  1. Solops, I'm not a part of the PBEM-league and don't play MP alot either I do it, but not a lot. I bought this game almost immediately after it became available and I am still playing it. there's really a lot of things you can do with the editor and the SC2 editor will have even more options. of course there are up's and down's, there were times I didn't play SC for a long time just to get addicted again later. Really, this game is worth buying!!!
  2. Another excellent idea Edwin! I don't know who, but someone suggested that countries who were leaning allied, should be colored green on the map. The more they lean towards the allies the greener it get's. This would work the same for the axis-leaning countries but I forgot the colour (proobably grey or black or sth) Hubert replied to this post saying he liked the idea very much. I'm also very excited about the historical anekdotes, but I doubt it will be in the game. And yes, Jersey John would be perfect for this .
  3. Actually, they don't sell bagels in Europe . (exception:UK) Not any good ones any way.
  4. JJ, of course the main reason was it was just too damn cold and harsh to invade at that time, but because they had to make a new plan to invade also made it more appealing to purspone(is this correct?)the invasion. When the plane crashed, weather wasn't as bad as it would get later on, the drawing of a new plan wouldn't have slowed them down much but weather was beginning to lool really ugly too,so they waited. At least, that's how I remember it. Could be wrong of course, my memory's getting a little vague on the pre-war part, I'll brush it up a little tomorrow(aaaaah, sweet sunday ) Friendly Fire, keep giving me those tips and I might just win my PBEM-game I just started .
  5. Excellent! This way there can be some nasty surprises for the axis player post-soviet-'defeat'. Hubert, pleeeeaaase consider this, at least as an option.
  6. I'm afraid not. there have been requests to implement this option into SC2 but so far nothing has been promised about this(it's not like it's a top-prioroty so we haven't really pushed it trough). let's hope they insert this as an option,it can't be that hard( or is it? )
  7. And because a German airplane with the attack plans in it crashed in Belgium, thus alerting the Belgians of a possible german attack in the winter . We warned the Netherlands, so they were on their guard during the winter as well.
  8. Exactly, I wouldn't do it, but it should be possible. And the consequences should be as realistic as humanly(or virtually) possible. JJ,I don't agree that the USSR would have been lost by such a move, but just imagine what would have happened if the Germans hadn't treated the local population so cruel and if they also promised post-war independance to Bellorussia, the Baltic states, the states in the Caucasus, and all of the -stans in the east. Stalin was hated enough to make half of the country collaborate if they were offered a better choice. This is about the same as you described but not only used in Ukrania but all across the USSR. I believe such an action would have definitely killed Stalin's regime. The only problem with that is that when the USSR surrenders you will definitely surpass(or whatever) the maximum number of countries allowed by the engine.
  9. Very good ideas, indeed(in my eyes at least) Though I must agree with JJ on the fact that giving Malta and/or Vichy Algeria to Spain should be a very difficult, if not impossible Procedure. Don't forget that Spain had just had a civil war and was from a military point of view, no match for Italy.Germany would not have risked losing Italy as an ally.I do think however, that we should be able to risk it if we'd like to. Also, if the UK has surrendered, Italy can easily occupy Malta before any Spanish troops arrive at the island. I just hope that Hubert is reading this and is considering to implement these features.
  10. Very well said indeed! I'm not a part of the PBEM league but I do play PBEM against people I actually konw by face(neighbours, friends, family). I'm not anywhere near the level at which, you, rambo or Terif(d'uh) play so your post was indeed very helpful to me. My normal adversaries are not on this forum so they miss out on a lot of background information like, 'don't just throw your army at Poland and hope you'll get Warsaw ', which is in my eyes one of the biggest mistakes a player can make.
  11. JJ, I agree, but I would represent these problems by a higher cost. For example :-Spain gets Gibraltar and French Marocco, the cost is fairly low. -Turkey gets Syria,a territory that had not long ago been seperated from the Ottomanian Empire, the cost is pretty high and maybe the allies could do something like spend a chit or sth on that territory, raising the chance of partisans or lowering the infrastructure and the moral(e?) of the units in the area. Also, about infrastructure. Will eningeneers be able to improve the infrastructure of certain areas or will this work like a tech area?
