How about being able to commandeer enemy weapons. While many abandoned weapons would have been destoyed either by the enemy fire that forced the crew to leave/die, or been delibarately put out of action by retreating crews, not all of them would be u/s. I dont mean tanks and things, just the odd MG or AT gun.

I had this problem and found a sort of fix. If you load the game you want to play, load it, alt-tab out, load a different CM game (any, it didn't seem to matter) then exit it straight away. Go back to the game you are trying to play and it works. Even odder, though - I finally got around to installing MSWorks, and after installing this all my black screen problems seem to have vanished. Go figure? :confused:

I thought frontline combat correspondants were given helmets too? Holding a camera or a notebook doesn't make you shrapnel-proof!

or try Combat Mission HQ - there's a lot of mod related stuff there too. Or you could just wait for junk2drive to notice this thread! A week ago I had never used a mod either, but junk has been most helpful in setting me off down the road to modsluttery.

you mean scenarios and suchlike? try the scenario depot .

I DL'd my first mod just 4 or 5 days ago, now I have CMMOS, pretty much all the winter mods for all 3 games, most of the main vehicle mods for BO, some for BB & AK, new terrain for BO and the WaffleGrenadiers are but a distant memory, and the German flags have been restored to the historical ones. I'm hooked man!

I have downloaded GEM_WITHEWASHED_M4S_CMMOS4 but cannot get the ruleset to install. The readme says there ought to be an auto installer in there to get the rulset into CMMOS (I am using 4.03), but I can't see it in any of the folders I downloaded. Nor can I find a fix for this in any of the documentaion, either in the GEM folder or at CMHQ. HELP! Thanks in advance

That's the one abbreviation I must have not put into the search engine! D'oh. I don't think I will be sending unsolicited email looking for a mod though.... Still, I can always hope that the author is identified eventually, huh? Thanks (again! ) for the link though.

I searched, all I found was a summer one with a flag draped over it. No matter - I'm sure I d/l'd enough to keep me going for now!

OK, I'm d/l-ing winter mods like crazy now! lol next thing you know I will be making requests...like maybe a winter Panzer38T cuz I can't find one at any of the CM sites I've tried!

Yep. Now as soon as I figure out what the exact function of the rulesets is, I'm sorted! (hint hint) As I understand it mods are grouped together under rulesets, so choosing a ruleset will put all associated mods into the scenario. Am I even close here? lol

lol junk2drive to the rescue again! I only ask because I downloaded MadDog 1 & 2 from cmhq and the instruction was to download and copy to bmp file. the winter uniforms only appear when it snows but I dont have to mess around with a manager. Not being the most techie minded feller in the world I like to double check these things at the risk of appearing to be a touch dim. Think I might be getting the hang of it now though, but thanks again for all your help!

im new to this modding thingy - do i just copy them to my bmp folder or do i need a mod manager to use them properly?

You have a very wise friend! lol I'm quite new to all things CM as well, there are some way helpful people on this forum. Don't think you should need any of the patches, but double check the downloads section at the top of this page to confirm that. Cheers.

Thanks for the help - started pulling loads of stuff for all 3 games now. I know this is the AK forum, but the question was related to the last post. Seemed a bit stupid to start a new thread in another forum when the question was technically "on topic". I am under no illusion that BO will never look like its succesors, just I'm having trouble finding flags, icons etc to undo all the damage done to the game by German censorship laws! Much appreciated though, The Mod Files and cmmods.com are in the favourites list now!

um...actually it seems to work fine now.

when I try to get into www.cmmods.com, the little blue bar at the bottom fills up about halfway then freezes! using a PC, with windows ME, 56k dial up connection. any ideas? if you need more info let me know, I'm still quite new to all this stuff.

got 'em coming in now - the site you gave me a link for has nothing for correcting the historical errors in CMBO though. As getting realistic uniforms etc is the first priority before doing anything to my vehicles, can you suggest anywhere that I can find this?
