  1. Stupid me, I meant to say Close Combat III, not Combat Mission.
  2. I liked Combat Mission III, except the AI is terrible. No logic at all behind it's moves. Gets irritating after a short while.
  3. J P Wagner, I would suggest you try the PBEM league. I've had a lot fun there & never saw any signs of cheating. Just people playing for fun. Rambo, I don't usually get involved or even read these kind of threads, but Terif's comments did not indicated he cheated at anything. Remember that for a lot of us (including myself), English is not our first language. Taking every word & trying to read something in it is not fair. I'm sure if you wrote something in German or French, you could be be hung just as easily.
  4. I suggest trying the 1944 D-Day campaign as Axis, it is more of a challenge than the other default campaigns (against the AI anyways).
  5. I have not played too much yet, but from the games where I have seen a very early LC gambit, France is forced to leave a hole in the Maginot Line. I just plowed through it on the next turn, causing premature Italian entry. I vote against the proposal.
  6. Oak, thank you very much for doing all this.
  7. According to the Zappleagues rules: " Axis DOW USA rule (version 1.06 only): In version 1.06 Axis may NOT declare war against the USA since a bug will then robb the USA of their cash handicap bonus."
  8. Please add myself to your list. I have never played PBEM before (only a few TCP games). Paqman Email = mpaq74@hotmail.com
  9. Hello, I have a few multi-player games that were started under patch 1.07 beta. If I dowload the final version, will these games be erased, or can they still be played? It would be a shame to lose them all. Thanks.
  10. That is interesting, I have not seen that before. I have only seen the AI attempt a landing in Norway if one of the cities is unoccupied. Paqman
  11. I am by no means an expert, but I thought I would give my 2 cents. I have won against the Allies with +2 exp. on a few occasions. My main tactic is to get air supremacy on the western front. This is a MUST. I try to get 4 or 5 air fleets, with 1 HQ of course. Investing early in research, if I am lucky I can get jets +1 & range +1. First, I try to gang up on th british air fleet, then the free french air fleet. Then gang up on the HQ, and ships. Once you get air supremacy, it should be easy going. When the USA join, you can pick apart transports. I have not had any success with Italian air fleets. I can't invest in research, so they are no match for Allied +2 fleets. Maybe I don't know the best way to use them. On the eastern side, I advance a little slower than usual, and especially guards against partisans with Italian corps. I take all the cities before reaching Moscow, and then it's defense for a few turns like stated by santabear. The AI is not very smart with these extra units, just throws them into the fight. With air supremacy in the West, I can delay or prevent an invasion, so I can take my sweet ass time in the east. I don't always win, and if I do it's pretty late 1946+. Paqman
  12. It sure is nice to see a forum where everybody's ideas are respected. I am opposed to an Iraq war. Yes, Saddam is a dictator, ruthless but let's not forget that the U.S. helped him while he was fighting the Iranians. He was no better back then. Even with smart bombs, you will be killing Iraqis who might be in the army, but are not there by choice. I think President Bush is attempting to divert attention from issues at home (for example, record deficit).
  13. Stece C. Thanks for the reply. I will let you know in a little while, I just want to play a little more. I'll send you an email in the near future. Regards, Paqman
  14. Hello all, Just wanted to say that I have been playing SC for a few weeks now, and I truly love this game. It is also quite refreshing to see the great support offered on this web site from the creator as well as from other players. I have been reading most of the topics with great interest. I have just a few questions in regards to ladder play: - Are there any tactics that not acceptable (i.e. too gamey)? For example, the Italian gambit, moving all your french troops to England, etc. - Also, are live internet games possible with an old fashioned dial up modem? I look forward to reading more posts, and playing some of you in the future (when I'm a more worthy opponent). Paqman
