  2. well, no actually a good p35 board is under 200, a great multi core two or for under three hundred, and mem is now dirt cheap for ddr2.... shoot I spent more on a cooling system just to fart around and reach uber overclocking than on the these three. BUT due to 8800 gt shortages the prices on that card run 242 to 350 US. No need for a fast card, I run my old x1950 pro at med and high settings, before the new card, and it runs great and they are had for about 100 now
  3. really the new 8800gt is so fast in the 512 version sli is redundant exciept for extream applications..

    just an fyi, I saw a great 9 plus minute documentary clip on you tube after typeing eastern front footage.. if anyone is interested I can get the link. It talked about the tiger fire brigades and how they killed both t34 and 34-85 at 2000 plus meters well beyond the ranges of the 34's. and then even with the js series how they where used defensively to take serious casualties etc, great combination of narration, english, and german footage. The "most tank battles where fought at under 1000 meter" type comments do not hold water when looking at Heavy tank battles... I hope to see more 2000 plus engagments where we can accurate simulate german optics and firepower.. as for the patch WOOT the new word, I am so old I had to ask the wife what Woot meant! lol to those working on the patch and add on.. carry on.. and hope all your bugs get caught and squashed! lol

  9. ok, I am sure if I could find my manual etc etc.. so please do not flame me Can we play MORE than one person online, ie.. several players each controlling several groups of troups? that would be fantastic!
  10. I think u missunderstand, it is a great sim, not a strategy game. I noticed immediatelyu with villares boccage cmak I was planning and saying: " where are those buggers going to show up?" where to place my arcs of fir etc.. I love tow as a simple sim, and it will only get better, and I found solo cm of all three incarnations, wrong word??? very easy as the ia was SSOO stupid, so I love TOW and am looking forward to perhaps some multiplayer..
  11. now granted I never really bought into cmak like bb or bo, but I pulled it out of retirement for laptop as tow is incapacitated with my desktop parts spread out all over my desk. I realized that cm series plays out as a strategy game, very cerebrial with a graphics bonus, u get to see your units perform the orders you gave.. while I get a TOTALY different feel to TOW. With TOW, one gets an emersive feel, great graphics with a lot less orders.. much more ability to micro manage. Had the folks designing tow looked at cm and tried to model it more in that line they would have smoothed some ruffled feathers, but they really where not making a new cm, they where heading into sim land, and a beautiful if immature product we have.. I am hopefull I can produce terreign in an editor thats makes sence, my current capacity is limited to adding and polacing units! lol viva lat patch!

  13. Remember asking if I could, not if I should LOL Could I adjust the tank values for each side to lower the dissabiling gun hits I find so unrealistic, and thus makingthe game more to my liking ?
  14. I am not convinced the formulas are correct, I still think, the engine needs to be tweeked and "optics" not just gun dynamics need to be included. When tigers could stand off at 1500 plus meters and kill "tip your hat to the tiger " 34's all war, this engine seems to have been over "Russianized" giving anti tank and other red army guns FAR too accurate hits. I remember seeing a picture of Wittmans tank, or another tank at VB in Normandy with someware around forty hits, it just kept going before quiting, disabling a gun should be tweekable by adding to the physics model.. stating that the model as a justification does not wash in my book. IF it is so ridged, like the large tank block of space, then perhaps the basic design is flawed? I am not looking for perfection, just realistic results. At 500 meters sure, but those numbers should not happen as a RULE in the eastern front. The red army would overwhelm defenses in men and tanks.. assult gun.. if you where running at a German fixed defenses with heavy tanks, "fire brigades" with anything less than a 4 or 5 to one ratio forget about getting through, air and amo being equivalent.. any thoughts this is off should refer to the historical records. All through 42 43 the Germans employed heavy tanks and they where the "stoppers" pretty much untouchable over 1500 meters and GREAT optics and high powered guns, like the dual purpose 88's aa gus allowed far greater accuracy and ranges. This cannot be disputed. It is even more pronounce via the Allies, save in Normandy where distances should be shortened , but the Engine suffers FATAL eror of no cannot see cannot travel through Bocage. there where raises "walls fence trees" that essentailly stopped armor. Allong these line if the editor could be enable to make a height differrence. "mini" cliff, five feet or so it could emulate a Bocage by then adding bushes.. simply have the height differnece, along a line. with a small width, then again down so your paralel dimensions creeate a crest with bushes that stop line ove site and mobile movement ok back to the non dreaming world! Again, I am not a bitter cm lover of pc freak,just think that to get where it could be these may be issues addressed.
  15. I did not even mention smoke LOL Soon, I can feel it in my bones ! For what it is worth,imo cm was a good run and unfortunately failed myself with the third release which was not backward compatable for owners of the first two! PC, see Matrix, is a VERY diverent take on the same ideas found in Tow, somewhat larger scale, but orders structure much differnt.. So, whle I like PC and hope withthe "patched" next release I do not think it compares to TOW... I like it, I love TOW Now where did I leave my tiger? here kitty kitty!
  16. I was thinking of the tanks / infantry / assualt gun / anti tank gun equation. I was thinking about the "gun dissabled " hits that are FAR too frequent per hystorical records see other threads re this issue. I was reflecting how with my desire to see this engine mature, it is still a damn fine engine for those with high to higher end machines. A. If the sighting and variable sighting issues are tweeked, so that even when in a siteable spot non moving troops can vanish, B. gun hits are done away with C. a freindly editor for maps including but not limited too non enterable terriegn, ie bocage etc. I think this game, while differnt from Panzer commander, see MAtrix, while regain the crown held by the first two CM IMO.

    to the above.. visability or LINE OF SITE, how could it not be linked to the map, ie a house in the way etc.. Much criticism has been made of this game engine due to the buttoned tanks see all know all approach to conflict with enemy infantry! Many, myself included had changing los number one , above enterable building smoke morters etc as the needed thing to help this game .

    right back to the patch, are we goingto see anything in addition to multi player addressed and will we see it this month? 11 days till Black Fridat ( the biggest shopping day of the year in US)

  21. dude, this game is in its infancy.. tow2 come on.. give it a year or so and ask that one! 2.Everyone wants to know this! 3.Mine is lower number but if you have the Moscow add on it should be.. go to the home page and downloadds and check it out.
  22. actually no, intering building is forhte add-on.. pay add on, and yes the game has improved slightly buy the first patch.. and soon, days?? a second. the features we all seem to want will be released sometime next year, per the mod here from the development side of things.. I also would recommend the editor, lots of easy changes without havingto do the complicated stuff..
