  1. This is the first game the german subs scaped!!! both of em... i must be more careful with that in the future. Perfect defense in france tho
  2. ANother german army killed, LC is allied again! Allies surrenders... FAst victory. NO big deal...
  3. Another german corps killed. Carriers and AFs attacking german units. Third UK AF bought.
  4. Ireland surrenders. 1 german tank and 1 army to 1 strengh point, damn! np they will die soon.

  6. French HQ is giving a hard time to axis. Another german army destroyed. Blood&guts. Radio Resistance broadcasting from Paris. More to come.

  9. Not at all. This bug really can help more Axis than Allies, it could be the best way when u plan to defend france. Initially it helps allies very little.
  10. what i say is: u can know what level of AA the enemy has just by aiming at the ports. U have played hundreds of games if u have got funny odds then u could guess the enemy level of AA and tho u can NOW guess that he already knew about the bug. From my experience i cant say anybody knew about it.
  11. ZAPP, of course u can always know what level of AA the enemy has. Just try to attack a port level 5 AA and u can get FUNNY oods: 5-1, 6-1...
  12. zapp, if someone playing as allies has developed AA tech before then i can assure u he alredy knew about the AA bug. And i think that the axis player could detect it: funny odds when aiming at ports... We all have developed AA as axis in one game or another, but thats not the same as saying he already knew about it.

The way i see this bug: AA another important tech to develop for axis. - germany now has to develop AA and to use german/french cities and to ATTACK instead of defend, LR also valuable for germany. Ive tested the bug with level 5 AA and well, i can say its a HELL of a difference...If axis is lucky with jets and has tech advantage then germany can postpone sealion for ages, UK AFs would suffer heavy losses. But i dont see how germany can get level 5 in AA and Jets, the way i see this germany can get some help if she decides to defend the West. how come nobody has detected this bug till now? cos nobody developed AA, AA tech was **** and not worthwhile, u spend only 1 chit there from time to time, in all my games i think the best AA evel i had was level 2 and i was lucky. So, i dont see this bug as DISCORAUGING as i didnt see the Spain gambit bug discorauging it only opens new options and thast good for the game.   14. im assuming, tho i didnt say, that gibraltar has fallen to axis, USA troops no longer can make an invasion on morocco. Malta should be taken by axis also to avoid some surprises and that way u can leave algeria and other cities without garrison.
  15. Ive played with this HR and i can say that this HR really can drive to a different game so i like it. We used also the russia readiness bid. - the MED now is totally open. Allies can hold Alexandria and take Iraq, mixed with an attack to the italian navy. If axis wants to fight in africa they could prevail operating AFs but leaving others zones unprotected, time would be critical. - On the other hand this HR grants Axis to land in Riga and could lead to a powerful Barbarrosssa op. - Allies can still launch op. in Norway but not in Morroco. But tehy not need to worry to keep units in USA/Canada. This rule helps Allies and tho couild make the game balanced. They could even abort a Sealion Op. knocking the brussels port. Bombers now more usefull. If u mix this HR with Russia readiness bid and u r playing axis u cant make many mistakes. Also, Russia will be weak and i would help them: some extra MMPs for them could help em to set a defense, Heavy Tanks level 2.
  16. New rules. Very Interesting game. After the worst begining in my whole career: - Poland didnt want to surrender - Terrible Sweden campaign - Too slow taking France - And some mistakes that increased russian readiness I decided to let ranger take Iraq whilst i concentrate all the power to take Vichy, Malta and Spain and taht way increase quicky the MED suply. He was ready to intecept my Vichy invasion force but he didnt expect i was going to take the risk whilst all his Navy nearby Gibraltar and the operation was succesful. Minors joined too late: Rumania in January 41 and 4 turns later Hungary, so i coudnt launch an early Spain campaign as i had expected, that slowed me down. I aslo decided to concentrate my effort in rockets. Just after barbarrosa: - 5 russian cities taken and advancin toward Leningrado - 5 rockets level 3 - 6 AFs level 1...still...plus 1 italian AF - AT level 1 Lets see what happens.
  17. yes, if u use Rundsted instead of Bock when u attack LC, army in city jumps to 0-4 (instead of 0-3 with Bock), thats why i use Rundsted. AFs dont jump tho, same odds 0-2. If u move the army and tho not in city u get 0-3 again even with rundsted so for KEY attacks testing is the KEY. [ November 07, 2003, 08:49 PM: Message edited by: Codename Condor ]

