  1. Yeah I also saw it blow up too SeaBee when I played the scenario. I have messed around with IED before and it is very hit or miss. I have a scenario I am working on where a building blows up soon as the scenario starts. I have a trigger man start near a US unit, so in theory soon as the scenario opens up the trigger man's A.I. should trigger the bombs I placed allaround and under the building. I would say it only goes off 1 out 5 times and that is with a cell trigger man. Also a lot has to do with what type of trigger man you use. A cell phone has a much high probability to go off than say a wire or radio trigger. I think IED's should be sketchy considering the people behind them are rarely trained in the use of explosives properly. I just hope for the day they have vehicle flavor objects(what a novel idea??? I mean who was the smart guy who thought an air conditioner made a better flavor object than a car?) and then you can hide your IED amongst other cars without giving it away. As it stands now you really have to suspend your disbelief to imagine walking past the only car on the map and thinking it won't blow up in your face. I think IED's in their present form need a bit of work.

  2. I also agree that with the community of this size, having a campaign with issues is a bit unforgivable. There are so many people who would give their left foot to beta test, there shouldn't be errors in campaigns or scenarios that BF creates for that matter. Love you guys, but it amazes me how things slip through like this sometimes.

  3. Never made that conclusion even after 100's of hours playing this game. If you are using buddy aid properly then you should have more wounded. Getting my wounded men out of harms way is always priority one when I play. If I need to park a vehix in front of the downed man so that a squad can attend I do it. I always try and play as realistically as possible. I think you might just be seeing something that looks like a pattern but really isn't.

  4. The funny thing about this scenario Thomm is that the Abrams and the the AFV's are on a +5 time counter each so either the Abrams or the AFV's could come in first. You can tear up the the AAV's pretty quickly if those AFV's come in first. Perhaps I will tweak the A.I. a bit on the AFV's. Do you think I should add a tank or two to make things feel a bit more challenging?

  5. What? Israelis have feeling but Syrians don't? I think the whole prospect of a nation getting angry over a video game, and a ridiculously small game at that, is preposterous. Do you think the international community is really reading the mission briefs for Combat Mission: Shock Force? I think including the Israelis is genius and they need to find a way to do it. I would have loved to see more red countries brought into the conflict, like Iran.

  6. Yep, the first time I played through this I too had the same issues. I had all my engineers line up side by side and I blew half the wall open. Vehicles would not enter the compound. So the only work around now is to really use you soldiers to clear the compound entrance, then bring in the vehicles via the road. There really isn't a big need for the vehicles right away, as most of the fighting is building to building in that compound. Thanks for your thoughts on the scenario.

  7. New scenario posted at Cmmods. A Marine Expeditionary Unit goes head to head with Syrian Mechanized Airborne, while they try and secure a corridor into the port city of Latakia. Hopefully this will part of a series I am doing based on the capture of the port city of Latakia. We have been having a lot of fun with this map for PBEM games. Be sure and rate it or stop by here and gibe me your thoughts. I would greatly appreciate it.

  8. Wow great site, I can't wait until it really gets rolling. I have been experimenting with this idea before ever of hearing of byte battles (yesterday), I have been taking QB maps and giving them simple orders and equal forces on both sides and using them for PBEM games. Of course I am using much larger maps, but I would love to design a few for your site. Great work. Will be in touch with a map or two in the future. Thanks for what you do!

  9. Bump George....I am playing this PBEM now and the first wave of reinforcements have come and been dispatched. Are there more coming or is it basically over? Every now and then a lone gunman comes running down the street and gets mowed down, but since the first big pushes it seems like the game is over. Neither me nor my opponent know what to expect. This is a brilliant PBEM map by the way. We are having hella fun with it.
