  1. Funny cow, great thread this is!! what a joke... Im very disapointed some1 finally has managed to find out my way to conquer italy in turn 5, well, i posted that thread so long ago i just cant remember when...i didnt say how i did it but i posted it as a warn that i wasnt going to allow such a move in any of my games, and as i told in that thread i wasnt going to do it never. Now, i knew some players would go for it thinking of it as a great discovery, i only know its a great ****, and trying to use it says much about a player. Well, Rambo, more than proud i will be ashamed of using it, if that is yer way to try to beat terif then u r really crazy about it. My only sorrow is that maybe that first thread has lead to unscrupulous players to find the way to do it. i did it a as warn against it.
  2. Tragically, Spain cannot be defended against an axis attack, and take for granted axis is gonna attack very hard indeed as they need to connect mainland with North Africa to get supply up to 8. (4 armies, 1-2 tanks, 3-5 airfleet, 2 HQs plus italian anphifian invasion on Valencia, try to defend against that!)The sad fact that Franco HQ is not available in SC, the horrible initial disposal of troops, the 5 supply value of Gibraltar, carriers suicide if they try to fight, so spain and gibraltar are doomed. Unrealistic. Things would be very different with: - A port in Lisbon - Franco HQ available - Better initial disposal of troops

I didnt read what he said, some kind of spamming I guess, i dont think it was too serious but the battlefront people have to take care of the forum, this is a great forum and they dont want it to be spoiled but i do think that he could be temporaly punished, as a warn its enough. Just my 2 cents-justice-worth.
  4. tanker, I partially agree with u, playing with the AI is so satisfying, always wining, my selfconfidence improved a lot, and the more handicaped i played the more satisfying it was when i finally won, and that happened always. I was about to enlist the army and ask for a general star claiming that I WAS WINING MY COMPUTER!!! Man, U dont know what SC is till u play a human player. And we both know u will come here for reading the answers, but u are afraid of reading em, arnt u? U still wake up late at nite, screaming, the echoes of the lambs screams as they are being sacrificed still in yer head and u cant get rid of em, but i tell u, once u have beaten a top SC player online those screams of the lambs will be over. So, give it a try.
  5. Rockets CANNOT be transported, so u actually NEVER can deploy US rockets in europe or germany rockets in Africa (unless u have beat russia and theres a connection path). Rockets are not good, in russia u cant use em and neither attackin london unless u have air superiority in france, well, the only 1 that would support this kind of thing is Rambo as i read he deployed 11!!! airfleet in france last game against terif, bah, forget it, he didint even reach air superiority :eek: But if u deploy air in france tehn u are not doing a fast campaign in russia whats worst. So the only time to deploy em is when u are defeated, allies are invading germany and with air superiority, and tehn war is lost whatsoever terif says. Unless u have defeated russia, can deploy air and have lots of MMPs.
  6. i just wanted to post that i totally agree with terif, ive played sometime ago in myleague but it tool me like 15 minutes to finish a game of pool, SC will take much more im afraid..., so i had already decided not to join. If the system adm is able to change the settings, as u afirm zapp, i will tehn consider it. 1 tip, it would be good to see somehow SC in the ladder name or something, or at least that SC appear in the list of possible games.

Shaka SC is great and simple, now i would ask for SC2 to be more realistic and to include more things to make the game more dinamic&interesting whilst still being simple, although I must admit i dont take memory constraints in consideration when i think about how to improve SC. In this case, the auto retrofit, its a minor question, Mr. H. will, no doubt, choose the best possible ideas to improve the game without overflowing the memory. And i agree with you that the Manpower constraint would reflect history much more accuratly, would be a serious handicap to play axis tho.

