  1. SC is more pseudo-historical, that you can finish within a reasonable amount of time -it's fun to play although unit scales, mechanics, economy, manpower, etc. is very simplified.

Versus WIF, which takes into account historical representation of warfare on a grand strategical scale, hard-core grognard style, which you can't finish in one sitting, is more tailored to patient grognard players.

SC is still a beer and pretzel type of game getting better with more features, eye candy, and variety with what you can do with the editor. I would still support both types of game although war in the pacific and war in russia is too tedious for me for sure.

  2. Event-

July 1941 -Should Japan attack Pearl Harbor and spark the entry of the US in WWII?

No - Japan entry to the war is delayed by a full two years until and it consolidates its gains in China. Japan receives three infantry corps, one tank group, one artillery group and an HQ to reflect the deflection of naval resources from the attack. US participation into WWII is delayed by a full year.

Yes-Japan gains two carrier groups, one battleship group and the US pacific fleet is decimated (Losing 4 battleship groups, two cruiser groups, two destroyer groups).

  3. I think not- originally there was a plan to update a global version to WAW from SC2 version. Like Hubert said, the advantages of a global version in PDE makes more sense. Although, I am still for introducing a basic economic model in the series, such as metals, oil, coal, etc. They were very important in WWII and as such should be reflected. This is what we should be asking for. Also the accurate placing of these resources on the map also.

  4. or what you can do is take out UK mainland and cairo by 41 and then even if you start slow in the USSR -you can focus on the east and then just use your bombers and navy in the west to spot any ampibs attempts by the US.

Operate half of your forces on turn one near the west and declare war on benelux by rd 2. If you are lucky, France can fall by November 39 or worst by March 40. Experiment with set-up of forces what works for you. Italian forces are good for garrison duties also.

  5. I think when they did the global SC2 version the map scale was not really appropriate for the units mobility -air units range should be reduced to 3, bombers to 5, mobility of land units reduced by one. Just having UK's coast so close (maybe accurate for scale) makes for real funny amphib operations for the axis and allies alike. Maybe coastal distance increased by one for play balance issues. Ships and transports range should also be reduced - it's like they are flying on hydrofoils at this stage. But overall, the original sc2 global was a very welcome addition and Sami's conversion to waw is phenomenal.

One also has to think about all the clutter on the map with WAW with the units - hopefully, we can get a larger global map that is more apportioned to units and scale.

  6. nope - you must get this going on late 40 and early 41 - just make sure you have enough ground forces in the east after you amphib UK as USSR readiness jumps when you take the UK islands- you can try this strategy on lower difficulty levels and then bring it up.

The key is to destroy one unit at a time -UK can't replace it's forces easily. Make sure your navy is also on standby to screen as needed.

by '44 it's too late to overcome.

  7. control of the skies is crucial against the ai in the west - invest in long range and air tech and you will have an easier time.

Whenever he places any air units, you would be able to see it and destroy it. Also you need this to get a sealion done (to destroy his bomber and fighter unit or else he can spot your ampibs and then his navy is all over you). You can be slow in Russia after diverting for sealion but easily shift forces east after you are done.
