  1. Thanks for trying the scenario. I assume you were playing as the attacking (red) side? It's a tough one due to the map having a lot of open fields but it can be done. When playing as the defending (blue) side I actually had my entire garrison WIPED OUT by the AI, so if the AI can do it, which is not the greatest at attacking, so can a human. Do please have another go as the AI plans are quite varied.
  2. Hi All, If anyone would like to test my new scenario, "Neighbours From Hell!", please download using this dropbox link... https://www.dropbox.com/s/vauw5y8e084hdeq/Neighbours%20From%20Hell%21.zip?dl=0 It is Separatists vs Ukrainians and includes Blimey's Separatists Mod (with permission). The mod is the same one used in "The Boys Are Back In Town" so if you have that mod installed you don't need to install this one. It is playable as Red or Blue, has multiple AI plans for both, and includes full briefing graphics for both as well. I welcome all feedback, positive or negative. Thanks.
  3. Not at all. I am just spending a lot of time designing a scenario of my own which will also use the insurgents mod by Blimey. One tip by the way (and it's a minor one). If you had purchased the Russians before the Ukrainians for the Separatists side, the "pick side" screen would have shown the normal Blue vs Red icons instead of Blue vs Blue. This works even if the Russians are reinforcements, and even of they will never arrive.
  4. Had a brief go of it and it was fun, although I did not play to the end of the scenario. I noticed that some of the tagged mod files had both a [digital] and [separitistinfantry] tag. Have you done any experiments to see what effect this has? Does one tag override the other? I will ask Blimey for permission to use these same files for my own upcoming separatists scenario and will use the same tag "separatistinfantry" in the scenario so it does not clash with yours. It's playable now but I want to tweak it to perfection before releasing it - maybe add some more AI plans and make it playable as both sides.
  5. Hi all, What is the NATO unit symbol for a "reduced" or "understrength" unit? I think it's a minus sign somewhere but can't remember where it goes. Thanks
  6. Hi all, Is there any way to make an AI group walk rather than run? I want to simulate a unit walking to their next order, as if on foot patrol. Thanks
  7. That is good to know. I will do the same with my copy of the mod. My scenario "Neighbours From Hell!" is coming along nicely and will definitely benefit from this mod.
  8. Hi Blimey, I tried the mod and loved it. One question though. Some of the files have the tag "[digital]" as part of the file name. Did you add this yourself or was it already there? Reason I ask is, I was going to experiment with using a [separatists] tag in my scenario so that digital camo Ukrainians would look normal in other scenarios but gave up when I started renaming the files with a "[separatists]" tag as I don't know if a file can have more than one tag. Thanks.
  9. Great! Downloading now. I have a scenario I want to use them in already so will give them a go against some Ukrainian "standard" camo guys.
  10. As a matter of interest, some of those fields that look freshly plowed actually do have green crops on them but the green crops disappear when the camera is far away from them. Tthis is the effect on my machine at least - I was thinking of suggesting to BFC that they work on the LODs for these fields so they still look green when zoomed out. I am still playing around with the map so bear in mind that the crops in each particular field may not be the same in the finished map.
  11. Thanks for all your replies. I think I will stick with the Ukrainian place names for now. Here is a screenshot of progress so far - minus elevations which I will add in later.
  12. I decided to open the scenario in the editor this morning to try to fix this balcony issue and I have - kind of. Here's what I did. On the offending side of the building I repeatedly did Shift-Ctrl-Left-Click, which cycles through balcony types, until there was no longer a balcony there. I then did Alt-Ctrl-Left-Click to cycle through all door/window combinations for the whole side of the building - every floor - until I had just a door on the right side on every floor. I then did Ctrl-Left-Click on the floors that I didn't want any doors or windows to cycle through the combinations until I had a blank wall on all but the floor that is adjacent to the roof of the other building. On the very top floor I cycled doors/windows until there were two windows there, as in the original version. I then ran the scenario as "Blue" to see if this had the desired effect. The good news is that yes, the door now works properly, from a functional point of view. Units facing the door don't automatically walk out onto the roof. Aftern running 1 turn with the guys facing the door to prove they didn't automatically move through it I gave them a 2nd turn order to move onto the roof, and they followed this order no problem. The bad news is that the door is now just a hole - no door, just the door frame. If you can live with this graphical anomoly then this is a legitimate way of making doors onto neighbouring flat roofs without having to use a balcony.
