  1. I did give it thought that is natural for anyone to notice the unfavorbale events when things are not going their way. I did however wanted to hear it from you that the weather patterns are just that random. Your word is good enough for me. Now whatever the changes, if it's only behavior I don't think the AI can snatch france from me. A human player yes, and I cannot see the AI ever behaving like a human.
  2. Merging is the answer. Two epxerienced armies/crops who are not at full strength should be allowed to merge to produce anywhere from a stregth of 2 to 15(the maximum). I say 2 in the rare case of having two extremely reduced armies or corps at strength 1. However maybe it's not possible in current programing of SC. A good idea I think if Hubert decides to do a new SC game.

Yes Hubert I know about the script options, but I wouldn't want to handicapt the AI, I'm sure there is a reason why you did this, I'm sure you and the crew gave much thought and evaluation when making the game. What bugs me is the favortism in weather when things go wrong for germans, nice sunny winter if france does not fall in summer? The germans have so many planes when they attack russia, it forces a defensive play until a second front is opened. And personally I like to do some offensive not just absorb their attacks. If france falls russians are in no position(zero chance) to hold the germans until the wehrmacht reaches the historical front line. However I found a way out of this, I can hold france(without being near submission) until russia joins and double team germany. None of german historical allies join the axis, however oddly enough(favortism again) turkey goes from 0 to 100% german ally? Annoying and unrealistic! Germany facing a double front and Turkey joins the axis bandwagon?

  5. Well I do not play as much as these guys, I played at most 20 games of WaW so far. The game is made hard, something which I do not like since I enjoy crushing the enemy. Even when holding France until March 41, the Germans would still be pumped on steroids. They receive so many units, that the war truly becomes dependent on the western allies opening a western front. As the russians you will have to play defensively. Yesterday I decided to play Fall Weiss(expert, no experience bonus), have not played for a while and came with a new strategy, hold France period. Once russia entered the war I sent all russians on offensive, despite taking some losses, the germans soon started to crumble. The war ended in winter 42. I enjoyed it! American troops hardly got involved(as time span did not allow it). I pulled it off and I'm sure I can do it again and again, perhaps not against human players but I can severely bleed them, considering that human players do not get countless free untis as the computer does.
  6. What I like about SC2 is time. A global explansion would not interest me, it would be too long, with way too many powers to manage wether axis or allies. If the designers have the tools they should remake another SC with better graphics and more sophisticated warfare. Specialising further in ww2 european theater might prove a good investment.

  8. Yeah don't hold on to any city until the germans approach the historical frontier: leningrad-moscow-kharkov. To hold moscow is cake as long as you built the frontal fortification. I however dont retreat the corps from riga or any of the earlier cities. Whats the point of retreating them? Reinforce them so they can delay the axis as approach to your porposed defensive line(leningrad-moscow-kharkov). I play very defensive in leningrad(simple dont attack just reinforce). In moscow I only attack when the odds are good(behind the fortification ofcourse). I put most of my forces in the south to contain the German expansion and to attack them there. They are the weakest in the south(using minor countries units). However their airpower is something youre going to have to figure out how to deal with. My strategy for fall weiss is buy an HQ for soviets, 2 anti- air, one artillery, the rest is research and corps. One research I always try is anti-air. Put the HQ near leningrad but behind the river, put the anti air just south-east of leningrad and the artillery just behind that tiny lake south of leningrad and the HQ safely behind them. This will make leningrad a tough nut to crack. AI cant anyway. The other antiair I put in the south so when siberian reenforcements come I have 2 HQs and two antiwair in the south(if you plan to be more active on this part of the front). Works pretty well.
  9. I have won with major victory the 41 scenerio. 41 is the easiest for the axis. I also won the 42. Never tried 43, 44, or 40. ?? Have you tried the axis at expert? You get absolutely nothing from plunders. 220 mpp from france. What the hell is that? Russia has too many units by 41 and you have less than the germans have in 41 scenerio. Fall weiss is unbalanced at expert, because you simply dont get anough mpps while the allies mpps would be bigger than usual(expert level). Forget about north africa. Youlle have to concentrate all your HQs, dive bombers and tanks in the east to gain an initetive before the allies become active in the west. I have easier time in 41, besides wining in the east I also can kick the brits out of egypt and middle east.
  10. lol My first time was a similar experience I got real pissed. But I developed strategies quickly for a 2nd game. 1) Battle for atlantic, use US peace time to develop intelligennce and anti-sub techs. Also fight smart with the British navy. I was able to discourage AI from the atlantic war by destroying most of its subs before US entered the war. 2) Never tried it. The game is pretty rigged when playing against AI, the scripts are against you. 3) You can relocate planes by operating them. 4) Germany produces alot of planes because they receive alot of free units from the scripts in 41 and 42, so the AI buys a whole bunch of tactical bombers. Ural factories activate after the kharkov mines fall or when axis approach moscow, something along those lines activates it. I have a question for Hubert. In one of my games I held France until July or August 41. The Axis didnt even invade jugoslavia and greece. I think soviets joined the allies and the eastern front was open. Why did russia join so fast? Sure makes the game harder but I did eveything right and not gain any advantage? Second the German advance was slow(they still had units coming from France ) and I only engaged them when it was safe. By March 42 leningrad-smolenks-odesa was the front line. AS germans are advancing twards the kharkov mines in spring 42 Turkey joins???? Why would Turkey be so suecidel? Thats very irrational. Ofcourse it made the game harder as I had to send 2-3 untis to seal the turkish border. Anyhow by august 42 the axis were on retreat. This was expert 0 experience. ps are all the scripts avaliabe to chose when playing mulitplayer?