  12. Yes excellent, thoughI had another proposal some time ago, making it possible to send ultimatums and peace proposals to countries or sides. But there ware some disagreements about that,so if these things are implemented I would be thrilled .
  13. Yes, maybe trieste was a bad example. I would like it to be implemented though, would really make things a lot easier. When I want to give some more territory to Italy in SC1 I have to make sure an Italian unit takes in the capital, sometimes slowing the capitulation of a country(Vichy) by a turn or two. Good conclusion, Italy might have sucked in WW2 but I don't think Spain would have been much better.
  14. Has this been discussed yet? I would like to be able to allocate territories to certain countries(allies or possible allies). Say I conquer the UK with the axis but decide to give Egypt and all the English possesions in the Med. to Italy, Or I conquer Yugoslavia and give Slovenia and Trieste to Italy, raising the chance of an Italian DOW on the allies. This way you can improve diplomatic relations, increase the economic potential of allies like France,Italy or the US or make tactical moves like giving an undefendable territory to a neutral country, saving it from hostile occupation. So, what do you think?
  15. What's not clear about my post? You said ' screw Pershing' because he clearly did like the French, ergo disagreed with you.
  16. If your uncle truly crossed the atlantic and sunk U-boats during the WWI era then I doubt that he would agree with you to "Screw Pershing". General Pershing was a great American hero and in his time was much bigger than Pattor or Ike ever became. He was a great American!!! I would not have expected you, Rambo, to DISPARAGE a Great American and a great General like General Pershing. IF you know your history it was the French who wanted to take our American Doughboys and just through them into the line placing them under the control of the French and the Brits in WWI. It was Pershing who said, "NO" that will never happen and insisted on our American force acting under American commanders and acting independentaly under the allied command. General Pershing was a very good General and a Great American in his day. </font>
  17. That's what I said too. . But appearantly it's a GF thing, my apologies. You are of course very welcome, Sbeu.
  18. I do agree. But what's this bull**** about a new spelling?? And a friendly warning to you,Sbeu, I wouldn't say I was French in this forum, about 3/4 of the members have an unexplainable hatred for the French(me not included,I'm belgian, btw). Most French have left this place after some traumatizing expreciences in the GF,or have retreated to the 'looking for french-speaking opponents'-forum.
  19. About that screenshot, I see Archangelsk on it,but I don't see Murmansk anywhere.
  20. -Deeeeeeeeeeep sigh. -@JJR, so after seeing lord of the rings you started looking on the map where the hell edoras is?? Movies don't even claim to be the truth. -Luxemburg,Belgium and the Netherlands= 3 independant nations also known under the name The Low Countries(it's a name like the baltic states,it's NOT an independant nation.) -Smoking joints is still illegal in Belgium,I don't know about the legal arrangement in the Netherlands but I do know that Duch cops DO have the right to search for drugs. -We don't even have Burger Kings in Europe, just Mc Donalds and the Quik(This is a Western European chain.) -You don't put Mayonaise on french fries in the US? Strange never noticed that before. So what do you use mayonaise for?
  21. JJR, besides the fact that movies can never show the entire picture of a situation or a country the movie ' A Bridge too far' situates itself in the Netherlands, not Belgium(I haven't seen the movie, but know it's about Operation Market Garden, which was in The Netherlands.). WE(Quysson,Kurt88, an myself) LIVE IN BELGIUM, NOT THE NETHERLANDS!!(Amsterdam is in the Netherlands as well) And, yes I do want you to visit, because you obviously have a completey wrong picture about the world outside of the US.
Take that, USA! Sorry, got carried away there for a moment. . JJR, Have you ever set foot on non-US soil?I bet Canada is your limit.
