  1. OK, Done as you suggested. Have done some playtesting and guess what: no problems. I have to have the game running a bit longer to be completely sure though. Thanks very much for support! Such a thing I wouldn´t have expected from Nvidias software. I feel a little bit sorry though, because it seemed as the faulting driver gave me a tad bit better graphics quality and performance. But that I can live with. Nevertheless, thanks again. Regards Gurra [ August 18, 2004, 12:46 PM: Message edited by: Gurra ]
  2. I'm kind of a minimalist, so I have got some 14 processes running in total, of which all are just the ones required for windows working properly. I have also cleaned up the registry, made a virus scan and run both Ad-aware and Spybot. Hardware specs: Intel Pentium 2.53 ghz MSI FX5900 128mb (non overclocked) 1 HD 80 gb - game only disk 1 HD 30 gb - system disk Audigy 1 XP Pro updated per today Nvidia forceware 61.77 I might try an older VGA driver as you suggested. **As I write this, I reckon I tried coolbits and overclocked my card a while ago. I chose the automatic and safe option, but the card didn´t seem to like that, dropping me out to desktop with distorted graphics(kind of too much intensity or white on the screen). I then restored initial settings and rebooted and everything was fine. Before that, I never had any problems. Could all this be the result of a permanent damage to my card perhaps?..please tell me it ain´t so.**
  3. Can´t be memory - I have changed nothing like that since the machine worked like clockwork. Cooling - well, I had my thoughts on that, but I have installed one more fan and the GPU now never goes beyond 63 degrees celsius with the overall temperature somewhere around 43. Could it be some software or dll's that causes a conflict or so? I am at a loss. Thanks for your reply Alkiviadis.
  4. I don´t seem to find any good answers anywhere regarding this problem in XP. Have anyone had these problems with CM? Reboot when playing CMBB: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf2bbf17a, 0xf4b0cc60, 0xf4b0c960). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini081804-01.dmp. All to often this also happens: Faulting application barbarossa to berlin.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module barbarossa to berlin.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x001662f5. Or: Fault bucket 129438540. I have all the latest drivers and so installed. Would much appreciate any advice on this.
  5. Thank you Hans, I realize that "middle-size" are a fluid expression. I guess I meant between 3000-5000 points. I presume these scenarios can be found at the Scenario Depot or Proving Grounds?
  6. Hi, anyone who can make a suggestion on a well balanced two-player scenario for CMBB, middle size, mixed forces, or maybe with a favor for armour, 1943 and onwards? Regards Gurra
  7. Think so? I have reinstalled directX (9C) and also the newest Nvidia drivers. It still happens. Do I have to point out that this is somewhat frustrating when playing big scenarios and you have just finished all plotting, sitting through calculations and are just about to accept the reward when - a blipping sound when you click the mouse and on the desktop a note delivers various unhandled exceptions. Muhahhharraggha.
  8. What is this? Faulting application cm afrika korps.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module cm afrika korps.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0010e03a. Please, a clue?!
  9. I think I might have some temperature probs: When playing, GPU shows degrees between 65 - 72 celcius. I don´t know if this is normal. Sometimes Combat Mission shuts down unexpectedly, and I think this could be the issue. Other games like CoD has shown this behavior too, crashing to desktop with corrupted graphics in windows as symptom. What is considered to be "normal" working temp? The "case temperature" show between 38 - 45 c. Please help? Regards Gurra
  10. Has anyone started to think about this? I might go ahead and try some, but I wanted to know if there might be a chance that something is about to turn up.
  11. Just finished Never Known against Allied AI and I must say it played really well. I love those small well thought out scenarios. I´m looking forward to more releases.
  12. I realized I was a bit fascinated that there seem to be very few tank sims out on the market, but a lot of flight sims. Then I heard of Panzer Elite, and saw it was selling for just over a dollar. Anyone tried this game? The graphics look a bit ropey, I have to say, but are simulation and immersion good? I thought it could be a nice "in between CM fights game".