  9. Edwin Im afraid all the carriers will be there, before 1.07 patch they could be elsewhere creating havoc and gaining experience due to the carrier-air bug. Now after 1.07 most of the time they are hiding and with no target to attack, a partisan in Ireland will be greatly appreciated by em. And i dont think SC2 is gonna carry the same bug.
  10. Jersey The frogmen activity could be implemented by means of sabotage, 1 option u could activate if u research Intel. I really would like to see Intel as a new tech available in SC2. Theres a post buried somewhere, started by Edwin if I dont remember wrong, where we discussed about Intel. i like more yer slipway idea the more i read it, im only concerned about the Bombers, Germany only way to the Atlantic is to build ship in French shipyards, all of them exposed to bombers, so i guess the only option is to build subs as the subpens are impregnable, im not gonna built a BB in france if its exposed to bombers. But, well, that was how it really was. Shaka im now lookin at the COS manual to find out that i had forgoten a lot about that game. There was also an automatic and cheap "refit" thats the "reinforcement" in SC. But its out of the question. In SC the retrofit is automatic and free when u develop a new tech level, so when u u purchase a new unit retrofit should be automatic also. But i prefer the multiple levels units and the option to upgrade em in a city, much more accurate and realistic, but feasible in SC2? Is SC2 going to follow the auto retrofit issue as in SC? When we are talking about a 5-10% price increment for every unit that goes above the limit, we are really talking in terms of economy constraint, how many airfleet do u think i can build at that rate? what other things am i sacrifying? BUT i have the option to sacrifice 1 thing to build another, i wanna do plan Z or to rule the skys, its up to me, and thats great. But i like yer manpower constrain also, only that i cant find out how to do it, maybe the economy constrain its easier to represent.
  11. Edwin With 3 carriers and a BB the partisan is dead in 1 turn and without casualties. If the brits have disbanded the corps they need another corps and to desembark it in the Dublin. The problem is if the corps has not been disbanded and is waiting outside Dublin to retake the capital, then to move out again, wait for another partisan to appear, the slaughter, then proceed to Dublin, and again and again, and the carriers and BB, gaining cheap experience. So, your solution of improving partisan defense is no good, if the partisan is only 5 points strong. If u allow partisan to have 8 hit points then i would say i like yer idea about an air defense bonus of 2.
  12. Bill Manpower: The axis pool of units will be composed of historical HQs, armies and corps units, but u decide when to produce em. Tanks&airfleet: Standard scenario for germany could be a pool of 6 airfleet and 6? tanks. But i like the idea of "what if", and tho allow to go beyond the limits, germany for example could be doing very well in the war and might want to increase production of tanks. I like very much your idea of the price penalty for going beyond historical, it allows strategics if u have the money to carry em out. A 10% penalty sounds good to me. Jersey John Fleet: U have found out a simple solution to the question. As Bill says, with no-stacking rules, i didnt even think about units in stage of construction. yer idea about slipways sounds very good to me. I would only add, what about Spain? not a single port, i think a port should be incorporated by adding a new city&port: Vigo, (Bilbao could be erased). Another question that arise to me its the bombardement on ports, should they damage/delay somehow the production? Sub pens in france were to well defended to be affected by bombs, but what about other ports?

U can pay for the unit all at once, if u have some units killed in 1 turn u could buy em cheap next turn if not then price go up and even more with strategic bombers (this could be an interesting approach to the strategic warfare issue) , this was the concept in COS, Could it be reproduced in SC2? dunno, it depends of more factors. About the tech advances, well, i must say i would like to see Tigers and Pz.IVs in the battlefield, but i think u have to consider here that u r investing in tech and u want the pay off, it could be considered as and upgrade on the chain production, the result: Tiger but with the hit points u payed for. As for the time...i couldnt say. Well, as u say, Jersey, a long long time for ships, the strategic in this scene would be much more important than now. Rambo, i think u are talking more about a mod, could be interesting.
  14. I thought this was the best to avoid brit units to get experience, but im thinking now about a trick allies could do, to move out from dublin and then use the partisan as a practice target, so maybe partisans should only show up if the unit in dublin is disbanded.
  15. yeah, Jersey John i remember reading some time ago your post about the idea of production queue, i dont keep track of things i read or who wrote em, so almost everything i say has been previously mentioned and i only want to make an statememnt of what i like. This idea tho would change the game a great deal, and im not so sure about how many people would like it, but the more we post it the more likely Hubert could take it into account . We are not talking here about what new research or new units people want for SC2, this idea, the weather idea, map and HQs issues are very important. Weather, map & HQs have been investigated and discussed with lots of interesting and original ideas. Production queue is simple , you like it or u r against it. how many people like it or are against it, thats the question.
  16. Of course Jersey John, Greece falls if u attack it hard enuff, but u have to use a lot of effort and give readiness to Russia enter in the war if u do it soon. The set up i exposed is to disallow the strategy of declaring war on Greece at the same time that Russia and make an anphibious assault with rumanian and Bulgaria armies (3 armies and 1 coprs needed) and tho taking Greece in 1 turn. Gilbert, of course these HQs doesnt exist, this is a post giving ideas for SC2. Hope they exist soon!
  17. Yeah, i know its great: "hmm,ive developed jets this turn lets buy 2 airfleets with the plunder!", "Kewl, subs level 2, there u r 2 brand new subs!". But, I like much more the posibility of using queues, thinking in advance what u r gonna need, chosing units from a pool of units. This pool represents all the possible units in the game. Its a joke to see now how axis can make totally impossible an invasion with a swarm of italian corps, not even bothering in buying HQs. Spain ,Finland, Sweden with HQs and the posibility to buy new units. I know this would change the game entirely, its a difficult task for Hubert to change the concept of the game. he didnt choose to do it in SC and now its tough to implement it in SC2, tho this and other great ideas in the forum would make the game much more realistic and interesting. This idea joined with the idea previously exposed by Edwin P. in his post about probabilities in the initial set up of the minors would make the game very dinamic.
  18. Great ideas, 1 problem about this game is the routine, no big surprises: i take france i embark 2 armies 1 corps i take norway, more embarks i take sweden, more embarks in med i take vicky... My 2 cents worth: Greece: With 1 HQ and troops near capital it would be a real nightmare, no worthwhile attacking. Instead, 1 army in capital (100%), the other troops 1, 2 or 3 hexes away from capital with some kind of probability. Ireland: If u let em have partisans it'd mean more cannon fodder for brits carriers, fleet and planes to get experience. Instead, partisans in dublin if brits disband or move corps away from dublin (100%). Italy: 1 corps in now unnocupied Bari city. 1 corps in Tripolitania instead of 1 army. Some kind of probability to move sub and carrier in Adriatic depending allied med fleet (higher than Edwin suggest) For every turn a UK or French ship is in the Adriatic sea Italian war Readiness should increase by 30%. Any allied transport entering the Adriatic should increase Italian war readiness by 100%. (agreed) Norway: If Germany attacks Sweden before Norway then Norway has a 50% chance to join the allies.(agreed) Sweden: If Germany attacks Norway then Sweden gets a HQ unit. If Germany attacks Sweden before Norway then Sweden has a 50% to get a HQ unit (the effect of surprise) (Agreed) Spain: Franco HQ (100%) Finland: Mannerheim HQ (100%)

