  1. My question was regarding the demo version. I was asking how to add units in the editor in it. I purchased the game yesterday, and of course in the editor now it lets you, as I wrote above regarding it now is a moot point. In the pre-download area FOR THE DEMO VERSION, it states that the editor is functional in that version, only without saves. My question was what was I doing incorrectly to not be able to add units in that version. Thanks
  2. I have been , not really playing with the demo version, but looking at the way the game engine works, etc. Very impressive. However, in all the pre-download areas, it mentions you can experiment with the editor as well, only without the ability to save. I have tried this , and seen that you can indeed make some impressive maps, etc. but cannot add units. Perhaps my idea of what it means as far as full use of the game editor with save disabled, is different from reality. I am inclined, however, to think I am doing something wrong. On a side note, this will be a moot point for myself as I am preparing to purchase anyway, but if anyone can clarify the point still, it would probably be handy for someone. Thanks
  3. Clavicula, what unit are you in? M1A1- We always tool to fight the last war unfortunately as gibson said above. Not sure if we will ever learn, and not sure really if an army can learn that even. As a football fan I compare it to two coaches, each watching game films of the previous weeks games, and each adjusting to what the other will do based on what they did the previous week. It is chess at the highest level, and our opponents watch us as well, and learn, or try to, what we will do in a situation. Then we change how we act based on what we believe they will do. In the end, it is a gamble where the losers take sometimes years into the next war to learn, and start the whole process over again.
  4. Aco4Bn187inf thanks. No, I am an 11A. I see you are a Rakkasan.
  5. I have seen talk on the CM-SF forum regarding new features in that engine. One new feature people seem to want is prisoners, and apparently this is already in the CMBB engine..however, I find no mention of it in the manual, and thus far, have never seen the taking of prisoners occur, with the exception that it counts my men as captured if I surrender. My question is what am I missing here? And, is there any way to force the taking of prisoners? I know that prisoners were a huge factor on the east front in ww2. I have just chalked it up as being out of the scope of the game, but if it is in there, I would enjoy seeing it. Thanks
  6. actually as far as cm-sf..the cmmods site says "coming soon" for the mods..so I guess there are none there yet?
  7. Well, I believe that price wise, he has already been proven wrong..Steve has already said what the price would be above in this same topic. I have my doubts as to whether anyone, Kellysheroes included, would like to go to work at their job, and be told that since they already did basically the same things last week, they should not be paid for putting the finishing touches on that big project this week.... just to put it into comparison.
  8. This probably is a workaround rather than a bug. However, for what it is worth, the Wehrmacht did have the primary command of most tanks overall in the hands of officers who were not actually in the tanks themselves, although admittedly not down at the platoon level. Also current doctrine and training in US forces would allow for this at times, as most US armored units, again above platoon level though, answer to officers who are not actually in a tank themselves. Overall, it likely is not an exploit however, as IRL the tanks would have some sort of platoon level command structure left. It is probably a game workaround to cover that without going deeper into which tank has the next highest rank, etc.
  9. It seems that some people in this thread are confusing the current cm-sf with the topic which is a world war 2 title, nothing regarding snowing or not in syria, etc. Huntarr..We are coming to get our rope back
  10. I would like to sum up my experience with BFC. 1st. I purchased, happily, Strategic Command and Tacops. Being very pleased with them, I then noticed this forum. That was followed up with purchases of CMBB, TOW, and CMAK. I continued mostly reading the forums for CMx1, and was very happy with this company. Then one day I ventured looking at this game, and in the process, stumbled across what seemed to be BFC slamming their customers. I was outraged a company would do this. That was last week. Now, I have watched and read on this forum the past week, and I must say I have seen the light. I am now amazed at how fickle the basic customers are in this genre. On review, I have even seen pieces of that in myself. I have to say now, it is amazing that BFC or anyone else puts up with what they do on a regular basis, it must indeed be out of a love for the games themselves, when each thing gets praised by some and slammed by others. So my input here is simply this..guys, keep doing what "floats your boat" as someone before said...without that, I am sure this business would drive you crazy. You put out a good system, anyone who wants perfection, last I looked, we were still looking for recruits
  11. Steve, Thank you for the reply. I am curious, although I completely understand if it is still a secret, about one thing. You stated here in your reply that you wouldn't be doing another CMx-1 game. Most people in that particular forum think the cm-campaigns game will be based on cmbb. Personally, CMBB I consider a masterpiece, but the engine in this new variation also shows a lot of promise. So, I am curious as I said, will campaigns be a cmbb Part2, or a CM-SF module? And May I say that it is encouraging you do listen to your customers, listening does not require following what we say, impossible as you pointed out with everyone, but simply that you at least notice what we say and consider it, which I now see you do. Great job sir.
