  1. HardRock,

Never heard of those rules, but have about a dozen or so that I carefully selected over the years. Yes, I remember all too well those line of sight arguements, lol. Figure I have about 10 good yrs left of TableTop Miniature and Computer gaming before I leave the scene all together.

  2. Hello HardRock,

I remember when first got into playing WWII miniatures, it was back in the late 70s and early 80s playing HO ROCO Tanks & Figs with a set of rules called Tractics by Gary Gygax.

Later I got into GHQ & C&C 1/285 scale WWII Mirco-Armour, still have a fair collection.

  3. I would like to see the game automatically pause every minute so you can issue squad level orders just like in CM. If you have no orders that turn just click continue play.

Platoon HQ issues an order to its Squads - Squad Leader issues the order to his men, total time can be anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes depending on Command distance, troop quality & moral, current battlefield conditions, etc, for the order to finally take affect.

If only the Squad leader issues an order then about 1 minute delay before all his men recieves and acts on the order.

  4. Hello Hinkel,

Yes i have heard of Flames of War and was about to get it until someone told me about it being similar to Warhammer with lots of dice rolling.

I will just have to visit the local hobby shop where there is a group playing Flames of War and see how it looks for myself.

  5. Its nice that there are some others besides myself that know about the GHQ website.

I started collecting and gaming WW2 Micro Armor and 15mm figs back in the 80s, i still to this day purchase when i can. Im now working on getting some of the German Blitzkrieg area models, i already have a few rules sets that i have acquired over the years.

My Dad got me into WW2 gaming when i was around 15 years old. He first started off collecting and playing ROCO 1/87 and 1/76 figs back in the 70s using a set of rules called TRACTICS. Shortly after he sold his collection in favor of GHQ and other Micro Armor related companies. Dad is 65 now and once a month when i come to visit we still find time to play some Micro Armor on a gaming table that we both built years ago.

  6. Im in agreement with Other Means, i also want a pause feature to be used. Here are some C&C and pause features i would like to see in the game.

First - You issue General Tactical Orders for your troops then click start to begin the game.

Second - Every 60 seconds the game pauses automatically so if you want you can issue new orders. You could even have a time limit to issue new orders just like Combat Mission TCP.

Third - I would like to see a command delay:

If you are a squad leader and issue new orders to your troops there should be atleast a 1 minute delay depending on current battlefield conditions, leader & troop quality, moral, etc, before they can react.

If you are a Platoon leader then there should be anywhere from 2 to 5 minute delay depending on current battlefield conditions, leader & troop quality, moral, etc, before everyone can react to the new orders.

When the game is over you can use the playback feature to view the entire battle from start to finish without the pause interruptions.

I would have to play against the AI a few games before deciding how much micromanagement is needed.

  7. After reading many posts regarding this game here are some things on my wish list:

    - Entering buildings

    - FoxHoles or Trenches

    - Smoke Dischargers & Smoke Mortars

    - Vehicle Riders

    - limited Airpower

    - Intergrated Platoon or Company Mortars

    - No use of enemy equipment during the battle, its usually giving to a higher HQ for testing or storage.

    - Use of friendly equipment when your own becomes lose due to combat, with a penalty if the equipment is not of the same type.

  8. Stone,

I think the same as you and have added the following.

A light or medium tank should clear small 1 or 2 meter trees in a scattered woods setting w/o much problem assuming they are going at a slower then normal off road speed of 5mph or slower. Medium size trees in a scattered woods i think should take several seconds longer. The tank would approach the tree very slowly ( 1 or 2mph ) to knock it down and hopefully in the process not damage any suspension or track components or get bogged.

If tanks are allowed to go thru a forest setting ( tall trees ) i think they should not be able to KO trees but rather navagate slowly ( 1 or 2mph ) around them.

Tanks should not enter a Woods setting because of many more densely pacted trees and underbrush and would cause suspension damage and bogging.
