  1. Another Hot Tip for WeGo:

Got a risky move to make? And concerned that awful things might happen to that unit during the playback when you have no control over the outcome for a whole minute?

Then it might be helpful to give the unit a 30 PAUSE before giving it other orders. This way you will get a better chance intervening at a critical moment during the following turn.

  2. Can anyone tell me if the 'Friendly Condition' percentage parameter (those units not panicked, wounded, tired etc.) is calculated as a percentage of the troops remaining at the end of the battle or whether it is a percentage of the total number of units at the start of the battle?

It seems to me that I often achieve this 'Friendly Condition' when all other objectives have been failed.

    The reason could be...

If it is a percentage of the total number of troops then (because the parameter doesn't include casualties) the more casualties you suffer the more likely you are to achieve this objective!

    Can anyone verify this?

  3. A bright flash of light, followed almost instantaneously by a deafening cracking sound! There was a big storm overhead. I then heard a crackle coming from the direction of my iMac, and I turned to see blue arcs of electricity crawl over the display!

Oh no - it's all over I thought - burnt out chips, scrambled hard drive - there goes everything.

Well - I guess I got lucky. Apart from the OS needing to repair itself, all seems okay.

    Phew.

  4. I just found out that you can click on these "in command" status icons, and you will be moved to the commanding HQ. Very useful if you want to know who is commanding your squad/unit at the moment.

Almost, but not entirely accurate. Clicking the status icon will take you to the HQ immediately above it in the C2 chain. If this HQ is wiped out then clicking the 'in command' icon will not take you to the new HQ - instead it will still take you to the dead HQ, despite a higher HQ now being in charge.

  5. I am running an iMac with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro card and I am having enough problems for me to have to go back to version 1.0.1. I do think that I am in the minority though - most Mac players only experience minor issues, such as: flickering floating icons, darkened shadows, the occasional crash.

Here you can compare what I see see:

    Version 1.0.1

but here is the 1.10 CW version:

But as I say, I think that it is only myself and a few others experiencing this issue.

  6. ...and no, I'm not talking about tomorrow's 4:15 from Aintree!

    So...

    NUMBER 1.

Have you just lost your HQ tank? Did the crew manage to get out okay?

Well, once they recover enough to let you give them orders try and get them out of harm's way and quickly order them into a halftrack (or other radio-equipped vehicle). They will soon be back in contact with the rest of their platoon/squadron, and the remaining tanks will be far less brittle.

  7. Thanks to everyone. I have a much clearer idea of purchasing now.... and Ian, a surprising and very helpful addition to the thread. I suspected that the 'combined arms' route was the way to go, but I just wasn't too sure considering the size of the battle.

I also like getting a good balance of forces, but at the same time I don't want to end up purchasing in a ridiculously un-historical manner.

So, I enter the battle with a little more confidence that the initial purchasing won't necessarily result in my inevitable defeat.
