There is no denying the lack of logical syntax in my previous post. When it comes to Boo, such things are to be expected, as I never seem to rise above my material when he comprises said material.Originally posted by Seanachai:stoat, your current signature makes you look like you failed your first two exams in English As a Second Language. Are we supposed to parse some sort of sense out of that verbal dump, or are you holding the original spokes-creature up to ridicule?
If it's the latter, then properly attribute the remark, or we'll have to assume you type out your signature lines in between vomiting on your own pants.
However, if you look again at my post, or any other I have ever made within the confines of this fine board, you will find that I in fact have no signature. Oh, Seanachai, the infallible, the ever-so-wise Bard. Before one waxes poetic perhaps one should remove the kayak paddle from the sphincter one deigns to store it in.

The 105mm howitzer M2 was the standard 105mm howiter during WWII. From 1942 on, the electric Warner brakes were removed from the carriage, and the M2A1 was born. This was the version that was mounted on the M7 and M7B1.
Maximum elevation for howiter on carriage: 64 degrees, 15 minutes
Maximum range: 12,205 yards (sorry, not in the mood for conversions)
Maximum elevation for M7 and M7B1: 35 degrees
The max range for these vehicles is still listed as 12,200 yards, though as you have pointed out, the physics of it simply don't compute. On some occasions, the Priests would be driven onto fashioned ramps to provide a greater angle of elevation, perhaps more akin to the later M37 that had a maximum elevation of 45 degrees while mounting the same howitzer.

Oh for Gawd's sake man show a little gumption.Originally posted by Joe Shaw:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Nidan1:
Turn re-sent, you horrid little man.
Do what I did ... just STOP PLAYING him.
Just remind yourself that trading turns with him, regardless of the outcome, is like ... well ... continuing to shake hands with someone who has a hideous skin disorder. YOUR skin will never clear up if you keep doing it ... shaking hands that is ... it probably won't clear up if you keep DOING IT either but that's another issue entirely.
And trust me, you won't hurt his feelings ... he's not really bright enough to figure it out. I've been telling him for months now that he OWES ME a turn ... so he keeps re-sending it ... I must have ten copies of the freaking thing.

Slightly off on the title, but I will agree that it is an interesting read and the only account of the battle that one can find in English.Originally posted by Rupert_2:The only book I know of(and also own)in English is "The battle of Budapest: 100 days in WW2" By Krisztian Ungvary & Ladislaus Lob(Translator)

A guy a couple of years older than I got tired of his neighbor's dogs coming onto his parents' property and chasing his mother inside, so he dropped one with a compound bow. Arrested, convicted, and I think he opted for military service in lieu of 1 year jail time. County cops are worthless for that kind of thing, and it takes animal control days to respond to a complaint, but they don't mind expediting the prosecution of one who takes care of such things on his own.

If you have that kind of delay, you either need to purchase TRPs to aid your fire, or fire on the first turn to avoid the delay.
Smaller caliber artillery such as 81mm mortar on up to full 105mm shells are quite useful on the attack, provided you can find a nice place to plunk a spotter. They can be used to drop a covering smokescreen, small amounts of shells can be used to eliminate gun positions or momentarily pin an enemy to allow your infantry to close, or large amounts can be used to disrupt infantry for a longer period of time and inflict some casualties. 81mm is best for the first two, while 105mm and up is better at inflicting serious casualties.

Light and medium bridges require abuttments of two height levels greater than the terrain they cross. Heavy bridges require abuttments four levels greater. However, if you only elevate the one gird immediately adjacent to each end of the bridge it won't work. Several grids around each end must be changed. Kind of like so:
Run the road up to the bridge and you'll get a level transition from bridge to road. Like so:

You're kidding me, right? The last Clemsons were completed in 1922. They were excellent destroyers in their time, which happened to be WWI. The British knew full well they were acquiring well worn ships, but they didn't intend for them to fight other surface units. They were to escort convoys, and free up newer British destroyers for fleet action. They were large DEs.Originally posted by von Lucke:Seems the Clemson class DD's had quite a history:
The Mason was torpedoed on 18 Oct 41, killing one LT John Parker --- giving him the regrettable honor of being the first American killed in action while serving with the RN.
The Reuben James was the first USN vessel sunk by Germany, 31 Oct 41.
The Herndon was given to the Brits (who re-christened her the Churchill), who then gave her to the Russkis (re-named the Delatelnyi) --- sunk 16 Jan 45.
The Stewart was captured by the Japanese and served under their flag, before being recaptured by the Yanks --- then sunk as a target 23 May 46.
For the most part, those of the class that actually made it up to 1941 served to the end of the war --- and were promptly scrapped.
Four Clemson class ships sunk makes for "quite a history?" Aside from being an entirely inadequate summary of losses for the class, it also seems to be an entirely uninformed one as well. 273 Wickes/Clemsons were built, 50 were transfered to the RN. of the 223 remaining in USN service, 12 were sunk. That happens to be the lowest percentage of losses by class of any destroyers that served in the USN during WWII.

That's the only difference between them. Otherwise they have the same number of tubes, same ammo loadout, etc. Radio is faster and costs more to purchase.Originally posted by Other Means:Wire and radio FO's have different response times? That's the first I've heard of that.
