CMBB made me laugh as my Russians owned each other in the dark with burp guns. God, that was funny.
Haven't noticed any blue on blue with small arms.

"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go."
-
You got it, use it. What are you saving it for?
It's a big advantage that US infantry have and I exploit it ruthlessly. The Syrians get RPGs, which are sometimes better. AT4s are pretty sad. The extra Javelin that Stykers carry makes me like them a lot more than I would otherwise.
Leaving Javelins on overwatch has saved me a lot of trouble.

After happily blowing up many of my clanmates, many of them point out that IEDs can sometimes be detected before they are detonated. I was wondering if this could be represented in the game.
There's a game balance issue, too, in that it has no real counter. I get that they suck in real life, but is there really no way to see them? I missed out on the Iraq war so I've never had to look for mines.
I don't want anything that violates OPSEC, but any open source or informed speculation would be nice.

Yeah, the workarounds for the 8800 work on my 7800. And whenever you guys have a suggestion to help FPS, it helps me.

I am irritated when they won't leave or enter a building. Sometimes soldiers just will not do it, no matter what order I give them. Then suddenly they will. This happens on some maps more than others. I don't understand why.
-
Keep in mind most structures are tougher than that. Then remember that the bullet actually has to hit the target, and most of a building is empty space.
If they are modelling bullet paths, perhaps area fire should spray more so that the bullets don't keep going through the same hole over and over.
I think that's what is happening, since area fire seems to go straight from the muzzle towards the center of the target building. I sometimes drive around a bit to change the angle. I can't quite tell if this helps. Thoughts?

I liked it. I like TCP/IP real time more. It would not bother me if it came back, though.Originally posted by aka_tom_w:No one here has come right out and said it, so I will, for the time being one much loved feature of the CMx1 was TCP/IP WEGO.
TCP/IP WEGO is missing from CMSF you can still play via hotseat or via PBEM or against the computer AI and it IS WEGO.
BUT there no network live action TCP/IP WEGO and by now I am sure (the good folks at BFC) KNOW ALL ABOUT IT.

Hmm, most misleading thread title ever.

In fact thats the reason you get two, but if both are in use and something bad happens, simply email elicense@battlefront.com, explain EXACTLY what has happened and why you can no longer access the install on your old computer/drive and if you can also include the code itself or at least the name the order was placed under and the approximate date that you placed your order and we can work with you to get the matter resolved in a fair manner.

CMSF is strange because the pace is slow but the combat itself is fast and decisive. Bad decisions are punished so fast that you can't change your mind. It may take a minute to move up a road but it only takes a second for a RPG to kill your Stryker.
It's all about being careful and deliberate. Even in RT mode it's NOT a click- fest RTS. You are rewarded for making good decisions rather than quick ones.
I blow the hell out of anything that looks like a good place for the enemy to be.
-
Nah, I've had a bunch of Strykers drive over one, then it finally goes off. Been that way since release.

I did the same thing on Best/Best and got 5 FPS.
I tried loading another scenario and alt- tabbing to no avail.
Balanced/Balanced was 24 FPS.
Win XP Pro
Pentium 830d
2 gigs RAM
2 7800 GTX SLI
As long as I stay on BALANCED settings and tweak the settings in the NVIDIA control panel I'm fine. I'm not desperate for BEST settings, but I guess they'd be nice to have.
NVIDA 163.67 beta driver

Nice. I'm doing the Balanced/Balanced card tweak and this helped. I gained about 5 FPS, lost FRAPS lag (previously it caused stutter), and the in- game text is no longer blurry. The game looks crisper. Definate improvement. Game is really looking good.

We have had tanks destroyed- you just don't hear about it. Oddly, the bad guys aren't using tandem warheads much.

As far as designing missions, it is good to remember that the Syrians have a limited supply of the really good equipment. That could change, of course, if they thought that invasion was imminent and the Russians cooperated.
-
If you want a game that's polished enough to play intuitively you should wait. There's still lots of little compromises to make right now.
I'm enjoying it but it was a long road.

Here's RL Apache
30mm and Hellfire.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about the civvie thing. That's getting turned off unless my opponent wants it.
-
The Syrian mech. infantry platoon (yes, all of them) was wiped out by one missile. I got lucky, as I was out of everything but small arms and .50 cal. The Syrians surrendered despite having 1 tank left.

There are currently too many immersion- breaking bugs that ruin the feel of the game. I expect that they'll be fixed eventually. Right now new players get frustrated by things that clearly shouldn't be happening, like getting shot through solid objects or wierd LOS issues where an enemy is hidden when he should clearly be visible. Things like not being able to see enemy infantry on a roof when looking down on them from a higher building. Or balconies that can't be shot at because LOS to the center of the building is blocked.Originally posted by panzermartin:CMSF on the other hand is totally unpredictable. ..
I've seen stock maps with painfully detailed ditches that are just eye candy since they are so fine crafted that are actually non existent for the LOS/LOF grid...It happens way too often to the point I dont trust the visual representation of the game anymore. And thats way too bad for a 1:1 simulation. 1.03 seems better but further fine tuning is needed imo.
This is normal bugginess, though. The technical bugginess is being vanquished. I'm playing the game flawlessly now thanks to the patches and forum. I expect the rest will come in time.

That's fine for single player. You can't play a single player wrong. You can limit yourself as much or as little as you want.Originally posted by Huntarr:There is a solution to the Dust being seen problem. Stop using "God's Eye". Play only from the "1" camera setting and you will only see dust when it is appropriate. For those that use the "God's Eye" then I don't have a problem with the dust as is.
For multiplayer, I'm not going to complain about the other guy doing what the game allows him to do. It's pointless to try, I can't make other people do anything over the internet, and it's an exploit.
-
It's a multiplayer issue. I don't expect my opponents to miss obvious clues that the game provides. It's a bit too precise between the dust clouds and remote hearing.
Good players use every advantage they can. This stuff is an exploit, and it should be fixed.

I usually have the last MG team hitch a ride on the battallion FO UAZ.
It's not organic to the company, so it's not a very elegant solution.

I'm happy now. 1.03, the graphics workaround, and figuring out lag = win.
Is this game any good?

It still needs patching. I'd keep an eye on it and play something else in the meantime. It will be a great game, but I'm not gonna lie to you.
