that my magic mouse seems to loose it's scrolling settings in game and so mouse features like zoom in/out and panning are slow not game breaking but it's there. The really nice thing is that Best Buy gave me the thumbs up to bring it back and exchange it for a 15" if I'm not happy with the laptop. Very cool.
  2. I'm looking at picking up a new laptop specifically a Macbook Pro 13" and possibly a retina varient. I've done a search here on the forums and most of the discussions about MBP discuss using a dedicated GPU. However, the 13" MBP only comes with a Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated chipset. Does anyone know if this chipset is capable of playing CMBN (MAC)? I'm comfortable with balance/fast graphic settings as CMBN would just an on-the-road or sitting on the Lazy Boy distraction with a little more tactical depth than Bejeweled. Thanks for the help gents.
  3. I've started playing the game using turns instead of real time and the pacing has been quite the challenge. Learning to time events so that they happen when you want them is a pretty sizable learning curve. Supporting fires to suppress enemy positions while I bound a squad across an open field to a building or other cover for example. I often find myself yelling at my pixeljoes to run faster, increase thier rate of fire or stop piddling around the open field and find cover! Heh. Good times.
  4. So is there a cap on the number of squad members who can fire out of a window at any one time? I ask because it looks as if all of them are lined up in the room firing some in line with the window and others the wall.
  5. Sorry if this is a rehash of previously discussed questions. Are PBEM games compatible between the two? Is Battlefront the developer of the Mac version? Often times this is handed off to a 3rd party for development. Is there significant differences between the two versions in terms of gameplay, graphics and patching? Thanks.
  6. Long story short. A laptop that I had CMA installed on is no longer functional, but it went down and I was unable to deactivate the game. How do I reclaim the e-license so I can install the game on my new laptop? Thanks.
  7. That's great news. I also enjoy the smaller scenarios.
  8. Oh yeah. I'd pay for module price for the upgrades easily.
  9. How many of the squad are able to fire out of a window at one time?
  10. Personally I just wish the patch cost was passed on with the release of the next CMBN module. I'd rather pay the money and know that its packaged fully functional in a released module where you get both the content and the engine upgrade. But that's just me, I'd rather have 3 installs instead of 4 regardless of how small or "painless" they are. I also don't see any issue with a civil discussion about the game whether it's mechanics, pricing or how its been determined to release the game by Battlefront. For example I'd rather that Battlefront had a single WW2 CM base game with 9 module expansions than 3 seperate released base games. (I know thats not going to happen just using an example) Unfortunately I think that on a developer board (not just here) the player base becomes overly defensive of criticism. And in the end hurts new or perspective players more than a poor review. Anyway I'm having fun with all of my CMX2 games. Although I do wish that the engine upgrades could be worked into CMSF too. I'd love to have movable waypoints to reroute my Strykers.
  11. There is no indirect fire provided to the Soviets in this scenario. There are a couple of scenarios pretty similar to this one that may have indirect fire however.
  12. I'll look up the books you've recommended. I actually thought that the units were VDV too, but the scenario specifically says dismounted motorized rifle company. Perhaps they took the build off of a air airborne unit and called it a dismounted MRC. Also it maybe a way of showing understrength or mixed unit compositions, which seem to have been factors in Soviet planning.
  13. John In this scenario, I think the squad personnel numbers are based off of the fact that you are playing a dismounted motorized rifle company that is air assaulted onto the objective. So you wouldn't have the personnel directly tied to BMP operation. However if I were to hazard a guess the breakdown was done something along these lines. MOTORIZED RIFLE SQUAD - Red being removed. Squad Leader/BTR Commander AK-74 Senior Rifleman/Asst. Squad Leader AK-74 BTR Driver/Mechanic PM Rifleman/Assistant Grenadier AK-74 BTR Machine Gunner PM Rifleman/Medic AK-74 Machine Gunner RPK-74 Rifleman AK-74/SVD Grenadier RPG-7V. PM The machine gun/anti-tank PLT was also changed to give you 6 PK/PKM teams instead of the 3 by doctrine. The 3 additional teams were changed in the scenario from ATGM teams to MMG teams. Here is a link to the FM that is cited in your link http://www.fas.org/irp/doddir/army/fm100-2-3.pdf I've been reading The Bear Went Over the Mountain and The Soviet Afghan War How a Superpower Fought and Lost. So far neither of the books have gotten down to the company level TO&E, I'm hoping that they might give some insight into the unit compositions used in the game.
  14. Thanks Erwin. I do as well. Right now I'm trying to crack the nut that is Herat. The 1980's Soviets are not the 2000's US Army or USMC when it comes to urban clearing and securing operations.
  15. Howdy Gents, I did an AAR for the A Counter Ambush battle scenario which can be found here: http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=1739.0 I really enjoy CMA and just wanted to expose more gamers to it. Hopefully a few you might enjoy the read as well. I'm sure there are some tactical decision that will cause some of the more experienced players to scratch their heads, but I'd like feed back on alternative tactics.
  16. I guess it's just easier for some to not be helpfull around these parts.
  17. Go to Advanced > Security Protection > either history or quarantine and you will get an option more details click and you'll end up with the option to restore the .exe and give permission to MH690.A. It'll restore your module and .exe. I had to do this myself earlier this evening.
  18. Ah. Ok that makes sense now. I don't remember the voice overs going through the normal fires steps. Thanks gents.
  19. I may have in this case, because they were systimatically destroying my strykers. However, I've also seen it in cases where I've used a more deliberate call requesting effects in 5 or 10 mins. Emergency calls cause this kind of inaccuracy? What about immediate calls do they cause the same type of inaccuracy?
  20. This is something that I've been seeing a lot of in CMSF in regard to call for fire. I'll identify a target and call for fire, but when the rounds come in they always hit 75-100 meters off target. I get that there will be some rounds that stray off target, but I have yet to see an indirect fire round ever hit on target. Here I have a HQ section spotting for a 120mm indirect fire. I've got the target highlighted with a target light. The team has binocs, gps. You can see the targeted enemy positions and where the rounds are impacting off to the left a good 75-100 meters off target. Although it doesn't seem to matter who is calling for the fire support, the results are the same. Is there something that I am missing that allows for an accurate target aquistion? The scenario is Abu Susah, if that makes a difference.
