  1. Dude, i've been dying for BF to add a strategic/ operational layer for years now...nice see others feel the same way.

It doen't matter if its TOW or CMX2 but this is a feature that has to be added to one of these games.

I'm glad that AP 1943 has come out and raised the bar. I bought the game for 16 bucks, best money I ever spent, awesome what the guys at graviteam pulled of on such a small budget. Now lets see if 1C and Battlefront can resond to the statment AP1943 has made.

  2. "You can add new missions as a single skirmish or create a brand new campaign and fill it with missions created by you either in the Mission Generator or in the Mission Editors. If you want to create new maps, the powerful Map Editor application is also available."

    -from the features page

So you can build your own campaign on the fly, someone have any more details on this ?

  3. That makes sense...on a side note a new feature I would love to see developed would be the campaign system into a more dynamic environment. Something similar to Falcon 4.0 (I know its a sim) where the war is going on around you and you could jump into a tactical battle from the stategic layer. I BF could pull this of it would be the game of the decade, but its a huge undertaking for a small company like BF. To me this is where the CM series should go, I feel like the upcoming games are just cookie cutters from the same engine with no real development of new game play. If I wanted to just have a tactical demonstration I would play steel beasts, a dynamic campaign environment is where the CM series could really change wargaming as we know it.

  4. Thats the point of my statement, I think its time for BF to expand and hire more coders. If one has accomplished all this, just think what can be accomplished with 3 to 5. Has BF thought about out sourcing to eastern europe, theres a cheap coder workforce over there. Just look at all the games coming out of eastern europe right now. There's so many things that need to be improved that BF "doesn't have time" for . It seems that the great product they are producing has a demand greater than the means.

  5. Seems or feels too restricting considering I got a solid CPU and graphics card horsepower.

    CPU: Quadcore Q9550 2.83 GHz

    Memory: 4G

    Card: GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB

CMSF only uses one CPU, so duo or quad core users get zero benefits. I know this has been discussed before, they said it's simply not worth the time and effort to code for multi-core CPUs.

Certainly coding for full quad-core support is a bit overboard. But at least addressing this for duo-cores would be great. This is at the top of the list IMO.

NO support for multi core in CMSF ? That sucks, I love BF but sometimes decisions like this just seems GHETTO.

  6. It seems ATI has launched thier latest series of GPUs, the 5870 and the 5850. The reviews state that they perform well, with resonable prices. I currently have an ATI 4870, and from the reviews the 5870 is a considerable upgrade from a 4870.

I also suffer from the ATI driver crash and can only play cmsf on my laptop with an nvidia 8600m. I would like to do the upgrade, but in light of the ATI driver issues, how would this affect CMSF.

also reviews mentioned something about the 5870 supporting openCL, if CMSF uses openGL for graphics, does this cause conflict? I ask just for sake of knowledge, not really well schooled on this stuff.

  7. "e.g.

    cd C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9_3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH6A_INF\B_76557

then enter Expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll into cmd and press enter.

This will expand atioglxx.dll in the current folder.

copy atioglxx.dll and paste in cmsf's main folder.

I did also put it in modules just in case as I saw a dll in there."

Cant understand the cmd press enter part.

  8. I don't know about all that. I don't want longer, bigger battles, I just don't want to be cut off when I need another half hour to assault a town. If I've been spending so much time perfectly moving my troops without any casualties and they're in the midst of a final assualt, I don't want to be cut off. No one is asking for ALL scenarios to be unlimited, the option to keep playing would be nice to have.

I can't agree more, I've had this problem all the way back to cmbb. I can't tell you how many times I wish I had more time for an assault. Personally I think time limits are unrealistic. You think a company commander has a stop watch counting down during an attack? Hell no, the mission is over when accomplished or failed, a time limit is trivial in that sense.

Option for for continuing the senario past the limit has to be allowed, I think there is enough interest in this thread for BFC to want to make this happen.

I can't tell you how many senarios I'm going to go back and play if this is implemented.

  9. I would love to see this in cmx2 ww2. I have been dying for a cmc type interface to enhance cm games. It doesn't even have to be very sophisticated, just something to show some of the operational decisions/ situation so that the tactical fighting is a little more immersive. I can be done, the close combat games had a simple middle interface for managing campaigns. If we can get a minimal cmc style interface in cmx2, then the foundation will be there to grow and improve.

  10. I guess thats why I keep writing in this thread, because i have found no resolve to this problem which sounds like others are experiencing. It's really frustrating because I love this game and I buy everything that battlefront does to support them, but scrolling the map sucks when the trenches look all blotchy unless zoomed to ground level.

If you say battlefront resolved some graphics issues in 1.11, then hopefully this thread will make them look into this for 1.12. I understand that this was done to optimize the game, but for some reason this new feature sucks on my system.

I would like to see more user customization in the game options for draw distance so people that need it can use it, and the people like me, that get blotchy trenches unless zoomed to ground level, can turn it off.

  11. No reply from anyone at Battlefront? This is killing me, the biggest problem is mainly the trenches. They don't draw properly at all, I have to get right on top of them for them to draw. It sucks when scrolling the map because the trenches are either invisible or blotchy unless I stop and zoom in. There has got to be a fix for this, nvidia 8800 gts is a popular card, I there has to be a way to resolve this.
