Men vs. Tanks in Darayya - The powerfull T-72 raids. (31min)
-
Some very unsound tactical choice involving a steep hill;
-
For those of us who enjoy the absurd in all the terror, check out this vid from 09:20 and out, it looks like all the HMGs came together and decided to have a jam session that day!
-
This is a bit interesting. I havent fully checked out all his videos but this guy has some operational/strategic speculation/verfication about troop movements (with maps) in Syria;
-
John,
I want to know what happened to that FSA homemade "tank" with the playstation 2 controller. Then I can die in peace.

Article describing a "Damascus trap" for the rebels;
http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/security/01/12/syrian-army-changes-its-military.html#ixzz2F4teD2hM
Makes sense to pull out of indefensible locations to concentrate them in crucial locations. Must have been some stuff taught by the russians.

Lots of random firing from the BMPs to preempt ambushes along the city roads.
I got to say im wincing at how the vehicles are used in these cramped spaces. They got to be pretty desperate to use them like this. Vital supply routes have to be kept it seems.

Hey guys,
had to work through the last weeks and couldn´t spend my time for CM. First of all, I am very glad to hear, that you have fun with this campaign.
@ Schmoly war: I will try to send you the individual battles until the next week (but there are, of course, no briefings for the rebel´s side)
@ Erwin: As a witness of many actions during the Libyan Conflict, I can tell you, that the only word to describe the tactics, is: CHAOS
You can´t compare these military actions with for example American or British military operations. Indeed, it was only the colour of flags or clothes, who could make it possible to identify one´s affiliation. Even regular troops of the government often wore ridiculous combinations of uniforms and weapons. In many cases you could not distinguish soldiers of the Libyan Armed Forces from members of paramilitary forces.
Regards
Frank
Looking forward to that X.
Yeah chaos is a legit tactic! Push the ignorant naive youth ahead of you with AKs and overwatch with more experienced men. That probably how deep it went.

Regarding mission 4 where you get the TURMs, I hesitated to use them because of the previous mission where it said that there were plenty of mines. Then again, I had to move heavy stuff forward due to the desperate situation. Very nice.
-
AFAIK it's only available as a campaign.
What I like about playing vs the AI is attempting minimal casualties. I am halfway thru mission three, and so far I have only lost about 3 guys from my core forces. (More from the non-core, but I guess they are set up to be more like cannon fodder and I am a bit more careless with them.) Am also enjoying the large maps so flanking maneuvers can be made.
Nonetheless I have made an effort to lead with the Crack core recon guys so they get the most dangerous assignments (along with the Mercenaries) while using the non-core militia and mech forces as fire support and to hold/defend Victory locations.
Was hoping to get some RL tactics hints re how Syria/Libya CO's would handle this sort of strange force mixture, and it's disapponting that no one seems to know.
The BMP 3's and Shilka's rock! And next mission #4 offers the first use of a TURMS T72.
I actually do it the other way, I lead with the militia and overwatch with the crack fellas.
Thats how I would envision it would be like in real life. "No worries my committed fellow countrymen, show your bravery and you might be one of us one day, we got your back, Allah wills it!"
-
Hey im playing this! Its flippin awesome!
Do you have these as individual battles? I like to try out some in H2H.
-
Hey, is/will there be an individual battle pack for this? Id like to play it H2H.

Ill argue that the only satisfactory WW2 material with actors in it are so called dramatizations. My two top votes goes to the dramatizations in the russian documentaries below. I want it gritty and I want it real.
Although the acting is very brief (they dont even have dialogue), it cuts trough the bull**** and shows us personell and decisions that really shaped things. Of course, these dramatizations would only adhere to a niche market, just like us wargamers.

Im starting to do these as PBEMs! I might upload videos.
-
Thanks for your share of the comments but I still think that some points may give the game a better overall score and sharpen the teeth.. if you get my point..
Anyway.. I have a quick question. Is there any (official) archive or site where I can download scenarios and campaigns from other players and maybe even upload my own? If someone knows?

Hi,
I had to reinstall the game due to a pc crash.
Now the game wont run.
Ive gone trough the usual helpdesk stuff at; http://www.battlefront.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=62
Im also running it as an administrator.
Is there some elicense stuff I need to do? I dont get prompted for anything.
Thanks.
-
Right, ive played this in a PBEM now for the last two weeks.
It is a very disappointing conclusion because the US reinforcements would not show up at all. We played at least 12 minutes past the 9:30 time.
A bug?
-
This has proven to be unbeatable in PBEMs ive had. Roll sherman tanks up to the high bocage to defeat Panther and Tigers. Ive never seen shots penetrate my tanks from behind it.
-
Thanks guys!
Ive always thought gaming videos without music were preferable myself. The ambience in this game should stand on its own!
-
Thanks guys. The AAR was fun to make. The bocage in this one is truly vital to ones success, one can see how artillery was so important, and that just grinding down the enemy is often the only way to go.
I messed up the editing at the last one. There is some action at the very end after the action report.
Hoping to make some more AARs. I might make one of Huzzar!
Ive been playing against this opponent since 2007 and he has a very aggressive playing style overall. It'll probably work very well for him on the eastern front
-
Hi guys,
I dont have the budget like that Vierville AAR, with music and black & white special effects, there are still some decent closeups though
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:
Part 4:
Good game to my opponent.
Enjoy!! Watch in HD!!

I play scenarios exclusivly. Hate Qbs and cherry picking.
Send a scenario PBEM to Schmolywar@gmail.com

I had some initial troube with the Le Dezert scenario... but..
the 40 min time limit forced me to really push the panzers HARD and I think the way it forces you to fight is realistic.
Jam your panthers in the front and use the other AFVs in convoy line behind them ala Thunder Run ish, use the infantry mostly along the road beside the tanks. Dont get caught up in prolonged fighting along the route. If necessary drive the panthers constantly on "slow" towards the objectives.
I got a US surrender on this one.
-
Assymetric operational wargames, do they exist? Ive seen about two very limited two scenarios in TOAW3.

There should be a few now, since it is the most prevalent warfare in this century.