I do think its higher than 72%, from experience id say more than 90%, and i know i didnt take into account the low readiness of the defending corps, i didnt cos if u test it u see u get the same odds, even if u have a corps with 3 points of strenght left u still get the 0-2 odd(and that is what really counts, i dont care about readiness) cos now its a more experience corps or whatever, so i think that doesnt count in the end. But yes, u r right, u have to take into account previous results and so u have to multiply the probabilities, that way u should get the >90%.   19. Ive read some posts and i think people misjudge the probablities involved in some KEY attacks. For example, the german attack on LC. Its far from 99% of sucess. Lets see it. 1.Usual logistics: - 3 AFs 0-2 each (odds: AL/DL) - 1 tank 0-3 - 1 army 0-3 Adding up: 12 points of damage in average, and we only need 10 to kill the coprs defending Brussels. HC implemented the +1/-1 randomness in the dice roll, so damage can vary in this range: from 7 to 17. (17+7)/2 = 12 ,as we already knew, this is the average. posib: 7 8 9 | 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 probab:1/11 1/11 1/11|... Sucess: 8 bullets (10,11,...,17) Failure: 3 bullets (7,8,9) Sucess probabilty = 8/11 = 0.7272 = 72.7% and LC is taken in 1 turn. Far from 99%. With this same analysis u can guess the exact probabilty to other KEY atacks such as LC gambit (allies attackin), Norway,... Almost everybody uses those units to attack LC, i dont. 2.Logistics: - 3 AFs 0-2 each (odds: AL/DL) - 1 army 0-4 - 1 corps 0-2 Note: u can only get those odds if u tranfer Rundsted (rating 7) instead of Bock (rating 6), army and corps both in cities. Easy now: 7+17/2 = 12, same as before!!!!, and obviosly same sucess probability, 72.7%. Advantages: u r using the two tanks in poland in turn 1, very interesting to get some exp., and take poland quickly. U dont risk the tank in a french counterattack (with Billote that tank could be killed). Disadvantages: I cant see any!!, maybe the fact that u spend 8 MMPs more in the transfers.   20. ZAPP I really thought you liked/defended the Rome Invasion, as far as i remember u didnt want to forbid it. Im shooting with my memory, i havent checked old posts and, definately, im not gonna start digging to find quotes. About ZL and New Years tourney. i havent played for a long time, im not a constant player anymore. ZL requires dedication, which i dont have anymore: multiple burnt-out phases, no time to play,... Also, tired of sames moves, id like to play something different and for fun: new scenarios, limits units, house rules... New years tourney. i dont know if im gonna have time to play and i dont want to create 'byes' in the grid, but yes id like to play. I will wait to see if its possible.

  23. Doing Rambo Rome Invasion would be unfair and boring against you too. I would never lose if I was prepared and doing the Rome Invasion against you, believe me. SC is pretty much like chess. If the player with clear advantage does the right moves... he wins. Wanna try it? </font>
  24. Ive won some games using rockets and subs but they didnt have much to do with it. Obviously, rockets are useless and a bad choice. U want to win, u buy armies and invest in AT and u have a mighty army. I agree rockets are very good when they have 3/4 stars but u need to waste MMPs and time to get em to level 3/4, also u need a lot MMPs to buy em, how many can u buy? 4? it isnt worthwhile to buy 4 rockets and invest 3 chits. 1 chit in AT works for 40 armies/corps. When they have 3/4 stars u r defending Germany and u have air inferiority, u r running out of MMPs and the enemy is attacking your rockets with air and u r dead. If u win the game rockets have nothing to do whit it and they dont help u in the defeat. Rockets only good scenario. We need to use all the features this game includes, no paratroopers, no engineers,...and we arent using tanks, subs, rockets, bombers, only armies and AFs, so its boring. So i think Shaka limiting units is the way to go and in this case rockets/tanks are needed! Limit House Rules Unit Limits Nation ......... Air* ..... Ground** Germany ....... 4 .......... 35 Italy ............. 2 .......... 08 British ........... 2 ......... 12 French ........... 2 ......... 14 US ................ 2 ......... 16 Russia .......... 3 .......... 41 * Ground units are only Armies and Corps. ** Air units are only Air Fleets, not Strategic Bombers. So i think this is interesting and u can invent more house rules to balance the game.
