  1. Cover Armor arc to exclude infantry and only retarget at armor might work.
  2. In your title you said 0.02 cents . Don't you mean dollars?
  3. Russian tactic: Charge Tigers with a bajillion and ten T-34s. German tactic: turkey shoot with 5 Tigers until they get to point-blank range. At that point, armor and gun makes no difference, and the Tigers' slower turret is a big handicap. On the other hand, about a bajillion T-34s were killed in the turkey shoot phase, so it's pretty even. (Numbers from official soviet statistics )
  4. Are you saying it will be abandoned after the CO is KO ? Most likely you are... Then anything will take out a T-70 </font>
  5. Range is maybe 400m. Side shot. Can I kill, or do I need a *real* ATA (anti-tank asset).
  6. Nice sig, Panzer76. Here's another Bushism: "I know it's hard for you to put food on your family" (trying to sympathize with some lower class voter).
  7. If 4-5 75mm shells hit a light building, it should definitely collapse into rubble, therefore causing the high casualties you expect. I don't know why the shells didn't do the trick; are you sure it was that many?
  8. I just did a Tank Hunter fun game where a platoon of tigers attacks six THs. I got 3 THs with RPG and 3 with molotovs. I put the molotov THs together at a road junction in woods, a good ambush spot. I figured 3-5 molotovs at once would take out a Tiger. But when a Tiger blundered right into the inter-connected Cover Armor arcs, they chucked only 3 molotovs in 1 minute, all of which missed. The Tiger then killed one and forced me to hide the others two. When the Tigers reached the 3 RPG wielding THs, I killed 3 Tigers. They showed no reluctance to chuck and hit everything they tried for, including a moving, turning Tiger at 40m. The deflection was perfect (these are Veteran THs). One chucked from a crawl, which was funny, as 3 grenades zoom up in quick succession, so that when the first was halfway the last was just thrown. All three then hit a Tiger at 37m. The same TH then KO'd another with 2 grenades at 38m. I'm wondering; is it actually possible for an RPG to miss? I have never, in my entire CM experience, seen one do so. Also, when units go after tanks with grenades, they kill about 90% of the times that they hit. Why? And why do molotovs suck so much?
  9. You need to have a squad or HQ in a boat to have it move. Are the boats in the water? If so, they can't be boarded, if if they're very close to shore. Start them on the bank (they can move slowly on land) load em up, then move across the water.
  10. Yeah, remember 1 or 2 games ago- all 4 dead, one of mine gone?
  11. This is june '44, clear, not muddy, etc. The tigers are the middle model (Pz VIE) and the IS-2s are of the '44 early make. Both sides are Regular. So there is a 4-tank tiger platoon on hill A. There are two 2-tank IS-2 platoons behind the crest (out of sight) of hill B. I tested twice: the IS-2s hunt forward and shoot it out, and then I tested with the IS-2s using Shoot and Scoot. The first test (hunting), the IS-2s crest the hill and both sides fire. The Tigers' superior optics give them the better shots; 2 IS-2s KO'd, one survived a turret ricochet, and one was not hit. The IS-2s all missed except for 1 immobilizing hit. I timed their reload time at 29 sec. During this time, another is KO'd, with two ricochets on the other. It fires again and brews up a Tiger, then is KO'd. The Tigers clearly won. The second test (S&S) the IS-2s crest the hill en masse and both sides fire at once. 2 Tigers are instant kills and 1 IS-2 is KO'd, with one surviving a ricochet. The IS-2s reverse to reload in safety. They do so, then repeat for round 2. In this, the last 2 tigers are KO'd with first shot, and 1 bounces a shell off of a Russian turret. IS-2s win. Observations: The IS-2s always just CLOCK the Tigers when they hit, brewing up or instantly killing. The Tigers seem to stand a 50-50 chance of a turret ricochet when the IS-2s are hull-down (both sides were). The Tigers have a better hit chance though. The key is to Shoot and Scoot en masse with the IS-2s, to negate the reload penalty. If you do this, IS-2s are at least a match for Tigers. Also, they don't try to reverse away before firing because they get to do that soon anyway. And the IS-2s cost 584 points to the Tigers' 714.
  12. Yeah, if their transport doesn't get waxed and they are left alone while setting up...
  13. What is a good way to locate AT guns besides getting ambushed by them? Any player with a cranium will have them protected by infantry, so infantry scouts don't work. You could sac an AC or something, but they might not take the bait and that might be "gamey!" So how to do? Once located, mortars toast them easily, but their main strength is their ability to remain hidden.

  15. No need to be so cautious against a Stug; Just pop up from behind a hill en masse. You'll be hull-down, the front will be sloped back, inducing lots of richocets, and you might catch it in the side or side/front. Three virtually invulnerable T-34s beat an exposed Stug any day, except at very long range (800+m)
  16. These SP guns almost always make shots, but I don't see why. I have had ISU-152s take shots at Pz IVs at ranges of 300-600m at least 10 times, and they've hit every time! Why is this? They have low MV (600 m/s) and the normal Soviet bad optical quality. Yet they are a devestating force when used properly. If you hide behind hills and pop up with Shoot and Scoot to knock off a known enemy AFV, it almost always hits and almost always kills. It is also great for area firing against guns.
  17. Each terrain has strenghts and weaknesses. Rubble is best, then buildings, then woods, then rough, then scattered trees and rocky, then wheatfield and brush. The best cover is a good ole' hill.
  18. Excactly! I'm glad someone agrees with me!
  19. In my opinin, anything which isn't totally outrageous (like aborting to load autosave, using tanks to draw arty, etc) is okay. If you want to have a totally realistic simulation of the Eastern Front, you shouldn't be playing this, you should be working on a time machine. Any "game" has "gameyness," so just use tactics that best fit the game, not real life. It is up to the makers of the game to make it as accurate as possible. BFC did a very good job on CMBB, so play the game, don't try to make everything totally historical. In this instance, it's totally okay. If you have some units that are virtually invulnerable, as well as very mobile, and some that are very vulnerable, as well as immobile (tired), and you want to go a fair distance under fire, which do you use? Gamey means that you did something that wouldn't really have happened in WWII, but what decent commander would choose otherwise?
  20. Also might try sending T-34 to give ride to FT to speed things up.
  21. Yeah, if you put a 45mm battery in the rocky at the end of the first valley, they get side/rear shots if you wait for the tanks to pass by. Also, putting the KVs in the sort of arm of the woods on the left so that they can only get out backwards is good, because they always get rear shots.
  22. This might belong in Tips and Tricks but it's a DEAD FORUM    so i''l just risk putting it here. Anyway, what to do in this situation: You are the attacker in a medium cover map. You are fairly sure you have killed all the enemy's AT assets (maybe minus a gun in a valley or an IAT team). Both sides have reasonably intact infantry, and you haven't located the bulk of their's. How do you use your armored suprremacy to negate the defender's ambush capability? Obviously, once you find them they can be shelled and MGed, but how do you find them without losing a bunch? Also, what armored units are good for trashing dug-in infantry in woods?
