  1. I wonder what is meant by "larger scope" in CMx2. Larger maps? Larger formations of units? Controlling anything over a company is abit of a strain atm (both, on a computer and player's micro managment skills), so i hope we don't go into brigade level of representation.

Looks like it's going to be at least 1.5-2 years till we see temperate setting with modern Russian stuff, so alot can change till then. One thing i noticed after playing CMSF extensively is that I'm alot less excited for a WW2 title, or rather not excited at all. After being skeptical of initial port to modern setting, i am completely converted. Modern combat rocks!

Ditto, as much of a history buff as I am I have to agree, another WWII, no matter how awesome really doesn't hold any interest for me. I mean come on, we have all been playing WWII themed games for umpteen million years. Although none as tactical or realistic as the Battlefront titles, how many times can we play the same battles over and over, no matter how graphically improved they are? I see the future as being CMSF. I think it is great they are supporting both titles, but I feel CMSF could have a huge market with the new patch. Alot of people dumped this game upon initial release because it was a cranky and buggy. I was one of them. When the last patch came out I discovered the best game I have ever played. I have not touched another game for months and with the great scenario designers out there it shouldn't ever get dull. I mean there is no comparable feeling in the WWII genre that is like watching a Javelin fire and destroy a tank across the board....priceless.

  2. Runyan99,

Once you've figured out the make and model that'll get the job done and is in your price range (read a lot of auto reports, drove a dozen different cars of every stripe to see what was there, how well each fit me, drove and handled), you need to find several dealers all with the same car. You need to be serious, for if you're even slightly not serious, they'll catch on and you'll be toast.

You start with the first dealer. Tell the salesperson you're buying a car today (creates tremendous urgency via visions of commissions), that you want the dealership's BAFO (Best And Final Offer) on a (specify make, model, version, special features, etc), informing the saleperson that you'll be taking this offer to other competitors nearby. If one of them beats the BAFO, this dealership loses the sale. If it's a tie or the dealership you first visit wins outright, you'll be back. This completely changes the ordinary sales dynamic --by standing it on its head! Now, instead of begging for a break, you're in the driver's seat, so to speak.

This drives salespeople and their bosses crazy, but they want to eat and need to sell cars. Someone else will likely beat the BAFO, but what you did at the first, you now keep doing. I've seen people practically retch when confronting another dealership's BAFO, so expect the prospective seller to retire to the sales manger's office and for

howls to heard from both ends. Also, these people are intensely competitive, as you'll see from their walls of sales awards. Watch as figures are tweaked, edges sought, etc., after which the new, cheaper price is sent upline. Thus, after a lot of caterwauling while you wait, don't be surprised if the salesperson walks out, walks over to you, throws out a hand and congratulates you on your purchase. Of course, this assumes you have clean credit, a decent down or the funds on account in some manner. In my case, many moons ago, it was 20% down, with 80% financing through my credit union. Do NOT let them work you. Stick to your guns on every item in the deal!

If you have a trade in, do all your negotiating and seal the arrangements before discussing trade in. Too many games otherwise!

Do NOT let all your hard negotiating be undone by such nonsense as rust and dust, the ridiculous undercoating upsell. Likewise, if you want certain rims or other goodies on your beast, they form part of the negotiation from the beginning.

You need to think in terms of total price out the door, NOT price, then prep fee, then destination charges, then taxes, license, special smog fee, etc. One of my best car deals was a lovely used Fiat sedan bought out the door in the early 1980s for $2000.00. Next to cold, hard cash, there are few things more persuasive than someone holding an obviously rock solid settlement check from a major insurer. I figured out what I wanted after trying out a bunch of cars at several dealers, waltzed back in, plopped down the check and told the astonished salesperson I wanted the Fiat for $2000.00, out the door, everything included. I refused every attempt to work that number up from what I'd said I would pay, made it quite clear I would buy on the spot if my request was met, but would walk otherwise. Wasn't quite the end of the world, but it sounded that way when the salesperson took my offer to the manager. I got the car on my terms.

Thanks to the Internet, you have the ability to do research undreamed of when I did these deals. You can find out what the Kelly numbers are for any given car, in a bunch of different configurations. And you can check dealer inventories for as far afield as you wish to range. Likewise, you can play BAFO online if you so choose. And don't believe the manufacturer's sticker price, either, for there are all sorts of spiffs and ups provided to dealers. Are there manufacturer and/or dealer sponsored incentives? If so, are they what helps you? If the choice is between cash back now and a better APR, figure which one serves you, assuming either does. Always ask if there are any promotions or incentives being offered. Compare them carefully to see whether they're useful to you.

Sometimes, accessory packages will be thrown in to sweeten the pot. Take two identical cars, say, convertibles in a balmy climate. If price is the same on the identical models from the two dealers, and you've already determined that AC isn't a must, but one dealer will throw it in for free (several hundred bucks more otherwise), and you'd like to have it, then it makes it easier to decide, doesn't it?

