I'm thinking about the probably common M1A1 Abrams vs T-72 encounter we will have in CMSF.
I made a quick search and didn't immediately find the answers I was looking for.
Obviously the T-72s most probable way of winning is by outnumbering the Abrams and then flanking it. But what if the syrian player looses all his T-72s but one?
Can the front armour of the Abrams be penetrated by the T-72?
What tactics do I employ to destroy/immobilise the M1A1?
What ammunition will the T-72 load ? Is there a magical super ammunition like the tungsten in WW2 to deal with the M1A1 ?
What ammunition is most effective vs the M1A1, and at what range ?
In this situation neither force has infantry but there is lots of cover and off course the T-72 has an elite crew just to make things interesting .
Enlighten an amateur armchair general and sorry if the questions been asked before...

Super cool with whipped cream and sugar on top and some hot fudge sauce on the side !Originally posted by SGT_56M:keep an eye on the link in my sig.

I agree. I thought the eastern front seemed a grey and dull place, but IMHO it has the coolest units available in old CM.Originally posted by MarkEzra:Salkin: I expect you are right. I had little interest in Eastern theatre but bought CMBB just the same. The new features at that time made it an excellent purchase. What lay in store with CMSF makes me salivate with anticipatory joy not felt since CMBO days.
In Battlefront we trust (fanboy statement) .

Awesome Dan !
Sergeis taxis are lovely and all, but THIS is what I was looking for.
Playing syrians can probably be a fun challenge. Does anyone have any cool stories about defeating/neutralizing an M1A1 with infantry based weapons ?

Hmm.....very nice ?
Hehe...seriously that was pretty cool but do you know what would be even cooler ?!
I'll tell you !
A short story about why those guys are taking a cab to battle when there are cool strykers about.
And don't give me some crap about the editor, we have that stuff in five other threads. Get creative (without the editor that is).

In the early days when CMSF had just been announced alot of WW2 grogs/players said that they would pass on this one, but like Steve wrote in an answer to one of these threads some of them have had a change of heart and I bet many of them will at least try the demo.Originally posted by MarkEzra:Gonzo: John F. Antal wrote a fun book called -Infantry Combat the Rifle Platoon- It describes a lone US Infantry platoon's stand against a Mechanized onslaught.
KwayzDog: I a WW2 guy who has pre-ordered. Are there any CMBB/AK/BO threads with players actually saying they'll sit this game out?

Ok, I just preordered the cool collections pack and wanted to celebrate by creating a big warmup/hype thread with cool questions to the testers and developers so here goes :
What has been the most satisfactory/fun moment(s) in your CMSF gaming(testing)/development history ?
First and foremost I want to give us gamers a taste of what's to come so don't hold back guys .

I want a fun simple campaign with a few branching battles. What do I mean with fun and simple ?
Well first of all I want fun scenarios over realistic ones. For instance scenarios where there's a small unsuported american infantry force vs a larger syrian mechanised enemy. This is very unlikely in the real world, but it would turn the table a bit and force the americans to employ ambush tactics.
Another fun but not very realistic thing could be an armour vs armour battle on short range in a rural environment with lots of cover. Hills, trees and some houses maybe.
What do I mean by simple? Well background story and stuff doesn't have to be super detailed , just interesting and detailed enough to be entertaining and easy to read.

That magasine is definitely not swedish Sergei, it sounds like something a couple of finnish guys dreamt up in the sauna.Originally posted by Sergei:So you too are a reader of "VĂ¥ra Pojkar"?

Probably true Sergei. So I'm guessing you are crossing the border to buy yourself a swedish magazine .
Thanks RogueX, google is the sane thing to do, but like I said I never pass up an opportunity to get riddiculed around these grog ridden forums .

Hi everybody , I just wanted to bring a heads up to some fine PR work done by BFC (Moon?) .
In the latest swedish PC Gamer they have an ad for CMSF, they also have a competition where you can win a copy of the game.
Being very ungrogsmanlike and never being one to pass up an opportunity to get riddiculed in these forums I have to admit that one of the questions was a bit challenging.
"The helmets of the american army are based on the old helmets from :"
"The wehrmacht"(I'm guessing it's this one...)
"The swedish helmets"
"The Navy Seals"(...or this one)
I'm looking to get an extra copy to get a friend addicted, and this competition is a fine way of not paying for it .
Thankfull for any help and/or riddiculing.

Well, you just did !Originally posted by Moon:When I read the title I thought this was a poll about playing real-time vs. WeGo... which might be a much more interesting question in the end by the way. But I don't want to hijack

Shame on you Moon .

Ragdoll is nice, but I'm pretty sure it's out. But like someone said previously the OFP animations are also great. Blood and gore is no necessity in my book.
I'm going to go with Mord on this one , because he's funny .
Seanachai is also funny but in a more bating maner so...better luck next time Seanachai.

Well seriously, to keep things a bit authentic we have to have at least a few death animations. Remember folks, the devil is in the details and just as moving tracks is a detail so is visible response to getting shot.

G. Check out some forums impressions and then buy it online.

Good stuff. I didn't like the "it won't replace CM1" part. I would imagine that even if this isn't your favourite backdrop for a game the new game engine would make up for it. Well if it doesn't we will always have the old WW2 scenario in the next CMX game...

This just turned into a very entertaining thread about carpets .
The reason I asked is that I figured that the red colour in certain rooms mean something. It doesn't make sense that CMSF has red carpets but no other furniture. Maybe it's a room with concrete walls instead of the regular wooden walls and they mark this with a red "carpet".
Or maybe sometimes a red carpet is just a red carpet .
//Salkin
-
So what's the story on the red carpet ?
It's a nice colour and everything but does it do anything ?

A must have...hmm...here's hoping for another 2 year addiction that each of the other CM games brought with them.
If you Haplo_Patryn or anyone else who played this game could write a short AAR to let us get a feel for this game, that would be excellent .
