The complete destruction of Russia's military reputation probably figures in somewhere. The entire Russian mid and higher echelon has spent the their entire careers being feared and respected, now they are just despised as incompetent child murderers. They will never get to go on vacation outside of Russia again either.

They are probably pushing them way forward in attempt to limit the damage drones and or signals intercepts are doing. Forward is not a safe place around the UKR army. And the Russians are really stung out in lots of places. The pincers around Kyiv have at most one and a half safe sides. There is a lot o forward out there .

My amateur map reading implies this brings them VERY close to cutting off everything south of this. It would bring what looks like the only major road junction leading south towards Kyiv well into artillery range among other things. The Ukrainians might really manage to pinch it off

A straight up shooting war of this intensity is inevitably going to lead to shut off of the gas pipelines. There just needs to be an absolutely blank check effort to deal with it as best it can be dealt with. It will be one heck of a band aid pull. But once it is done it is done, and the Russian economy will just cease to exist. As with everything else related to this war Putin's timing is truly awful. In January there might have been REAL problems with a pipeline shut down. It is almost April now. A hard cut off while be extremely unpleasant, but nobody is going to freeze to death.

Sad story of course, but they describe well under a hundred mourners. Compare it to the Ukrainian funerals with what must be several thousand people lining the road.

Just to reiterate, a maximum effort to tip Belarus into open revolt is the easiest, cleanest way to win this war. The Russian logistics just evaporate.

And they need to shoot down that plane. Lukashenko has a bill to pay, I would hate to see him skip town and miss his date with a lamp post.

Ukrainians have been VERY disciplined so far about treating POWs well. That is only going to get more difficult to maintain as the entire Russian strategy becomes being as barbaric as possible.

They can't count it fast enough. 12 pieces of heavy artillery, just for starters. You have to lose 500 men to lose this much equipment don't you? Either from actual casualties or desertion?

I would want to pretty solid proof that was not taken weeks ago. Also I do not recall a single Russian tank in winter camouflage.

The thing that doesn't get enough press is how little faith we had in the Ukrainian Government before the war. It was just assumed that it was completely undermined by Russian operatives. This is now 100% proven not to be the case. The difference this makes is hard to overstate. If we had had this much faith in the Ukrainian Government six weeks ago we would have done a LOT of things differently.

What are the odds the Russians have the sense or ability to get out before that pocket closes? Also should NASA be releasing this stuff? It might be the clearest info the Russians have. Triple genius would be too manipulate it right when they come to depend on it.
