Wonderfully dramatic! Is this intermission? I need to go get some popcorn.

I think this is a key factor in pulling off an ambush. Give the enemy more than one thing to deal with, it buys you time as they try to assess the various threats.
I heartily agree with you sburke. This is exactly how I do it when setting up a kill I need to get on the battlefield. I learned this method while playing CMSF actually. The Syrians will never be able to react as quickly as the technologically superior NATO vehicles or troops. I usually pick one vehicle or infantry unit to act as the sacrificial lamb and another to act as the killer of my target. Using the "pause command" of about 15 seconds on the vehicle which will expose itself and do the killing, I send the other sacrificial lamb unit ahead to draw attention of target, thus giving the killing vehicle time to aquire safely and target the enemy. This method works well in the CMBN series as well...I would say even better considering the technologies are very similar in the WW2 genre.

Most excellent Kuderian! You know, at first when the CW module came out and we were able to play with universal carriers, I initially thought they would be useless. But as I've played more with them in matches, I've actually found them to be excellent battle taxis getting my troops to places I want them quickly.

Very cool stuff noob! Really enjoying this.

I love the name of the reporter...Cy Burnett. LOL. Looking forward to the coming episodes.

A sticky for an AAR or DAR thread would be great.
-
That looks beautiful. I'm going to try making a map myself for the first time. Reading up on google earth, map editor in CMFI etc. Any pointers you would recommend?
-
Great thread gentlemen. This should be a sticky IMHO.
-
I've definately noticed that the "assault command" seems to work much more realitistic and flows better, especially when you use the "target briefly" command in conjunction with it. They seem to assault with better team work IMHO.

@Dowly
Beautiful stuff sir! I especially like that first one, talk about atmospheric!
-
@EZ
Those shots are really, really superb sir!

You know what would be nice? If someone (who knows, maybe even me) would put together some sort of PDF manual on terrain in CMBN/CMFI and give us its strengths and weaknesses in terms hiding units, movement speeds on units, etc. That would be a pretty cool thing.
-
I want to see it all and when it's cool, I want to see it a hundred times from a hundred angles, even if it's only a platoon sized skirmish.
Mord.
Absolutely! There is some serious drama going on in those battles.

Never do realtime. I always play WEGO.

The last time this was discussed (long long ago) I believe BFC said they're in a bit of a bind due to their not representing landline communications. So things become a bit abstracted on the topic of higher HQ and communications. You see this sometimes in CMBN too but its less apparent because radios are so much more common.
That would be an interesting implementation for BF and gamewise...landline communications. I wonder if it could be done?

Really loving this thread! Two thumbs up.

heh... kind of hard to miss when he creates mods for the game ...
He also likes to use CMBN game engine to make little movies advertising his wargamer's journal. Look them up on youtube. Actually, look below for example:

It's a PPSh-41 kindly borrowed by the Mujahedeen...
And here I thought you were BF's backdoor channel giving us a sneak preview of the Bagration module.

Beautiful work there Mord.

Absolutelly beautiful!

Welcome Lokik! You are going to love this game. Don't be shy about asking questions. The community is a great community. Read the manual. Live your dreams of being a tactical commander in WW2.

Excellent.

You know noob, you are making me want to reinstall my TOC games and actually purchase the John Tiller Normandy game!

The Italians are fun in the same way as the other minor Axis nations (Rumania, Hungary, Finland... Bulgarians?) were in CMBB. And of course how the Brits and NATO nations had to be handled differently in CMSF. Finding out what they are good at (and not good at) is the challenge. Good stuff.
I heartily agree. I remember the first mission I ever played as Italians in CMBB. Can't remember the name but I remember every other detail. It was from that mission I started aquiring books and such about the Italian experiencein Russia. Started same process with Hungarians and Romanians. This game is a learning center of activity.
