  1. Multiplayer, I had a popup, my opponent went ahead with Z-plan. I assumed this was the Graff Zepplin as a carrier, but when I chose that against the AI, there was no popup. Is that what it is? I don't really think that the Graff was the Z-plan. p.s. It would be really cool if the Germans could choose a REAL z-plan, with the battleships... Also, creating Breast? there is already a port there, what is the pay back for the 100?
  2. These are some things that have happened that make me wonder if a patch is needed. Love the game, though. I took every city in France and there were NO french alive in France, yet France did not surrender. I know the formula, but really, shouldn't this be impossible? I sailed my british fleet to PROTECT Norway from German Invasion. There was a battle with British and Germans north of Denmark. After the turn, Norway joined Germany because I was in the Norway-German convoy lane? I've got Chinese units in China that can't move into a city right next to them for months... Was the terrain really this harsh? All of Japan was taken, every tile. The Japanese continue to fight from Korea? Do you think that would have happened? My french units cannot be disbanded, is this intentional? Will I be able to disband Italians when the "end is near"? I struggled and struggled to finally take a Chinese city, then when I did the Army reappeared at full strength? Pretty demoralizing. Historical? I could see a part strength army, or a corps. This would mean that nobody died.
  3. Thank you for your responses. I never saw the number U8, that helps. If I were making the game, France and Italy would have different rules, but at least now I understand. I guess that is what happend in Russia as well. I do take exception to the fact that the engine can't allow for more majors. Don't take this as sour grapes, I really do like the game, but since I payed full price for the game, I should not get a step backwards in something like this. The engine should have been tweaked. I bought Crysis and Far Cry 2 for less than I paid for this, and look at the engines those games have. Of course I don't expect crysis graphics, but adding a couple major powers doesn't seem like too much to ask.
  4. First of all, great game. The AI is not too bright, but hopefully I can find a couple humans. After most of one game, I have some questions: 1. I took Paris in March of 1940. France did not surrender until August! Note that I op moved all my stuff out when Paris fell, then, thinking it would surrender, I waited while doing other things. I finally came back and took all but one city and one fortress before it fell. You got to be kidding, France should be the LAST country to hold out like that. 2. I took moscow, stalingrad and I forget what else that became russian capital. The last was Novosiberk (not sure spelling, it's snowing). Nov. has a german flag now, but several turns later, still no surreder. So what is the deal with surrenders in this game? 3. Transports out run Destroyers? Why would that be? I just chased a transport clean across the Pacific with a DD and it got away. If memory serves, DD's are much quicker. 4. Wondering why France is British Minor and Italy is German Minor. This causes (among other things): a. British have too much money in early game, they should be strapped at that time. b. Italians get german tech advances. c. Italians can be attached to german HQ's. d. Since b and c are true, Italians ARE germans! (only thing is if Rome falls they gone) When my germans ran out of buildable units, I just started pumping out tigers and advanced subs from italy. That's just wrong. Again, great game, but I think some tweaking is in order. I also love the strategic event choices
  5. Looks great. Third Reich was my first love, still the best wargame ever. Russian Campaign is a close second. Now if you can only change the squares to hexes..
  6. Ok, so it's squares, I can live with that. I will get it and enjoy it either way. Hadn't known there was a "war", but I have no reason to further it, so squares are cool with me. I did look at the pics, but I was unable to find any with lines. Looking at the mine in the pic. from your link, I decided it has to be squares. So thanx.

  8. I'm up in the air about PDE. It seems to me that all you get are some new scenarios? No new units? I see you can make choices, but won't everyone figure out which is the best pretty quick, making it a moot point? $25.00 seems like a lot to pay to just get some new scenarios. Curious what some of you that got it think.
  9. I am curious if this game will go back to hexes like SC-1. I think that squares are vastly inferior (for example you can go much further directly east west or north south than something in between. Not trying to start a fight, as I know, for some reason, many people like squares, but I'm just wondering which way this one will go. Thanx.
  10. Hello. I love this scenario, but in 2 games, when moscow falls, stalingrad has failed to become capitol and the russians can't place units. Is this a game breaker, or has someone figured out how to fix it? I THINK I have the latest version. Any help apprecitated, I would hate to lose my games. thanx dave
  11. Is it just me, or do AA guns seem almost useless? I build these things and 1/2 the time they don't even get a hit. Worse, they fire instead of my intercepting air, so it actually hurts me! I think AA guns should fire every time that air attacks in their range, not just once. Then let the intercepting air hit as well. Also, they should have some kind of defense against land units. During the war, the German 88's were used as air defense, anti tank, and anti personnel! Another thing, I think that Tac level 3 air totally dominates the battlefield eating tanks for breakfast. My Germans just took an entrenched Leningrad army out with only tac air, allowing the Finnish to just walk in. This seems very unrealistic. Curious what you guys think?

  14. Lets say I get a reasearch hit in Industrial Tech in WAW. Does this effect only my home country cities, or any city that I control across the map? thanx
  15. Thank you. I read the PDF and lots of things I have found out are not mentioned, like subs moving a couple hexes after avoiding contact and tanks getting 2 shots. I was hoping some of these things would be addressed. Example. I noticed my french tank only got one shot... I'm sure I will survive. dave
  16. I just got the hard copy of WOW in the mail. I have been playing the downloaded copy. I only received a cd, no rulebook. I can't find any rules on the cd at all. Don't tell me that there are no rules for this game?!?!? Should I have received a rulebook? If so, how can I get one? Do I have to install the cd even though I have the download version installed to see rules? There are many questions I have about the game, I could really use some rules!!! thanx

  19. So I start the overlord campaign against the AI. First turn my allies hit the french beaches and the russians make a few attacks. I move one cruiser next to Denmark. End turn. Sweden and Turkey join axis. gotta love it.
  20. Worst and useless: Rockets. Should be changed to artillery with a range of 2 that never changes. Research could just up the attack factors. I build an Engineer early and with several years of building, he can turn Germany and Italy into one big fortress! So, I would not say they useless, at least for the axis!
  21. Is it just me, or are rockets useless? Does anyone out there actually sink the research into them to make them useful? In my opinion, they are too weak, slow, and require too many advances to be useful. The first thing I do each game, is reclaim my rocket research! I also sell back the Siberians the turn they arrive. I would offer this fix: Turn rockets into artillery and give them a starting range of 2 that never changes. Research advances would increase their attack abilities. Artillery was very important in WWII, and would be alot of fun. I remember Panzer General, the best wargame for the PC ever, and artillery was a big part of that game!
  22. I was thinking FOW would be removed. But if, as Bromley says, just a unit here or there (but never a large number), I would agree it could be fun. As far as the old informantion, I think it would be better to have up to date info, but VERY limited. Maybe one unit for each level?
  23. One thing you don't mention is that when Egypt and Gibralter fall, the axis does not have to use any forces in the Med. at all. Plus you have the Italian and Spanish fleets available to counter D-Day. Unless the Russians are doing really well, I would think this means game over. Scook, to abandon Egypt like that means the axis has alot more time do other nasty things. I would still fight in Egypt just to "play the clock". What about my idea of allowing USA diplomacy from day one?