  20. And u want to keep me another night awake with so much information, very interesting and great, some of em troublesome, issues. Most of the issues tend to make the game closer to what really happened, and that is great!, but, this game is simple, no micromanagement, easy to play, fast and funny, i wouldnt like the latter to be lost in SC2, so the problem is not to make the game more real but ALSO to maintain its playability. Stacking of units, for example, or to decide which 5 units we want to be supported by a HQ would make the game much slower, by adding some kind of micromanagement SC now lacks. Always a pleasure to read yer posts and Ive read some very good entries from people that doesnt post nowadays, maybe already waiting for SC2. I hope this brainstorming u guys are doing will help Hubert.
  21. yep, i agree, rusian winter, mud in SC2 could make the fight tuff for germany in russia. Now, in SC, russia is doomed, only option is hide in the urals and wait for patton to knock on berlin's door while the russian soldiers are knockin on heavens door.

I know the feeling, been trying myself to install COS in windows to no avail, as i said real good oldie i remember also it was a pain in the ass to move the HQs in russia in the mud seasons, they didnt reach the front line, lol, also with the option Caos in OKV (or something like that) they moved only 1 hex. Imagine now SC2 and with mud they could move only 1 hex and still doing their job giving good readiness to 5 troops, no need for em to fight in the front line. Romeo & Juliet...cant remember those generals sry, and West Side Story, yep, of course you are now talking about the allies invasion in france!
  23. well, i wouldnt have used that language but u hit some points. We all know the ladder is not very good but what counts its to fight a good war against a human opponent, AI is no enemy for a good player. i know now how terif has added up so many victories, counting 16 of u , 30 of zap and another maybe 20 from me, half of his victories against only 3 players. that ruins our stadistics pretty hard, aint it? lol

I see Jersey John that you are a great fan of good oldie COS, you have proposed a lot of things for SC taken from COS and a lot of em very valid indeed, but i dont think that this idea about the HQ is good, i like the HQs in SC much more than in COS, its a great idea from Hubert and i like to see em in the rear, not in the front line, imagine manstein and rommel in the front line trying to break thru, i guess they would cost a lot of MMPs too. I also think that many of the ideas of COS could work fine in a future SC2, but there are also great ideas from people, I think if Hubert takes some of the feedback you can read in the forum about improvememts for SC2, and im sure he will, it will be a great game.

Regarding my last game against terif i must say that Goering was executed for stopping air development and let the allies bomber the fatherland also Mussolini was hung for surrendering, never trust the italians too much... If i woulda continued the game germany woulda turned into Russia, with still finland and persia, egipt, axis minors and poland, 7 HQs and a lot of experienced troops i think i coulda resisted till the end, maybe with only russia land left, in that case, would that been a draw? or an allies victory?
