  1. It should be under utilities in your Theater of War start menu.
  2. I know even at 100 yards a Springfield will blow a exit hole the size of a baseball on a groundhog. Unless it was a graze, that would be one serious flesh wound. Not that I'm personaly looking for my troops to die any easier then they already are.
  3. Yes. Check out the screen shots. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=201&Itemid=262
  4. I'm not too sure about the pixel shader thing. I'm running a ATI X850 which is pretty dated now. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, looks like it could be fun, but it's only on the tactical level of the game. Don't know about Hamachi. THe demo only gives you a tactical level mission. It doesn't show any of the stratigic part of the game. I've only had the game crash once. It was when I lost my first practice campaign. Being the campaign was over, I'm not sure if I missed anything. THe beginning of the campaigns are kind of boring while your building up your forces and bases. You don't have the opportunities to get to go into the 3d tactical part of the game until war starts. That's when things starts getting fun. I've had the game slow down one time when I had a large squadron of planes attacking a base with a large city nearby. But I did many other attacks since then and I haven't seen it slow down like that again. I think it was the city because when I looked the other way, things were smooth. It runs pretty good for the most part on my 3.2 pent 4 and I'm enjoying it. I'm still figuring the game out to be honest though, so hopefully it will be even better once I get more comfortable with everything. I'm not so sure I would want the same depth in the stratigic level for something to work with TOW. But some sort of dynamic campaign for TOW would really do it justice even if it was on a much smaller scale.
  5. Interesting. I wonder how the AI will react in regards to them. Will they hold fire to avoid hitting them? Did the British?
  6. I've been thinking the along the same lines about this game. I recently picked up Pacific Storm Allies and all I could think was how nice it would be if TOW had a stategy game behind the tactical game like PSA has. I think it is a good analogy of what your talking about but only in a WWII naval setting. I love games where your working on a larger goal that could take days or weeks even to finish. It doesn't need to be historicaly accurate, they could always keep historical single missions in as well. Add some direct control as brought up in another thread just like PSA has and that would be great. Obviously all of this will ever happen with a patch, but it would be the ultimate game for me. My wishful thinking is that this never crossed the developers minds when making TOW and they'll take it into consideration on a future game. Heck they're half way there already.
  7. What time zone are you in? Do you play in the evenings? I haven't played any MP yet and wanted to try it. But I don't know if my system is up to par. My 3.4 pentium 4 with a x850 ati does ok in single player with 1 other army most times until a/c does a straffing run. That allways kills my fps. Is online more or less demanding then single player? With two amies my machine starts to slow down. But they are "AI" armies. so that might be putting more load on my CPU then two human "player" armies. Do you guys play any custom mP missions? I hate games that restrict you to a time limit. So I messed around with the editor and made a misson without a time limit. I would spend some more time on making better one if I though it would be used.
  8. Yes you can. All the multiplayer missions are timed though to around 20-25 mins. You can make or edit missions to change this and much more though. You have some deathmatch missions with up to eight slots for players or AI. But depending on your system, you might not want more then 1-2 AI. Mine gets a bit slow if I have more then one AI army. Don't expect to find people to play with online waiting to start a game with you. You'll have to pre arrange the game with someone and use direct IP connection option as the game search server is usually down more then up. I've been wanting to play some multiplayer, but still haven't been able to yet.
  9. I have that iF-16 game. I bought it when it first came out. It was a little slow on my machine then, but later it ran good on newer machines and I had some fun with it. But I won't play any flight sim now though that doesn't support Track-IR. It spoiled me.
  10. I have a question. Did the profit margins go up or down on PC games since the early '90 before consoles really came into the picture as a competitor to the PC market? I'm sure it is more costly to produce PC games now, and even with consoles sucking up some of the market, and the loss due to pirating, hasn't the dramatic increase in PC's worldwide offset this? I don't think there will ever be a problem with a loss of a profitable market for PC games. The problem is that developers have been given a more lucrative media to sell games on so they've taken the easy road.
