Maybe you've missed the authoratative word on this. Moon has stated multiple times that, should Battlefront collapse, all of their games will be released unlocked. So, your copy of ToW will be able to be installed 500 times if you so choose.

Most companies that have the elicense stuff have a similar guarantee.

Sorry, but, I just don't buy that mess Moon put out about bad design for blah blah. To me not having the "popular" elements of game design within the design is just "bad game design". Not having entering urban houses/buildings, no 88's, no on board mortars is as bad as buying a Lamborgini or Mazaradi and the "designer" says, oh sorry, but, we didn't include "air conditioning". But, it's still a great car and goes just fast. lol Bad game design plain and simple.

Silver star for the most negative post of the day! If those things all lead you to call it "bad game design", then why bother reading/posting here? I hate FPS games; you don't see me critiquing them on their own boards.

that's the equivalent of 2 good beers, gone in a half hour on a good night of drinking. get some perspective, please. smile.gif

Methinks the most absurd posters complaining of the $8 aren't yet of legal age to partake in such pleasantries. :D

I can't see how anyone would be annoyed at this. It seems to me the best of both worlds...some protection for the hard working devs, and flexibility for the people paying hard earned cash to get it.

I agree. It's 100% better than the copy protection crap we, as gamers, have had to put up with for the past few years.

Only drawback I see is having to connect to the internet to activate a copy. This won't be like HL2, I hope, where you had to "log on" every time you wanted to play the game..

  5. Can someone more "in the know" please help me understand this? I've been reading all the topics around trying to figure out exactly how it works.

From what I can gather, each copy of ToW will be able to be installed on 2 different computers. Does an installation require internet activation or something? How will the elicense know which copy has been installed X number of times? Will preorders have access to an additional CDkey (or whatever they need to install) due to the download + the DVD versions?

If I want to install it on my 2 desktops and a laptop, can I do that, as long as only 1 computer is playing the game at a time?

Don't get me wrong; anything has to be better than the old copy protection crap so many games have nowadays. I am just trying to figure out exactly how the elicense stuff will work.

The community would love a 1-stop-shop for all things BF MP. It seems the BF fanbase will just keep growing and growing with more releases.

I couldn't agree more. I would love for something like this to happen, but I'm not sure the older games could handle direct connect head-to-head battles. But certainly it is something that I would love to see in the future!
  7. Moon, I play Down In Flames occasionally, and the lobby in that game is nice. Plain, easy to use, and with the built in chat features it's easy to see who's online and find an opponent, if you wish.

Any reason why ToW won't have that type of lobby?

  8. I just can't play any other games anymore. I'm too psyched up about ToW. I know that April 19 will be here in just a matter of weeks, but I just can't wait! We need something, anything, to tide us over. I know Moon said there would be screens, news, etc coming in the next days, but those only work for a short while.

    Bring on the demo!

  9. I'll defer to one of the more knowledgeable people around here for your answer, but it looks to me like your video isn't a vid card at all, but rather your motherboard is outputting to the monitor. If I'm correct, that basically that means you don't currently have the ability to run the graphics for this game.

I have to ask, do you play other games, and if so, what are they? How old, etc?

    Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone could provide some advice as to how I could determine what video/graphics card I have,

    Thanks.

Hi, assuming you are using a Windows based PC, go to your Start menu. Start->Run, and a pop up box will appear. Type 'dxdiag' (but don't type the ' marks). Another pop up will appear, with tabs across the top of the box. Click on the one marked "display". That should tell you what you are looking for.
  11. I agree, and I don't often play MP in games like this. I just don't feel like I can keep pace with a bunch of folks in RTS games. I am hoping that playing with you gents will be different than the crowd I ran into with CoH.

My old hands just can't click that fast anymore. :(

If you wantt o encourage proper 4v4 games, and I truly believe those will be the most fun, then a proper lobby is nearly mandatory. With people from all different areas (continents!) trying to communicate, direct IP just won't cut it.

  12. A map editor for the community would be a wondrous thing. I would hope it would come along in the 2nd patch or so. Typically the first patch addresses gamebreaking bugs or exploits that the community finds after slipping by the beta testers.

I, for one, would love to see a map editor to go with ToW. Not because I love to create maps, but because it extends the life of this type of game SO much. And because I have a feeling that many of you would create fantastic scenarios and maps and upload them for the members of the community to enjoy. :D

  13. They've only been taking orders a day or 2! Give them some time to chart the progress! Obviously, sales will be great the first couple of days while your forum regulars are ordering the game, but the true test comes in the next couple weeks. Are the advertising campaigns effective? Did people read the previews at the various online gaming sites? Can you pull gamers away from similar titles?

Those are the big questions. Succeeding in the eyes of a forum where loyal fans of the title hang out (like this one!) is a given. Widespread success is another matter.
