Pablius got a reaction from nsKb in No American AAA?
Ther was a thread about this topic still active a few days ago

In a few words, the argument made by people that know about this stuff is that the US doesn't have this systems because it counts on the air force to do the job

So, basically the game assumes a situation that wouldn't be possible (or likely) in real life, except for a few very lucky Russian planes in the whole theater that would probably be shot down returning home anyway, but because this is a game it takes some liberties

I won´t start an argument about this, since I don't claim any special knowledge about it,  but in the interest of not starting another never ending thread on this I would suggest you check that other thread, specially the arguments put forward by US officers and see their reasoning for how things are the way they are

Pablius got a reaction from Shorker in Please NO Marines or NATO forces module !
Marines is a given, they probably sell better than anything else and in CMSF they feel different enough, specially with their big infantry platoons

In one of CMSF modules, they included US light infantry formations that were a challenge too, and fun to play

And I would like for the French to be included at last, not very familiar with their stuff, but I´m not counting on it, UK, Germany and Poland are much more likely

In any case, every module should, and probably will, include some red forces, airborne, naval infantry, separatists are all good candidates, special forces (as in seals, spetnatz, etc.) I´m not sure are a good fit for this games

Pablius got a reaction from nsKb in US Anti Aircraft defences
I second the motion for standoff air mission option!!

I was thinking about it the other day while reading this thread after playing a couple of missions

It is somewhat strange it is not there in some form, given the capabilities of the systems involved and all the effort put into them to do exactly the opposite of what they do in game right now,

It is like giving the tanks a range limit of 1000m for no good reason other than to add suspense

Pablius got a reaction from Blueonblack83 in Red campaign only 5 missions long?
I guess they assumed that it was better to do one for each side, with a total close to 15, than a big one for just the US plus some Ukrainians attached, but it does feel short and you don´t care so much about loosing core units this way, save for tanks maybe...perhaps 7 or 8 missions long campaigns, with some replacements available a some point would have been the sweet spot for tactical diversity, I think I got more "attached" to my units in CMSF, but I guess story telling is not the central point of a wargame

Those poor russian recon guys were used as "one-time enemy detectors" for the most part without much consequence...wish I could split one man sections for maximum detecting!

Pablius got a reaction from Spitzenhund in sell on Steam?
Without the intent of fueling a hot topic I just want to add that it would definitely be convenient for BF games to be on Steam, at least to me as a costumer

I recently bought Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations in their last sale, a very niche game/simulator, and it´s definitely a plus not to be hunting patches/fixes, I hope it soon gets Steam Workshop support

Paradox Interactive is another big success story about their transition to Steam, and so AGEOD it seems, since they are in the same group as Matrix and Slitherine

I won´t argue about it with BF, I don´t have the numbers nor data nor the entitlement feeling to tell them what to do, just my experience with other small/medium strategy focused companies that made that move, and it´s being positive so far, again, as a costumer

And I´ll keep buying BF games I like one way or the other