  13. I´m glad that you liked it, junk2drive. I was a bit unsure of how you wanted your treebases.
  14. Yes, it´s true. After much gruelling work, I have finally managed to produce an acceptable result. As I´ve explained in the accompanying txt file, I chose to keep the bmp's for both brush and tree bases the same. This means that it's difficult to separate the two when viewing from atop in-game. But, in my opinion, the terrain blends in better with the different elements. The solution though, is at hand. Because I have included two version of both: a light and a dark version, the latter representing less snow, if you ask me. And finally there´s a bonus included. A hi-res open ground mod for light snow conditions - to go with the other stuff. (the other stuff fits BFC original open ground snow pretty well to.) No pics here, unfortunately, but I reckon you can take a look at CMMODS just as easy. Hope it does some good. Best regards Gurra
  15. Ok, I reckon that is the way to do it, but it won´t work if you decide on an operation, cause then you have to go via new op.
  16. How do you use Quick Battle Maps for operations or battles that you might want to do later? Because if you load a map and then choose new operation, that map will be lost, right? So, how to do it?
  17. I´ve been playing some time with a modified mod. It´s actually Magua's old Normandy grass that I have reshaped and recoloured. Personally I´m quite satisfied with the result and have settled with this one. I have versions for all open ground in CMAK plus another version for CMBB steppe-just a different colour tone. It's no super frills mod, more like a subtle improvement (hi-res), with colourazation close to BFC original. It kind of resembles bumpy ground. Since I haven´t done it originally, I take no credit for it and I would also like to check with the original author before anything gets uploaded. But, question is, until Tom's super mod arrives, anyone interested? Alright, I have uploaded it. Check it out and see if it fits your visions. [ July 13, 2004, 11:31 AM: Message edited by: Gurra ]
  18. I guess it´s correct. It´s just frustrating, or infuriating, to see one's attack get stuck and never recover any pace. But, I realize I would like to hear some viewpoints from you other players on infantry management, even though I know this issue been up before in various topics. My thinking goes: I sometimes wish that battlefront would release a CMBO infantry patch for CMBB and CMAK. I know it´s realistic and all that when infantry squads are pinned down and refuse to behave accordingly with one's attack plans, but for the sake of gaming, I wonder if it wouldn´t be more rewarding to cope with excessive losses and scenario failure because of that, instead of having to cancel all these sneak orders and constantly having to reorganize your platoons halfway to the critical VL. It wouldn´t be that very unrealistic if the squads could perform more actions before they´re pinned and panicked but on the other hand paying for it in KIA's. The choice would be all yours: use cover, care for your men and do it the safe way or be bold and pay the tribute. I been a friend with this game quite some time now, and it seems I can never get tired of it, but as I have come to see it, the reason why the game is just short of being the perfect wargame and not actually being it, is because it's so unrewarding when it comes to infantry management. Am I way off here? What are you´re opinions?
  19. I recall all those photos of russian infantry making a run over a snowy field along with their T-34's, trying to seize that village for the 5th time. In Combat Mission you definitly never want to try that more than once. I wonder, is there glue in the snow? This atmoshperic phenomenon make all battles during winter slower than old grandma. And I´m not talking about 300 meters of running here, god damn it, maybe only 30! Little or no physical training have been exercised here. The good point with this though, is that summer warfare feels extremely flexible.
  20. Thanks for your input. I´ll keep on trying various methods. Maybe I find something.
  21. I´ve created a battle in CMBB: Allied attack, not a very big map, and in order to up the pace of the AI attack when playing as defender, I thought it would be a good idea to swap flags for exit points. But the result is pretty dull. AI forces don´t show up at all. Why is this? Otherwise, anyone having any tip for forcing the AI to speed up when attacking?
  22. I have got the Battlefront US version. BUT - I did reinstall directx and I haven´t had the problem since. Let's hope for it... Thanks for reply anyway.
