  1. What attracted me to alot of the cmx1 scens/operations were the carefully researched ones.

I myself am looking at what is called "Little Stalingrad" Komsomolskoye, in Chechnya.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Komsomolskoye

Whatever geographical information ive found is very scarce. Does anyone have specific researched material regarding this battle? Or just unique material on the chechen wars in general.

Maps and Osprey style 3d information seems very hard to come by here.

I reckon its the same thing with any african wars or Iran/iraq

  2. "4. A game that can be played by more than 2 people, with a heavy emphasis on cooperative play (CoPlay). While we can not do this feature for the first release (not practical), the game engine itself is being coded to work with many players as soon as we can code the rather difficult technological foundation to allow such play. Think of it like CMBO not having TCP/IP functionality even though the game was written to work using this protocol".

"The thought is that Modules will focus on adding new functionality to the game, but not new features. This means a Civil War release would see several Modules that didn't do much to change the core of the game system, rather add a whole bunch of other game features like terrain, units, weather, etc. Things like CoOp multiplayer or what not would most likely come out with the next game release".

"First release", is this CMSF without the modules? Or is the second release considered the ww2 stuff?

Any news on this since 2005?

  3. On that note, what are the general pros & cons of putting the various AT systems in bunkers and buildings. Besides the obvious backblast effect of rocket propelled projectiles, are various bunkers designed with this in mind? Would you generally expect the ATGMs to be deployed outside enclosed structures. Any data on how the hezbollah deployed their ATGMs?

I havent found any pictures or text on this subject.

I've brought up the topic a few times here (not recalling the village name) and was unable to find anyone else who recalled it. I especially recall seeing TV news footage of Russian artillery rockets being fired flat-trajectory over open sites into the not-too-distant village. Yikes!

The conflict had everything in regards to how a full out guerilla war continuum would evolve in modern times. It didnt quite capture the popular imagination in gaming though, which could be lack of interest in the region, lack of media exposure, or simply ethics (any clip, and I mean any clip on youtube that is from the region is fraught with extreme commotion in the comments sections).

    There are quite a few sources on the conflict. Here is a relevant one where some of the chechen leadership gives insight into how they they planned and executed their battles;

  5. Victoria Cross, you mention amongst others the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. Did you read up on this then:

    Quote:

"Hezbollah also engaged in guerrilla warfare with the IDF, attacking from well-fortified positions. These attacks by small, well-armed units caused serious problems for the IDF, especially through the use hundreds of sophisticated Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). Hezbollah destroyed 14 Israeli Merkava main battle tanks and damaged 50. Six tanks were destroyed by anti-tank mines. Hezbollah caused additional casualties using ATGMs to collapse buildings onto Israeli troops sheltering inside. [58]

After the initial Israeli response, Hezbollah declared an all-out military alert. Hezbollah was estimated to have 13,000 missiles at the beginning of the conflict.[83]. Israeli newspaper Haaretz described Hezbollah as a trained, skilled, well-organized, and highly motivated infantry that was equipped with the cream of modern weaponry from the arsenals of Syria, Iran, Russia, and China".

    So..

An insignificant skirmish in operational terms, but a total media victory for the "underdogs" of Hizbollah.

I suggest you also read up on the two chechen wars in the 1990s and the Dagestan conflict to see how a relative small band of fighters can bloody the noses of imperialistic ambitions, win battles and most importantly the media war. You must be familiar with the battles for Grozny, surely.

Also, check out the craziest operation in modern times: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kizlyar_raid

Im amazed some people still cannot see how playbalance can easily be implemented by a mission designer who sets the victory conditions for each side, and STILL be in tune with reality.

  6. Error msg when connecting to opponent in a tcp/ip game..(cmbb, cmak)

    Unhandled exception: c0000005

    At address: 00000000

This happened suddenly. ALL of our tcp/ip games had worked prior to this. This happens in both cmbb and cmak. There seems to be a correlation in size of the file here. When we start a smaller game, say 1000 pts, it runs fine until about turn 4, when the files gets progressivly bigger. On a large game, it fails at once (pinging sound, error msg) The weird thing is is that on the very same day I played a large game with my opponent and everything worked...the next game we played suddenly didnt...it didnt matter which scenario..or if i reinstalled the whole game. No setting son my pc have been changed either...Ive runned antivirus..defrag..spybot..the lot. This happens when i connect to all my opponents..

    What is the problem here?
