  1. Steve or someone at BFC has said elsewhere that the major work for the Arnhem module was the buildings, terrain and TO&E. Don't forget that American paratroopers will need different uniforms, too. So it's quite possible that British paras could be in the Commonwealth module and there would still be alot of things to go into Market Garden. Bicycles maybe???:D

  2. Yeah, I don't know why I let it get to me, but I thought we'd get the Demo today at least, then the Game next week. I'm 57, but feel like a 7-year-old on about December 15...Christmas is never going to get here!

I guess its because ever since I started board & miniature gaming "seriously" (as opposed to knocking over plastic army men with dirt clods) in 1970, and discovered that computers could play chess against humans, I wanted a computer WWII game that like this. I never got into CMx1 because the graphics were so bad compared to IL 2 (I was heavily into IL2 before I found out about CMBO).

After 2-3 years after playing all the CMSF games/modules, knowing how fantastic this engine is and what it's capable of, my almost 40 year old dream is soooo close. I think of it as ASL Live...and on steroids! And not having to wade through 100+ pages of rules in fine print.:D

    So get here already!

  3. Here's the deal. Why release the manual on a Tuesday? Because they want to release the Game on Friday, 2-3 days later, which according to someone else on one of these threads, is the usual. So, Demo tomorrow, game on Friday. There. Gospel. For me, anyway. :D

    gibsonm, please note the smiley.

  4. Thanks for the manual, BFC! It is really well-written, and much better than the CM:SF manual. I actually now understand the difference between Exit After and Exit Before, and that is no small feat considering that the detailed thread on the CM:SF board about the difference, while helpful, still left me a little shaky. For that matter, the whole Editor section is very well done!

  5. OK, nobody's said it, so I will. IF you go by the theory that BFC would probably want to release the game on a Friday (Friday Bones & letting everyone have a weekend to play with it, etc.), and IF you believed BFC meant it when they said "around the end of April", and IF last Wednesday's announcement was really supposed to have said 7-21 days, then releasing the Manual on a Tuesday can ONLY lead to one, certain conclusion...I don't know when the f**k it's going to be released.:D

  6. A question related to releases that I don't think has come up yet: What's the "best" day of the week for BFC to release it?

Since this game is not purchased in stores, I assume any day is as good as any other from a marketing scheme. But to please this audience, I assume they'll put it out on a Friday so that we can all spend the weekend glued to our monitors. Otherwise, the national ecenomies of several nations might take a huge dive in productivity for up to a week if it was released, say, on a Monday. :D

So my guess is April 29 or May 6. Please, please, please be April 29!

  7. I've been playing IL2 since 2001, and went several years before we got out of Russia to the Med, then another few years before we got to the Pacific (my favorite I'd been waiting for since the beginning), and several more years before it was opened up fully to the modding community.

So, I'll be more than happy with one module every 9 months to a year. But even so, once I get CM:BN on my 'puter, I will probably not get tired of it for quite some time. I know it will be quite a looooong time before we see the Eastern Front, and unless 3rd parties get involved, probably never see the Med or Pacific Theaters, but once we get the Brit/SS?FJ module and the Market-Garden one, I'll be good for about 10 years. :D I can wait on the Bulge game.