  12. I have purchased 5 games from this company and will likely purchase more. I hope that they do listen to their customers however. I , and nearly everyone I know who has purchased, the titles like cmbb, would have paid even more for them. Perhaps the direction to go is not to cut things out, but to increase the price. People gladly go to stores and purchase games they will only play for a month or two, for $50-60 US. Many will pay that and even a little more for games that can be played infinitely. Just my two cents.
  13. Actually I am assuming here you are referring to me. You misread my original post, and never read my reply in that topic. My problem was what I saw as a company specifically trying to alienate some of its customers, which is the opposite of what is learned in Business 101. Since that post was made I have gotten a better understanding of the situation however. I never would refuse to buy for a foolish reason, but I would refuse to buy even a quality game from a company that did not care about it's customers. On this subject, I completely side with Battlefront. Nearly every game puts out modules of some sort. Nothing wrong there at all. As an officer in the US Army I would even recommend this title, with some tweaks, for some realistic training in small team tactics. [ March 03, 2008, 01:36 PM: Message edited by: abneo3sierra ]
  14. I would vote for continued realism vs sci-fi. If they could produce a sci-fi title without taking anything away from their main audience, I would say go for it though. However, they would likely not be able to do that, as any dollars and time spent on the one, by the nature of the business, probably come from the other.
  15. Completely understood sir. Stay safe, and from what I can tell, it is a fine product.
  16. Actually, I always pay for the best, and just stumbled on to what appeared was BFC telling their customers to get lost. Your argument does actually shed light on that subject, and I understand somewhat a reason there. If you had taken the time to read my post however, you would have seen I had not yet bought this product. Do not make instant assumptions I "purchased the cheap version" next time. As for your RAAC, mine was professional curiousity as a Capt in the US 101st. Your attitude however is not what I saw in my dealings with Aussies. But, I can see your side of the argument at least now, and it helps knowing that it was another customer saying go to hell, rather than the company. I would be a mite angry if I paid more for a product and then saw everyone trying to get the extra as a freebie also. Regards
  17. Actually, if you are the Mikey D that does the great mods for CMBB..nice to meet you, I love your work. Not the BFC I know either, I am a many times happy customer..CMBB, Strategic Command, TACOPS, TOW..if anything I have looked for reasons TO purchase the games. As a military officer myself I enjoy the realism they infuse in their products. The manual or no manual, is not a deal killer..the deal killer is that from here, they seem to be telling their customers to get lost. I hope not, and would accept pretty much ANY reason, but they should have a reason. Thanks
  18. I am interested in whether or not you actually are speaking for Battlefront gibsonm.. On a side note, if you are actually in the RAAC what unit are you with? As to your post, not certain if it was aimed at me. I do own acrobat plus..and am quite certain I can easily do this, that is a minor point. The more pressing point for me is a company that can blatantly tell it's customers to go to hell. From my vantage point, that is what I see here. I prefer to be wrong.
  19. As a several time purchaser from battlefront games, who was considering purchasing this game as well, this discussion has basically guaranteed that I will not. I am stunned by what seems an extremely calloused attitude towards their customers. That is, unless I am just totally not understanding something here..Is there anyone who can give an actual defense for what appears to be a stance of"go to hell customers?" here? Or someone please explain how I am mistaken. I am a huge fan and would love to give BFC the benefit of the doubt, if I can even find a reason...
  20. Just noticed that myself. The original post was from a few years back though, so GDog was just trying to link to the source I believe.

  22. GDog.. good post, and JasonC awesome reply. GDog, it appears you are doing what I am looking at doing, setting up a campaign-type game. I am still fairly new to CM gaming though, and have been trying to find a guideline for how to do this, I have some of my ideas, but perhaps we could trade ideas? It seems like this is the idea behind the "cm campaigns" game coming out, but for months, before I purchased CMBB, i have watched and waited for that game, and still no clue when it will be out take care
  23. sounds very much like you applied real world tactics as described here: Reconnaissance </font>
