    Pbem

    some play chess in pbem and taking long time. maybe a special pbem game thats starts off with several cities and maybe starting $.resources to buy starting units?
  2. huh, da... god's eye view is top line. but still, click it at start or while running, it stay's in player1 view. ((brit bty: meant to email that the 'group' that got stuck on the beach. i tried un-gouping them and they would move on there own..))
  3. trying to review game that just ended. trying to switch view to other side. click on 'view as', then click on player2; stay's on player1. shouldn't there be a 'view all' as well? d
  4. should add. also have another game on a laptop. that one had only the elite ai. ate up almost 2/3 of the map, uncovered about 80% (is there a report somewhere that say's how much has been uncoverd?) and was about to declare war when it did. this elite ai, also has NO airforce.
  5. a level4 tac bomber attacked an empty city12 and was shot down. a level2 bomber attacked an city10/w 2 battleships in port and was shot down. a level4 tac bomber attacked a level4 tank and was shot down. (bombers didn't do any damage to anything). what were the odds for these bombers? granted, unit would have some air defence, but i would have figured damage to those bombers, not shot down, otherwise, whats the point of airdefence units?
  6. i too started a game with an elite, veteran and novice; (allthough at this point, i can't remember who was assigned where and i can't find anywhere in the game where it describes the assignment). i was glad about not worring about battles at the first of the game, trying to expand the economy. i ran into what i think is the elite on an island. he took the north city, i took the south city and my tank3 just beat out his tank4 for a pot of gold. i was expecting a fight for the island, nope. about this time the vet declared war on me. now this seem to be over an island city that i owned, but the attack was beaten off. then couple turns later, the novice declared war on me. i had only seen a couple of resources and no cities of the novice, so this was somewhat of a surprize, until one of my boarder resources was captured. couple of turns later, the elite declared war on the vet. the very next turn, the vet sued peace with me (i took it). so i beat down the novice, until with 1 city left, the novice sued for peace (i granted, want to see what he does). in those roughly 80 turns, the vet, twice, sent a message that he was glad we were 'still at peace". it was very amusing to me. however, through those turns, i was constantly doing overflights on both of there territories, to see what they were both up too, as well as what they might do about it, (might have triggered the vet messages?). the elite ai should now be aware that i have large forces at his border, around his resources and paratroopers sitting outside of one of his undefended citys. plan is to do as much damage, then turn on the vet. other ai notes: both have fairly large navies (4 battleships each) and large ground forces (same with novices, only it was smaller). NONE of the ai have an airforce. only in the last few turns have i seen 1 level1 fighter for each of them. with the number of rocket launchers i have seen on both sides (i have none), i am assuming they may be going for nucs'. but, in about 20 turns, i'll have a nuc bomber:eek:.

  8. rich yep. your option list is getting pretty large. i do admit, i too like customizable games. brit: i have two games going, one on laptop, one on main. both show cruisers grayed out, where big boys aren't. btw: in your announcement, you talk about air transports. i couldn't find air transports in my research list on either game. where are they suppose to be listed? thx dave
  9. ai's not on a background task? would think it could be making its moves while the human is too.

  11. nope. also, was starting eos from explorer and thats when task manager would show eos all ways running. if i launch it from start:run:...eos, it still does same thing, i hit 'trial', the intro picture flickers on/off the screen, but now, eos disappears from the task manager window.
  12. observation: cruisers need a ship yard, but the bigger boys don't? shouldn't there be a building charge for switching production: (prior 'empires' called it a 'tooling' charge).

    some laptops don't have numbers keypad (like mine, or there is a toggle switch that switchs out regular keys for num keys); so could hot keys be kept on regular keyboard. i would like- show all paths key (toggle).
  14. wanting different zoom levels has become very imporant to me as well.
  15. the orginal empire didn't have a drain as well and one couldn't shut off production. was putting units in forever patrols. if thats what you like, huge unrealistic military, ok. my taste is for more realistic game.
  16. like kelly's ideas. especially seperate que for update units. will one be able to update the game from the update icon on the main screen?
  17. well i did to, food boost. now, not so sure. started a game that there was no food resources anywhere around and it was a big balancing act for first 30 turns. but by 40th turn, i'm now have huge amounts of everything. another game on another computer, i started with huge amounts of everything right at the start. in both games, i'm now have poured lots of $$$ into research. at the current rate, i'll have the tree completed in very little turns. so why even have a tree. in the released game, i would hope that for random maps; one would be able to set the amount of resources available, i.e. sparse or allot. the orginal and even later 'empire's game, one could amass huge forces. paying for up keep of units is one way of curbing this. but having unlimited resources doesn't curb huge forces. i don't see anything wrong with having a 'no resource needed flag'. but i believe it doesn't fit the theme of this 'empire'.
  18. i'm sure of it. (pretty sure) no game window opens, but in xp task window, eos is running. would be nice to be able to shut off sound drivers prior to launch. this xp computer is, (SHHHH!!!)..., my work computer;)
  19. vista '... administrator' works on the laptop, will try pro tonight. xp: 'eLicense window'? in lower left corner? yes it is there. now, this computer, has run nearly all of battlefront demo's, except SC2 and eos; this computer has sound driver issues (doesn't work) and sc2 aborts when it can't find a sound driver. could this be a problem for eos? this computer has only xp firewall. dave
  20. tried installing on an XP computer, vista home laptop and a vista pro computer. on the vista computers, clicking desktop icon, nothing happens: although there is alot of disk activity. on the xp, i get start screen, but when clicking trial, another screen flickers pass and then nothing. in the pass, i have tried several CMxx demos on these computers with no issues. the vista pro and xp have CMAK installed, seemingly with no issues. missing something:confused:
