  1. I downloaded CMBS demo (PC), and am seeing a weird text issue. See pic. This text problem is on every screen and on in game text also. any suggestions on how this is fixed? computer specs: Intel i5-9300H CPU 2.4 GHz Ram 8GB video nvidia GTX 1650 windowss 10 (Note - my computer runs TWWH3 just fine, so it shouldn’t be a performance issue)
  2. I’ve never understood the forum-police mentality of getting frustrated at people for asking questions on a forum. And fyi - I Scrolled through the first three pages of this forum. Not one other “what game should I buy thread”. So there is that too… one other thing. I downloaded and played a demo - but I can’t get Into games against AI. Never could play CMx1 against AI either. Human vs human is the only way I will enjoy this game. final thought- another great thing about forums is that some people enjoy being asked questions so they can sharing their opinions. to those that were helpful - thanks!!
  3. Trying all the demos would be faster than asking people that know if there are gameplay differences???
  4. Hello. I’m looking to get back into CM after being off for over a decade. (I was a diehard CMx1 fan. Bought CMSF couldn’t get into it. Then had some life circumstances change where I couldn’t game like before) can someone list out which engine each game is currently running on? And is there a gameplay difference between any of the WWII games - other than available units? thanks for the help!!
  5. King Philips War novelized in any of the above? Looked for that also, but couldn’t find anything interesting. And thanks for these recommendations. I will definitely read some of these.
  6. I’ve read a small bit of this. Couldn’t get into it. Might try again
  7. Thanks for this recommendation. I will give this a read (and still looking for a book as described in the original post).
  8. I’m glad to see you recommend the Fort. That is on my ‘to read’ list. I’m trying to read novels in as close to chronological order as I can, and wanted to read a few 7 years war and pre revolution books before tackling a number of revolution era books. Note - I have read Agincourt by Cornwell and really liked it, as well as a Kindle sample of Sharpe’s Tigers (which I think I will read when I get to the 1800s).
  9. Looking for recommendations for good historical fiction books set in colonial/frontier US between start of 7 years war and America revolution. A couple that I liked are “Follow the River” by Thom and “Rise to Rebellion” by Shaara. I’m asking here because I haven’t had much luck in other searches/forums. And I know this place used to have some very well read history folks. (I assume it still does, but I haven’t been playing much since the CMx1 days). Thanks!
  10. Bump - Is anybody playing RT against humans?
  11. Where is the best place to find opponents that are online that are looking for a game immediately?
  12. How does the game determine if you control a VL? Are there any subtleties that are not mentioned below?
  13. Is there a printer-friendly PDF version? Or is there an easy way in Acrobat to just print text without the background image?
  14. (Long time CMx1 user, couldnt get into CMSF) Played one game and I like it. The game plays well on my computer, which is good. Thanks BFC - I am hoping this steals way too much time from my work!!!
  15. Big thumbs up from me too. I'd rather have other gameplay and game features than this (or auto-maps), e.g Co-play. And that isnt sarcasm.
  16. Obviously I lack in communication skills, because I never said hand made maps are a step backward. The best maps are without a doubt hand-made. And I wont try to clarify anything else, because apparently I am not very good at it.
  17. Exactly. release the game already so we can stop all this nonsense
  18. Ridiculous was the term I used ... sigh. but it continues. I dont think this is a non-point. I'm sure I played 300 CMx1 QBs. The majority of those were medium size, small village or farmland, moderate trees, moderate hills. Those are the maps that I liked. So to find unique maps the play CMBN on that will give me the replayability to 300 QBs will take time trying to find more maps. And then add that into trying to make sure that your opp hasnt played on the map before. I'm not saying that CMBN sucks because of it, I'm just saying it isnt as good as having an auto-generated map. I never rejected any CM auto-generated maps. Not once that I can remember. To be a CMx2 fan do you have to believe that CMx1 auto-maps sucked? The only map I ever remember being unhappy playing on was a CMSF non-auto-generated map.
  19. Well you are obviously a very different player than i am. I have played hundred of QBs, 90% on auto-generated maps, against probably 100 different people. I cant remember one person saying they would only QB on a custom map. I am sure they are out there, but I didnt find them. You do know that you can use pre-made map in CMx1 games? Done that plenty of times, but it was always more work than just having the game build one. The significant difference is that you have instant and infinite playability on - what myself and the hundreds I played against - decent maps without having to take extra time to find a map. As I have said before, it isnt that big of a deal. I just feel like I am being told the game is better without the auto-genate option, which makes no sense to me. (And I understand why there is no auto-generate. Im fine with that.) And now that I am thinking about this, the CMx1 auto-maps were better than the game supplied CMSF maps that I played QBs on in CMSF (an admittedly small sample).
  20. Maybe I just want a snickers at home instead of having to go find a godiva store ... This really isnt that complicated. When comparing CMx1 game features to CMx2, CMx1 has a good feature (whether you want to admit it or not) that is not included in CMx2, i.e. auto-generated maps. I know they will never be in CMx2. Im not even asking for them to be added. But dont try to act like NOT having auto-generated maps is an improvement ... or whatever point you are trying to make. See this is where it gets ridiculous. 1. So CMx1 would be a better game without auto-generated maps? Absolutely not. Then why do you say that CMx2 is better without that feature. Makes absolutely no sense. 2.Do CMx1 games have 10 x 200+ hand crafted maps that are better quality than the auto-generated ones? Yes. Do at least a portion of gamers prefer the simplicity & time savings of auto-generated maps than trying to find user maps for their QBs. Absolutely. So the fact that there are lots of pre-made maps does not mean that having an auto-generated map feature would not be even better for gamers like me. And there are plenty of us. Why is this such a sacrilege?