  11. Couldn't you find a place to host the pics that wasn't full of add pop ups and other rubbish? I quit looking after attempting to look at the second pic which I actually never even made it to.
  12. Try using quick saves (f5) to save and (F6) to load. You can also load quick saves from the saved games menu. They're down at the bottom of the lists. It saves the last two quick saves there.
  13. I would love if they added a direct control mode of units sort of like Faces of War has. This would be really cool when you go to the unit's view (enter).
  14. I agree that Italy should be in the Tunisia Campaign. But you are forgetting that the US was a big part of this particular campaign in N. Africa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunisian_Campaign
  15. I agree, even when you send a tank down the middle of a tree lined road, they knock down all the trees off to thier sides. They do need to reduce their crush zones.
  16. Hehe, I switched to ignore campaign loss after the first mission I lost and it ended my campaign. I figured just because you loose a battle doesn't mean it's the end of the war. I wanted to learn how to play the game and not let it feel stagnated. Now that I understand it more I'm looking forward to replaying the campaigns over. I've learned to really take advantage of using the terrain and cover much more effectively, and scout out the enemy and routes to good places to launch attacks from. I usually take a sniper with good scouting abilities and have him hold fire to do my scouting. I sneak him up to a bush where he can stand up in and get a good observation of the enemy and stay hidden. This lets me get my main force in a good concealed position that's good to launch the attack from before I even fire a shot. You have to make sure your main force is set to hold position as soon as they get where you want them because they'll mess up your plans and start attacking on their own as soon as your scout spots an enemy. Often I found that just scouting around starts triggers that sometimes bring you reinforcements or air, arty and mortar support before you've even started the engagement. You can take out enemy arty positions pretty easy when your scout has spotted them and you have a few tanks or so just over the crest of a hill. You can then bring them over with HE rounds loaded and do an area fire on the enemy arty. Once the enemy arty is silenced, you can cut loose your scout/sniper on the troops. If you opened up reinforcements, you'll have them already prepared and in a better position to resist counter attacks much more effectively too. With tanks, I usually used the column formation instead of the line formation because they are too spread out with the line formation. Once they are in position, I just have all of them together do a rotation towards the enemy and then have them hold position. You can then switch to the free formation and advance them in a tighter line formation this way. I've also discovered the quick save (F5) feature recently. It has been a big help. Once I get confident enough I won't use it to my advantage anymore, switch to harder difficulties and eventually maybe even turn off ignore campaign loss.
  17. I've had a hard time in the same area. I knocked the tracks of a Tiger tank once, but after that I must have had to hit it 30 times to finish it off. Of course that doesn't happen when I'm playing as Germans and have a Tiger. There are alot of details in this game that don't become obvious right away that give you advantages. I'm hoping with more experience I'll learn more of them. I have learned many already, so that's leading me to think it's something I'm just not taking into consideration. I'm still trying to figure out what Numpad + (go to signal source) command does.
  18. TOW and CM are made by two different developers in two different countries. Even if they wern't, not everyone likes turn based games.
  19. I've been watching TOW since it conception when it had other names etc and have been looking forward to it ever since. Finally I ran across it in Best Buys of all places and I had to pick it up once it was in my hands. Well there are some things that I wish were added or different, but overall I've been having allot of fun playing it. It's been running fairly well on my aging P4 3.2 with a ATI X850 when tweaked ok and only 2 armies. Tow2 looks awesome. I've always had a fascination with the African theater for some reason. Don't know why because my family fought on both sides in the European theater. Maybe from watching too much Rat Patrol when I was a kid. I also think it's a great theater for games since you don't have to have so much vegetation and still look real. Hopefully improving frame rates and allowing more details without too much slowdown. I'm hoping Tow2 will allow some sort of skirmish modes where you can select your units yourself and without having a time limits as the current multi player has now. I'm excited about how it looks so far and will be most definitely picking it up when it's released. Oh, hopefully it will have a game search server that's available.
