  1. I think you're mistaken about what's happening here, my experience with this is that if you select an unoccupied vehicle, your view reverts to the 'global' FOW, the same as if you had no unit selected. In other words, selecting the UAZ gives you the same view as 'clicking the map' as you described above. My bet is that you do have another unit spotting the AAV, you just haven't noticed.

  2. Actually, it wasn't frustrating at all, it was very entertaining in fact. It was like watching someone get hit by lightning, repeatedly. Which can be entertaining if you know the person'll be fine, or if you don't particularly like him.

Now, if it was a PBEM rather than a random QB...

  3. I recently lost three crack T-90's to a single regular BMP-1 in a quick battle against the AI.

Now that I've semi-recovered from that shock and partially coherent, I can describe the event.

The first T-90 had just crested a hill, and was taken out by a Sagger from a hull-down, very well hidden BMP. The T-90 spotted the enemy just as the Sagger scored the one-in-a-thousand hit and knocked it out frontally.

The next T-90 was driving up that same hill, but became bogged, presenting that same well-hidden BMP with a flank shot. Another Sagger launched, another T-90 knocked out.

The third I had intended to position right next to the first T-90 that was lost, at the crest of the hill. Unfortunately, on it's way to that location, it was detracked by cannon fire from the BMP-1. A Sagger followed the immobilization, and history was made.

Three Saggers, three dead T-90's, no shots fired by my side.

  4. 'Pooh' was slowing down toward the end but the last 40mins of the following mission 'Milk Run' were a complete slideshow during the action phase. The replay phase and command phase were fine but when I pressed the red button it was unwatchable. If I saved and exited out of CMSF:M and reloaded the save it would be smooth for 3-4 turns.

Same exact story for me on that mission.

  5. Ok I used the unpacker thing in the mod tools folder and put the brz file back into my z folder but it still doesn't show. Whether I rename it back to "splash-background-v1.brz" or leave it named "packed.brz". A readme file would help in this case.

I don't follow exactly what you did there, but here's a step-by-step that should work.

    1. UNpack the yamm.brz file.

    2. create a new folder called yamm (or anything else of your choosing) and place all of the unpacked files into that folder.

    3. place M1TC's image into your yamm folder. You'll have a dialog asking if you want to overwrite any files if you've done it right; hit ok.

    4. place your yamm folder into your zmod folder.

If M1's mod is itself a .brz file, you'll have to unpack it as well before doing step 3.

There is a readme file in the mod tools directory, give that a glance and it should clarify why the above will work, and in general how mods work in this game. Essentially, it doesn't matter if a mod is packed or unpacked, or what it is called, so long as it is in a z folder. The reason you probably didn't see M1's mod when using YAMM is because YAMM took precedance over M1's mod. Again, the readme should make all of this clear.

  6. If it is bmp file, the game will not load it. You first need to "pack" it using the RezPack feature in the ModTools folder. Then place it in Z.

This is not true. The game WILL load *.bmp's in the zmod folder; in fact all of my mods are unpacked bmps and they all work. What must be happening is that the original YAMM background is taking precedence over this new one. So, one way of getting it to work would be to unpack YAMM with the rez unpacker tool, and replace the background screen in there with this new bmp.
