  1. This is not a machine exclusively for gaming. It's a box that my wife and I share at home. Granted, it's used more for gaming than other applications, but it's still got to do other stuff for her that she does through her work.

I've got to be honest; I'm thinking Intel for the processor, and the more I look into it, the more I think SLI is something I'd never use. This will allow me to save some money on the mobo and the power supply. If I go with a Seagate, will 500w be sufficient? I am thinking of adding another internal HD, and want to have enough juice for it. Got DVD and CD-RW drives, ZIP, floppy, video card, sound card, and other stuff in the mobo. I would like this PSU to be usable in 18 months or so when I upgrade again.

  2. Minimum system requirements are

Windows 2000/XP; DirectX 9.0с; 2,6 GHz processor; video card similar to nVidia GF 4600 or ATI Radeon 9600; 512 RAM.

    Recommended:

Windows 2000/XP; DirectX 9.0с; 3,4 GHz processor; video card similar to nVidia GF 6800 or ATI Radeon X800 with 256 Mb RAM; 1 Gb RAM.

That's what I found in a thread titled "system" when I did a search for "requirements". It's also the reason I'm upgrading my PC. :(
  3. I appreciate the info guys. I figured some of you would know alot better than I what these components need to be maximized. Thanks ;)

I've never done any overclocking, and it's just not something that I have the time to devote to, especially after reading Redwolfs last post. I know some people are able to overclock varying aspects of their computers with great results, but I've also heard horror stories, as well. Not really something I'm willing to risk, not at this point anyway.

  4. Hi all, I'm here looking for a bit of help on upgrading my rig. Need to upgrade my CPU, GPU, mobo and RAM (and, unfortunately, my power supply).

I'm like most gamers, on a budget. Between my kid and my wife, I've been able to squeeze 6-800 USDollars for this upgrade. I've been eyeying the new Core2duo Intel processors.

So, I've found this so far:

    GeForce 7900GS - $200

    Core2duo E6400 - $222

    Gigabyte GA-965P mobo - $119

    Kingwin ABT 600w PS - $101

    Now I need RAM recommendations.

This upgrade is for all games, but ToW is what really prompted me to do it. My current technology is 2+ years old, and didn't meet the minimum specs.

What do you think of the options so far, and can you suggest a good RAM? Is DDR2 really better than DDR? I've got 1GB of DDR400 in this box.

Thanks for any advice, and suggestions welcome.

  5. Fan-freaking-tastic!

Is that a 2nd entrance hole on the front of the tank?

Quick question: would the 'miss' shells really blacken the terrain around the tank like in the pics? I mean, I understand they would kick up a certain amount of dirt when they hit the ground, but would they explode on impact with dirt like that? I guess HE rounds would, but what about AP? Pretty sure Sabot rounds don't explode at all.

  6. I really hope the demo has SOME armor. I think the realistic damage modeling on the armor pieces is one of the things I'm looking most forward to.

Pleased to hear that the play balance has been shifted, but please put a tank or 2 in the demo!

  7. Noticed lately that the option to "filter my pilots" on the leaderboard is gone! Is it because I'm using a Mozilla browser? I could have sworn that option was there a few months back.

I still see the "filter by" text but no check-box to mark. Is it just me?

  8. Rune, thanks for the info. Please don't misunderstand, I don't think the folks who frequent this forum are the ones you should be worried about. We all (or at least most of us) have been following this game for a while, and through the limited amount of info we receive, understand that these things take time. Changing voiceovers, translations, and adding features/code is something that I'd venture to say the majority of members here understand takes time.

My point is, that by advertising to the general public that ToW is available for purchase is not going to help anybody. Granted, you had to book those ads "months in advance", I understand that. This game had been in Battlefronts lap for, what, 2 months when you booked the ads? That seems like an awfully optimistic goal.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I appreciate all the work that's going into this game. I'm one of the guys who is upgrading his PC just for this game. Been looking forward to it for a long time, and I know that Battlefront will support it well after it is released.

Anyway, continue testing, brave soldier. Keep up the good work, and do try to keep us in the loop when possible. Most of us just need a nugget here and a tidbit there to feel appeased. That's not asking too much, is it? ;)

  9. I will say this; with all the ads out there, each day they don't get a working demo out is only alienating potential customers. If I wasn't eagerly awaiting this game, and saw an advertisement pop up about it being available...only to find out there's not even a DEMO I can try, I'd be pretty POd..

Yes! The Bears all the way, baby! Grossman will do fine in Miami, all the pressure will be on Indy, anyway.

Carry on with ToW discussion....but I'm pumped about the Superbowl!

  11. Is it just me or does the server seem to be running slow lately? Taking me longer to connect, for my pilots to show up, for the AARs to show up, etc.

Anyone else experiencing this, or is it my connection?

  12. Yes, because if you dogfight other human opponents, it's not fair to only spend 100xp and be able to consistently score a kill (as opposed to just shooting down) their hard-earned pilots.

If Target pilot were permanent, it would be on a sliding scale like all the other permanent skills. So, the more skills you have, the more expensive it would be.

  13. Maybe, but it still would be nice to have an accurate knowledge of exactly how many draws he's going to have in any given turn.

I've gone against the AI in a 1v1 dogfight before, and his wingie had draw extra card x4, and I watched that guy draw 6+ cards when he gets attacked/is attacking.

It happens alot, or seems to, I just kind of accept it as fact now and ignore it.

I've read the other post and people say don't forget to account for evasive, aggressive, leader advice, etc. but all of those take place instantaneously. The extra cards don't happen until I play an IMS or OOS card, and then the AI pauses, draws a card, and then makes his play.
