First of all...they didn't change the old CM they made an ENTIRELY new engine. That means they can't do things exactly the same even if they wanted too. They have earlier stated that the environments are way too complex for the AI to form a plan so right now the strategic AI in quick battles is extremely basic ,this may however change with upcomming patches, only time will tell.Originally posted by sandy:Sorry, but these are not adequate answers
After 4 years waiting, expecting the QB funtionality of CM1 (as in CMBO, etc), does not seem unreasonable to me, instead of regression to the current state of CMSF.
Better to have a 2008 release that has fun QBs, than this disappointment.
(I am hoping, trusting, that some fun QB functionality will make it after a few patches, but my point is why do we need patches to fix what was so right in the old CM and is so wrong now?)
As for not being unreasonable to expect QB's to function 100% , I sort of agree, but things are how they are and my time traveling machine doesn't work so we have to deal with how things are.
Try to hang in there for a bit longer and try some of the scenarios and I'm sure BFC will patch up the quickbattles eventually.
This game is way to full of good stuff to just discard IMO.

You should also be able to que up a hide command , so that once the units get into position they hide.

I think I saw a finnish name as the author but it sure as heck wasn't Sergei .
About the grenade thing, I was thinking that it might be possible to get a nade into an unbuttoned stryker for the KO (by knocking out the controls inside basicly).
Childress, about the camping in the back...I'm not sure if that is a mechanic that works in CMSF, hiding them should be sufficient, but I could be wrong.
Let's see if we can't get an official answer .

My love for this game and especially urban warfare is growing.
I recently tried the mission Ambush in Al Fubar:
**SPOILERS****************************************
On the second playthrough I set up a nice ambush for some massed strykers plus infantry that the computer was sending in.
The US assault team enter the ambush area and the trap springs:
My lone RPG gets off one shot at a stryker hitting it on the side just seconds after it had deployed all it's troops. BOM! Infantry temporarily went to the ground and the stryker got slightly damaged while at the same time it got very pissed off.
Seconds later LOTS of infantry followed by two angry strykers enter the backyard where my ambush was set. Huge volumes of fire from three of my squads strip the strykers of all their infantry support.
Unfortunately while this was going on the damaged stryker and his two buddys were turning my RPG team into sausage fillings.
After this they went straight up to the rest of my infantry while doing their worst to overheat their MGs and grenade launchers.
Things were looking bad so I decided to bug out with the remains of my 3 squads (they were more like 1.2 squads now...).
Not unlike other fights in this new gem of a game it was all very cool and dramatic.

So on to the highlight of this post, the questions:
Is it possible to injure/KO unbuttoned strykers with a frag grenade into it's openings, or some other frail part ?
If the RPG man in a bigger squad is injured/dead is it possible for another man in the squad to pick up and use the RPG ?

Definitely too early to tell...I want a patch or two and with the incredible depth in this gameplay I need , say, 20 more hours to play before I can form a solid opinion.
It's definitely impressive, pretty, detailed and cool though...so it's not all bad .

When you pick scenarios, there are a number of icons showing if it's a meeting engagement, etc. Where are these icons explained in the manual ?

Ok guys, quick question for all the new CMSF commanders out there. I'm in urban warfare and a firefight is about to go sour. I still have a few moments to react before people die but I need to get the heck out of dodge!
There is incomming small arms fire and I want my squad to retreat while using cover and maybe even return fire.
What command do I use ?
