also note the range in the stats at the bottom - 2000m smile.gif

Now THAT is sweet. Does the "red" colored treads mean that the treads are off, or does it just mean that the engine is destroyed? I don't see any graphical representation of an engine there...so to show a blown engine maybe both tracks are turned red?
  2. Well, just FYI, the campaign games can be fought against the AI. You're not required to play against other human opponents at all, if you don't want to. Any campaign, while you do have to be online, can be fought against the AI, with you playing as either Axis or Allies.

I was just about to buy this game. So let me get this straight, In order to play all the singleplayer campaigns, I need to be online? I cannot order the game, have it mailed to me, and just play the thing without being on the internet?

That's correct. You can play single player while not online, but if you want to play the campaign game(s) you must be connected to the internet. All of the information is stored on their server, not on your local drive.

You can play single player missions offline, just not the campaign. It's important to make that distinction, I think.

  4. I would like to see blood over the wounded area. If hits on armor are modeled with a hole in the affected area, maybe someone can mod this and get a blood patch in?

I'm assuming that, because it's possible for a soldier to take a hit and live, there must be different areas that CAN be hit, right? I mean, a soldier can be hit in leg or arm and survive, but a headshot is a killshot. So, somehow it must be reflected in the code..

    Where is our demo????

I am starting to smell something funny here. Maybe they realize that this game isnt all they thought it would be???

Yes, that MUST be it. They're not busy doing translations from russian to english or anything.

  6. Greetings, folks! I've been browsing the thread about tank skins, and have a quick question for you fans of armor..

Is there any website or book that has lots of pictures of damaged/destroyed armor pieces? Call it morbid curiousity if you wish, but I'm a big fan of seeing the "after" pics of tanks after a battle. We can sit and look at tanks in pristine condition all we want, but the fact is, no tank ever came out of combat looking like it did at the loading docks.

I've tried to find books about WW2 armor, but none are totally devoted to what I'm looking for. Well, not that I've found anyway.

Anyone have info about this topic? Thanks!

  7. That's one way to do it, but I'd prefer to see the game promote TS or some of the other voice communication software out there. Perhaps go as far as putting a link to it on their CD/download files.

I have only used TS on RPGs, but the value of it would be immense in an RTS game like ToW.

  8. Yes, it's teh TCs job to spot enemy troops/fortifications. Additionally, how would a TC know if a house is occupied by enemy? Most enemy would hide if armor was rolling by. It's unfair and unrealistic to have your troops automatically spotted every time they enter a tanks LoS.

That said, I do remember reading a dev post that it will be possible to hide from tanks and other vehicles. I just hope that the veteran/elite tank crews have a bonus to their enemy detection value..

  9. I have come to the realization that credit must be given where it is earned. Contrary to popular opinion, all German soldiers weren't the Nazi monsters we've all been made to believe. Heck, most of the guys defending the Normandy beaches were kids or past their primes; they didn't want to be on those beaches anymore than our guys did.

The Wermacht was a very skilled group of soldiers. They were outgunned and WAY outnumbered, and still fought bravely. I can't really say I'm glad they fought that way, many US and allied servicemen died to their bullets, but as was stated above, the Wermacht was fighting for their country just the same as our guys were.

I wish I could go back in time and bring back several items off a battlefield...Wermacht weapons and clothing, maps, etc. I just think it would be so cool to have stuff from that time....now all I have to do is invent a time machine..
