  1. Whenever my friend and I try to play a head to head game, 2 player internet/lan Quick Battle, we connect fine. By the time we get our forces picked and start, the game says your opponent has left the battlefield or something like that. Any help is appreciated.

I think it can be a problem of open port.

you use some program? (hamachi or tungle..... p2p)

  2. Features of the tournament:

PBEM; Single Elimination; Mirrored games; QB based maps with specific settings; 16 players in the starting for 4 rounds.

About 1 file for day. There will be a draconian deadline :D (Write your curriculum)

  3. I disagree. I think 80 games is a decent number of games to look at and say "gee, that's interesting".

For heaven's sake, people complain about the balance of a scenario they played after _one_ playing. They are happy to look at graphs like this:

    http:///gregories.net/bobster/bobster.cgi?function=scenario-results-histogram&scenario=Carbide%20Carbide

and say "gee, that scenario looks imbalanced" ... after only 5 games.

80 games is significant enough to be interesting.

Another random interesting graph apropos the topic of this thread:

    bobster.cgi?function=scenario-results-histogram-image&scenario=Vierville

Would be interesting to tell us what are the points available in this scenario.

We may find that the points have preferential distributions.....

  4. I have reviewed the points of the QB.

There was an error in my conclusion, on ground targets.

    Here's the new table:

Scontro (ME) unit pt 600 terrain pt 400

Probe unit pt 500 terrain pt 500

Attack unit pt 350 terrain pt 650

Assault unit pt 250 terrain pt 750

As you can see the total is still 1000.

Points of terreain are recalculated in proportion to those indicated on the map to give the desired value.

Example map ME with two obj 10pt and 30 pt, points will be counted 100 and 300.

  5. ok it's just, in QB, to maintain a certain standard settings to not confuse the players.

But it would also be interesting to have some additional options.

I am referring to the scores, and the relationship between objective of unity and terrain.

So why not add (only for to those interested) the ability to manually change the scores.

example (this is the standard setting for ME):

Unit obj -> 600 pt Terrain obj -> 400 pt

or the ratio between the two Unit obj /Terrain obj -> 3/2

Another possibility would be to take the points as set in the QB map.

Infinite for the length of battle please add also the options 35, 40, 50 and 55 minutes.

  6. This is the table for points budget:

    Battle -> tiny / samll/ medium / large / huge

    Scontro (ME) 951;951/1547;1547/2560;2560/4282;4282/7209;7209

    Probe 1121;780 /1836;1257/3052;2068 /5118;3445 /8631;5787

    Attack 1164;738/ 1908;1185 /3175;1945 /5327;3236/8986;5432

    Assault 1206;695/1981;1112/ 3298;1822/5536;3027/9342;5076

And yes " in an Assault QB, the attacker also receives some pre-battle intel ( "?" markers where some of the defenders are known/suspected to be) in the setup phase.

This is the table of QB points for unit obj. : (Manual: "number of points are rewarded for causing enemy unit casualties. The more casualties caused, the more points are awarded)

    Scontro (ME) punti 600

    Probe pt 500

    Attack pt 350

    Assault pt 250

To finish the setup area, the terreain objective zones and also the points for terreain objective zones are preset on the QB map.

Is important to remember from the manual: "Meeting Engagement, Probe, Attack, Assault, or Random. This setting has an impact of what type of Quick Battle Map will be loaded: if you select Meeting Engagement, only maps defined as Meeting Engagement will be considered for loading. If you choose any of the other Battle Types, then only maps which are NOT a Meeting Engagement are considered."

So we should already be the difference between attack, assault or probe on the map.

  7. ok points for buy forces:

    Battle -> tiny / samll/ medium / large / huge

    Scontro (ME) 951;951/1547;1547/2560;2560/4282;4282/7209;7209

    Probe 1121;780 /1836;1257/3052;2068 /5118;3445 /8631;5787

    Atack 1164;738/ 1908;1185 /3175;1945 /5327;3236/8986;5432

    Assault 1206;695/1981;1112/ 3298;1822/5536;3027/9342;5076

  8. Installing mods seems very easy, but I can't find the "BF data folder" anywhere. I looked in the C drive....program files, CB:BN package? Do I just creat a 'Z' folder right on the desktop?

    Man, do I feel stupid.........:o

You have the icon with double click start CMBN. Ok now not use double click, but Right click on CMBN icon (executable) -> Show package contents and open the folder ->Contents -> Resources -> tattaaaaaa DATA.

  9. I like it too. Love the feel and atmosphere of it. It's definitely not CMSF. I really enjoy playing with and learning the Soviet era equipment and organizations. Very different from what we are used to.

I just wish more people were playing it and that we start to see more diverse and varied scenarios. I think the potential is huge.

    I totally agree.