  13. I am a rookie at this. I downloaded the unzipped file(s) to campaing folder. Do I have to unzip the folder or what? Someone please show me the steps.
  14. That means the creaters put efforts on the games perfomance rather graphics. so quality is the priority of this game. Graphics for a any strategy game are more of a luxury rather than a nececesity. A positive from this is you do not need a fancy video card to play this game. Anyone can play it. 1)tiles vs hexes. I don't think any game can replicate actual ww2 encirclements. Playing against another person, it will not work. We all know how ww2 played out, blitzkrieg, envelop the enenmy, thus massive envelops will not happen unless you willingly do not retreat from an enemy offensive. It is why this game does not have massive encirclements, the destructions of enemy units symbolises it. Since this is multi-player game you cant have a dum AI that gets encircled but when playing against another person you end up chasing a retreating enemy with forces intact gaining strength. The game wouldn't not be balanced, become unrealistic and not fun to play. 2) You can't stack, but if you place your extra naval units adjacent to the port, they would still be suplied(level 9). So having naval battles near your ports= advantage because your units would be better supplied than the enemy. the only limit of ports is that you can repair or upgrade one naval unit per port per turn. 3)bring you crusiers at the port in holland and engage the royal navy with planes and crusiers(keep your cruisers next to the port) than finish off their battleships and carrier with your subs from the north. Every time a naval unit is nearly destroyed send them to the ports of north or baltic sea and repair them than send them back to the channel. The Brits don't have the mmp to keep up. regarding planes, left click on them and check out the stuff you can do. you can make a plane unit to intercept or stay grounded. subs are good against battleships, crusiers are good against subs. I've only played the demo myself and the game looks very promising. Try being the allies and keep the Germans from capturing France until the demo is over. Or be germany in d-day and win. Than you'lle see how awsome this game is.
  15. From a previous thread I don't see fall weiss on the mini-campaign list of the expansion. Did the porject get scrambled or is it a typo? I'm not complaining, I love the game 100% with or without it. I am only curious to know what happened.
  16. Just curious, why is this game poorly advertised? Personally I think it's the best strategic ww2 game, though I admit I only played making history and hearts of iron 2. I like the simplicity of managing resources and the emphasis on strategy. And it doesnt take forever to play. Back to the original question, I think someone should go around ww2 forums like axis forum and such and post screenshots of the game. Just a suggestion. Oh and don't post the standard pics which are used on the website itself. It makes the game look fixed.
  17. If you already had sc2 to upgrade it will cost $25. If you don't than to buy sc2 plus expansion it will cost 45$. If anyone has not noticed yet, the expansion went GOLD TODAY!!!!
  18. alright!!!!! i discovered this game in august/setember, was ready to buy it but than learned the expansion was coming so waited. ill be joining you guys soon.