  13. Reposted on General Discussion forum if anyone feels like commenting. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118540-mystery-uavs-over-paris/
  14. Hi All, This story has got me quite worried. We all know how useful UAVs are to the military but now that camera-equipped remote-control aerial drones like quadcopters are readily available on the highstreet and online for very reasonable prices, it seems only a matter of time before some terrorist group makes use of them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-31619099 The report doesn't say that this is terrorist-related but it sure seems suspiciously like terrorists as they are overflying places like the US embassy in Paris and various nuclear powerstations across France. Groups like Al Queda and Islamic State have shown that they can pull off sophisticated attacks, and if they now have the home-brew equivalent of UAVs, I think that is pretty scary.
  15. The thing with "Going to Town" is that the balcony actually doesn't exist - just the door, so even if you where aware that this might get your guys killed it is not easy to spot that there is even a balcony there. I wish the actual balcony wall had been included as at least then I could have a) seen it and b ) the guys moving onto the balcony would have had a bit of cover.
  16. Hi all, This may be the wrong forum to post this but I read today that "drones", which are effectvely commercially available UAVs, have been spotted flying over sensitive locations in Paris, such as the US Embassy. The report also said that last October drones were spotted flyng over several nuclear powerstations. This raises the prospect of terrorists using cheap, easily obtainable remote-control drones to scout out potential targets for terrorist attacks. This is the problem with all military innovations - pretty soon the enemy has them too.
  17. Because they could not see the enemy from where they were. Moving to this 2nd story part overlooking the flat roof would have given them a great vantage point, albeit through only the open door as there were no windows. I did not expect them to reach the door and then continue on through it onto the roof. I have a save showing the massacre if anyone wants it and knows of an easy way for me to get it to them.
  18. Hi all, I just rage-quit out of "Going to Town" when a squad of my Russians in the "Department Store" objective ran out of a 2nd floor door onto an adjacent rooftop and got mowed down. The designer had used a balcony to create the door onto the neighbouring roof but the effect is probably not what they intended, in that my men immediately ran out through the door onto the roof without being ordered to. Save game attached. [EDIT] Scrub that - file is too big to attach. I love this scenario but this invisible balcony deathtrap is not fun to experience in the final minutes of a battle. I would raise a ticket but can't find the link.
  19. I have played "Going to Town" at least 4 times now and been beaten by the AI every time. But I know I will come back for more! That scenario is like Stalingrad for the modern era!
  20. If playing single-player I will abandon a scenario if I think it has become unwinnable but generally I will continue with a few losses and hope for a Tactical Victory or something. [EDIT] Re. "How do you fight your temptation?" I just tell myself that the scenario difficulty has just been cranked up a notch due to losing some unit or other, but that will make victory all the sweeter if I can pull it off.
  21. That would be great! Thanks for doing this. Some sharing of files shouldn't be a problem, as the Separatists in my mind's eye are just Ukrainians who have broken away. Some captured and repainted Ukrainian vehicles would complete the picture.
  22. I really wish this mod had targetted one of the Ukrainian soldier camo patterns instead of the Russians as I want my Separatists to be fighting alongside their Russian allies. I am in the middle of making a scenario now in which Separatists will be fighting Ukrainians in a minor front away from the main Russian drive on Kiev, but potentially with Russian special forces types working with them either immediately or as reinforcements. I might even throw in some US special forces types giving limited support to the Ukrainians whilst the bulk of US and NATO forces focus on blunting the main Russian drive on Kiev. It would be great to be able to have all four "factions" in play at the same time.
  23. In a campaign you get back vehicles that aren't completely destroyed but during a batte you are stuck with immobilisation results turning your vehices into expensive pillboxes for the duration of the battle. If the intent of your question was to gauge opinion on field repairs being in a future patch or something, then I would be against it on principle as I really don't see the time it would take to implement being worth it. Having said that, if BFC's rumoured plans to expand the role of battlefield engineering are true, it's possible they could include field repairs in such an expansion, but I would imagine their focus would be more on things like bridge-laying and mine-clearing vehicles.
  24. Thanks - and I should have mentioned in my original post that the battle will be Separatists vs. Ukrainians with a tentative title of "Neighbours from Hell", so I did think the combatants on both sides might know who lived at a particular farm when drawing up their battle plans. I agree that it might look a bit goofy if intended to be played as Americans vs. Russians.
