Playing my first game using this and it is fantastic. I swore off PBEM after one attempt a few months ago, but this takes all the annoyance out of it. It's actually perfect for me since I'm a student, I can sit here and study, then every so often I hear a little beep and know its CMBN time! Thanks a ton guys!

In reference to American soldiers executed - there was one U.S. soldier executed for desertion/cowardice. As far as I know. I remember much was made of the subject - a movie, a book etc. I guess Eisenhower and the others had a lot of hard moments in decided whether or not to go through with it, but did for the purposes of making an example.
As far as the SS, I dont know if they could accept any nationality. I know that they had tight restrictions INITIALLY where you had to prove your ancestry, blah blah blah. These were loosened quite a bit around 1942/1943. But its also very true that they had an Islamic SS division, I believe a Balkan SS division, a 'Nordland' (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, etc) as well as other units.
But I dont think its true that you had to be a German national to join the Wehrmacht -what about the Spanish 'Blue' division on the Eastern Front and the Russian Fascist Army under Ivanov (did I remember his name right?)
The Blue Division was fully compromised of Spanish division of volunteers, just integrated into the Wehrmacht with their material and training. Dont think you can compare it to an SS division.
But they did fight as well if not better... -

and will do nothing to improve my already declining eye sight! Ive downloaded a couple of docs to watch recently, and im watching Patton 360 aswell. hell I know the docs have inacuracies (even yours truly, whos WWII knowledge is good but nothing compared to most people arround here, can still pick out bits and pieces) but still entertaining to watch and well you get the jist of whats going on and keeps me motivated to play CMBN. -
Yup, ..and I´d be interested in figures for UK, US and finally ...russians! The latter had their frontline execution commando already with them, in form of comrade comissar and NKVD.
Generally the democracy soldier just had to fear the enemy, while the dictatorship soldier had to fear the enemy AND military justice.
1.Considering a full divisions worth of men where executed by the soviets just in Stalingrad, one can only imagine.
2.Sadly, where I live you still have to fear both...

I suggest you try books.
for those of us that have no disposable income? id love to get books and read them all but i have neither the money, let alone the space on my bookshelf for that amount of books...
if anyone knows a good series of docs to watch please do share them!

I destroyed an immobilized Sherman on a hill by, "point targeting a nebelwerfer strike on it, the rounds impacted the upper armour. I did this in the battle, "Die Ammis Kommen!"
talk about overkill LOL!

It's worse than that, i dropped some 155mm arty in one PBEM game im playing, and i suffered casualties from it in a totally different PBEM game.
hmmm...the shrapnel must have been travelling atleast at 88 miles an hour!

Just today I had an inmobilized Sherman get knocked out by an arty shell direct hit, although Im not sure if it was 81 or 105

heh ive had panthers dance arround for more than a minute when they had some 4 or 5 tanks at which to choose from, kept truning the turrent and hull left to right to left to right, rotating turnning aiming etc etc...

if they arent any carbines in the squad its preety dificult to get one!

I haven't rigorously tested this (expecting me to rigorously test anything is near-laughable), my casual observations while playing concur with stikky's here.

Also if you can try and get a flank on it, that will negate the shield protection and also the Flak takes ages to turn so it will give you enough time to run if it starts to.

It already happened a few times with Steam, the most memorable was ( I dont remember which year) a storm or similar hit the steam headquarters and knocked out steam for a good 3 to 4 weeks (could not play any steam game at all). At the time I didnt really use steam everyday, so I wasnt that bothered, but if it happened today...
