  1. Good points from both but to clarify, what we are currently using today to determine LOS is actually a LOF/Targeting tool. So for the purposes of my OP and in the context of today's game they are one and the same. So I guess I should amend my OP to say LOF to avoid confusion.

Personally I think one tool could server both purposes if done correctly but the point of my OP is that it takes far too long to use the method we have currently to determine either LOS or LOF.

But there is the problem IMO, you can have LOS to a action spot, but not LOF to a target within that action spot... Thus there should be two tools, one for just LOS like you stated in the OP, and two should be a LOS/LOF tool, that currently exists..

  2. UPDATE-- All is on schedule for this release 'October 1st' ... I have captured some great video during some of the playtests and will be posting a short movie showcasing some of the battles in the next couple of days... Also more screenies have been added to the website....

One of the things I found entertaining in testing is the voice when a 'chopper' is reporting to the FO and you can here the whirlybird sound of the motor get loud in the background...

  3. Wow, I never expected that would be a game limitation. I was really looking forward to a H2H campaign but Hot seat is just not an option for me PBEM is the only way I can go. BF is this as designed for campaigns or is there something the campaign author can do to make this work for PBEM?
I know what you mean.... I thought I was doing something wrong, and if I am, I can't figure it out... Maybe BFC can chime in on this....
  4. H2H hot seat - is it really restricted to hot seat no PBEM? What would cause that restriction or is this a recommendation due to file size?

Right Now that is the only way I can get a campaign with H2H to work.. PBEM and LAN are grayed out... so only Hotseat is an option... Still looking into this... But all scenarios will be released in a Battle Pack... so PBEM will be available to all, but outside the context of a campaign within the CMBN software....

  6. How long have you been working on it and what is the ETA? Just curious.

Well with the work on the Sie Kommen II campaign for CM:BN I believe I can have this released by October 1st... I have 7 of the 9 maps done and 3 scenarios tested, need to do all the briefings, maps, etc plus there will be a PDF document with some in depth information (fictional) about each battle, and additional map/aerial photo style information. If you keep an eye on the website, I will update both this campaign and Sie Kommen II as I go...

I worked on this back in Feb-March, but then CM:BN came along... I really enjoy CM:A though, its got a really good 'feel' to it... and I am gettin back into it...

  7. Working on a new campaign for CM:A named Major Nosov's Brigade - A Company, 56th Airborne Brigade commanded by Major Usof Nosov goes to battle against Mujahideen and Tribal Militia during December 1979 thru April 1980.

Information, Status, and Screen shots can be found at CM:A link at Fredrocker's Combat Mission Site (link below)

  8. I took a blank map, put tall grass on 6 sq x 6 sq in the editor (48mx48m) took a screen shot scaled it to google maps of 50m and 100m (could be scaled to 200m but the squares get real small... I take screen shot of the google map, overlay the screenshot of the editor map, and give it a 60% opacity... Then view that (I have a dual monitor setup, but you could print it) as I make my map in the editor it is to scale and accelerates the map making process... for anyone interested in the overlays just drop me a line...