Don't know whether it's as big an issue with so much robotic assembly, but the rule used to be not to buy a car built on a Monday (recovering from the weekend), a Friday (thinking about the weekend) and most particularly one built following a major holiday.

This isn't comprehensive, and there are doubtless sites that explain things much better than I did, but this is from direct experience.

    Good luck!

    Regards,

    John Kettler

Brilliant, also something else that drives sales people crazy is just walking out after the offer you a crap price. I have had the salesperson and the manager chasing me to my car. It worked like a charm and they really did give me their BFO after that.

  3. The only reason Madden is not being supported on PC is because playing sports games on pc's is ridiculous. Could you imagine playing CMSF on an XBOX? Having a background in the retail and production part of the gaming industry, I can honestly say if Madden was truly a piracy risk, wouldn't every EA PC game be in that same predicament? The number of people who play Madden on PC is like 1% of the entire population that plays Madden. While you make great arguments, This is a huge case of EA covering up the fact that no cares about sports games on PC. EA is also struggling a bit this year. Piracy isn't nearly the monster people make it out to be. It is nowhere near what it used to be and now that consoles are on the scene, it exists only mainly in the PC arena. PC gamers are usually smarter than your average gamer, so piracy is bound to happen. But real adult gamers will pay for a product if they believe in the company, I think most people who game with BF products purchased their copy and understands that if we don't support it, it's products will go away.

  4. My only reason for guessing that scenarios will be larger is becauseI assume you would be dealing with more soldiers. I mean those LAV's hold 20 soldiers. And if I am wrong that is why i am asking the questions about what is going to be different between Army and Marines as far as the scenerios will be concerned. What do the Marines do differently from the Army as far as what their mission would be. I know the unit differences, but I just want to know how missions will be different.

  5. How will the battlefield change to fully use the new marines module? I want to start thinking about new scenerios, but I want to have an idea how using marines will differ than using army units. It is my guess that the battlefields will be bigger. I was just curious how everyone plans to use the marines in scenarios they create.

  6. No because I have made several CAM files since then, so I assume it should have synced. No matter wher I place the humvee with the JTAC crew, I end up with a JTAC crew on the ground and no humvee. I even wiped out all the units and replaced them all in the scenerios with the newest version of the core units. At a loss.

  7. I am finalizing my campaign and each time I try and make the CAM file and start the campaign, there are no units. But when I play the scenarios by themselves the troops are all where they are supposed to be. I followed the directions to the the T. I loaded the file with the core units(the first in the campaign) and made the CAM file. What am I doing wrong?

  8. Another example of false information posted by someone who has no link to Battlefront whatsoever turning into a rumor and, shortly after, almost-fact: 2013 is no relevant date for ANYTHING that is planned at Battlefront. WW2 is planned for next year.

Just read a post with dates. I had no idea it was bad info. I will def be more diligent in the future. Thanks for the heads up.

  9. Ok so first split your groups, have them reenter the Stryker and arm up with the Javelins. If you are on a roof of a tall building morale shouldn't be an issue. Once all rockets are expended join back up with the squad. I always keep a split squad with Javs on overwatch from the highest point on the board. The AI will see things way before you do. I really do trust the AI with Jav's. They have seldom if ever let me down. I know it was covered but the postives way outweigh the negatives.

  10. I have actually am close to finishing a campaign that follows Det-D (Delta Force) on several mission to guide in airstrikes on a suspected Syrian Nuclear Weapons facility. I have been messing around with special forces for sometime now. I think the SpecOps is a great idea. I would just like to see a few more options when clearing buildings. Flash bangs, or gas? I hate entering a building only to get mowed down from people on other levels or by the people standing in the coner on the same floor. Even text book entries go bad, but I think it can be better. I hope Marines will help with some of that. I also would like to see recon drones. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to launch a recon plane and get a better view of enemy units. This is the future of warfare, so I think it needs a place here. I could list many other things I would like to see, but this is a good start.

  11. Before I throw my scenario up on CMMODS, I want someone to test it out and give me their thoughts. Let me know if you are interested. I will email you the scenario (unless there is another way for you to get it? I am new to this). You are taking down a hotel in Syria called the Al Wadi Hotel. It's in the Syrian countryside amongst the olive fields. It's a real place that I found on the internet. I took some liberties with the hotel design, but the rest pretty much matches up to Google Earth. It uses the 5th Special Forces (all elite) against uncons. Let me know if you are interested by giving me your email where I can send the file.

    Thanks in advance,

  12. I would love to see Suburbans (usable by both sides) and some other vehix instead of the standard technical. I was watching the Kingdom yesterday and uncons firing from Mercedes would be awesome. Also uncon American units like Blackwater security. Just watch the Kingdom and you will see the advantage of units like this. I think scenario opportunities would dramatically increase with things like this. Is it my imagination or does this game have the possibility of the greatest modern warfare game ever? I just hope the guys at Battlefront(or some of you awesome modders out there) won't be afraid to step outside the box a bit and make some interesting units, outside the mold of standard military. What say you?
