  1. If someone can get offended because i say that throwing an A-bomb on top of hapless cities is not the best thing on earth, i can understand, i am often patriotic too, and i would get upset if Italy's deeds would have been put on the same level of Hitler's Reich. But this is different from calling me fascist just because i say that every murder, even if done with the aim of ending a difficult and costly war, has something wrong in it, i amo NOT a nazi-fascist, i am NOT anti-semite, and i really can't stand being called that way because of my previous posts, which i believe could be found a little offensive to USA patriotic citizens. And by the way, the fascist doctrine is for sure not against citizens kills, so that's a a wrong call anyway.
  2. Raising Partisans % isn't that effective: often a good player is able to cover every spot partisan-sensitive with a corp, eventually negating partisans uprisings... Maybe setting non russian (so even British or Free French) HQ in Urss to be at supply level 5 in winter turns will do the trick... [ September 19, 2003, 09:28 PM: Message edited by: Piumarcobaleno ]
  3. Welcome Panzer Joe, i personally find that invading USA is a truly too much gamey thing, so i usually (as axis) try to go for englan (sealion) or urrs-england, when i consider the game as finished. Obviously if you want the 'game won' pop up you still have to invade USA, but at such a stage in game, you could probably field 1-2 carriers a turn, so building up a massive air strike force isn't that difficult, even if the AI has massed corps everywhere.
  4. ["I find the views expressed by Oliva and Piumarcobaleno offensive and wrongheaded to a degree with leaves me shocked. Comparing the US use of the atomic bomb with the Holocaust is wrong on so many levels. The US during WWII was, along with the UK, the saviour of the human race. The age-old harangue of the anti-semite: that the Jewish people "control" capital is the position of the ignorant and the racist. There is no excuse for this type of comment, and it's revealing of the inherent brutality and vileness of the anti-semite permeates through the fuzziness generated by posting in a second language."] If the second paragraph is somewhat related to the first (and it seems so, given the last sentence about the second language), i believe you really misinterpretated what you read of my entries, CC Baxter. I ask you to show me where you can find anti-semite words in my posts. The only wrong level of a holocaust\a-bomb comparation is the political\winner's ethic one. In my opinion Nazis killed intentionally thousands of people, and the A-bomb equally did. I just said that killing someone is NOT a matter of good or evil, is just a murder; i don't care if you kill someone to end a war or to satisfy your racial hate, you are just another man who kills his neightbour. And please. don't say that USA's victory in 2nd world war has really 'saved the human race', because that is the kind of sentence that Hitler and Mussolini used to convince their people that the war was right.
  5. Please don't take it on the nationalistic side of the thing, Comrade and Jersey, i'm not insinuating anything, i just believe that even if hitler's intention were more evil, the result is that people died anyway. And please note that i haven't said that USA's A-bombing has been 'evil', or 'cruel', or has been done with the intention of amusing themselves with a mass-murdering attack. I'm telling that anyone, from Hitler to Stalin, from Churchill to Mussolini, believed to be the 'good one', and tried to convince his country of this; in every leader speech he tries to demonstrate that he is on the right side of something. In a similar way, the winner of a war sees his deeds as necessaire to the end of the conflict, and the ones of his opponent as only villain attacks, often unchivalrous and with something evil in mind. I do only find curious that every passed war has been fought and reported this way, so i must suppose that we do live in a very good world, where justice always defeats evil ones! Again, not insinuating anything.
  6. Well, do you really find that hitler's evil is more disturbing that Stalin's? He (and his followers) killed millions of people, not by race but by political thought; i do not believe this is any better than the holocaust. USA's A-bomb killed Japanese by hundred of thousands (with the explosion and subsequent radiation damages), i do not believe this is any better than the holocaust. 1st world war generals and kings sent to massacre hundred of thousands of soldiers, and because of their political lines even more citizens died of starvation and illness, i do not believe this butchers were any better than Hitler. Yes, i can kill you with a bomb or with a poisonous gas, but in the end, you are died and i am alive, so do you really believe that you had a better death if you had your rifle on hands? This is the kind of thought that lead in 1914 many young boys to believe that their emperors' war was the right thing to enlist for. In my opinion they are dead, like anyone else who now no more breathes. There's no heroism or evil in killing someone, it's just a murder. I believe there's no good or evil, it's just who kills and who's killed; and, by the way, i think that the largest part of the killed men would rather, if offered the chance, have killed their murder instead of becoming cold meat.
  7. Curry I didn't meant that the victors got wrong Hitler's ideas, but just suggesting that maybe if the war had been won (difficult in the real teamline) by Hitler's Deutschland, maybe today we would have been chatting about how drunk was churchill, or how Stalin's madness forced german soldiers to free russian people from his grip. We probably would speak of italian, french, russian (and jugoslavian, and everyone else's) partisans as they were only a bunch of terrorists, and we would probably have suffered from 9\11 attack from 19 jewish terrorists instead. I try to understand everyone's feelings and needs, and i believe that Hitler's kills are no worse than everyone else's, the only thing is he lost his war, and so he's blamed as a killer. Likewise, Arabs are terrorists when they blow themselves up in Israel, and jewish soldiers are peacekeepers when they shell palestinians refugee camps to get revenge. They use the same method nazis used: every german soldier killed by partisans equalled to 10 killed civilians. I'm not speaking of numbers, or trying to tell who was the most evil, or who has the better excuses to go on with his personal murderous path, i'm just saying that i can't stand all the finger-pointing against 2nd WW Germany, while almost every country in the world has done, is doing or will probably do similar things in his history. 8. Well Curry, i'm not Oliva so i'm answering you on my own, not on his behalf, but anyway... You can see the same effect nowadays: with all the respect i can feel, take a look at 11\9 and his consequences, what will world remember in 2050? That the evil empire of Saddam sent his prince of terror to crush the will of the peace-loving americans. But you can see that this is not the right point of view: it should be remembered that these last 50 years have been full of confrontations between jews and arabs, and that probably the way of life of a becoming-terrorist is much different from an european\north american dweller. I just say that history has to be written from the winner, because only this way it will let people still believe in their governments. Another interesting thing is that even The Duce's health conditions deteriorated much with the worsening military situation; and to relate this thread with SC, here's a SC2 wish: how about some setting for policies with conquered nations population? (it could, for example, affect plunder, partisans %, cities max efficience)
  9. Here i am. Truly sorry, but my grandmother died last week and i have to help my relatives in cleaning her house, being an aid to the man who is fixing the electric circuits and other things in order to sell the house, so i have very few spare time lately, and it will go on for at least another week i fear; if it's possible, maybe another player could play on my place for the cup, if this isn't feasible, i'll have to ask you to wait, as i said, another week at least; if these 2 solutions can't be found acceptable, well, i can't really do anything else.
  10. I hope i will be able do play pbem, never done it before!
  11. Not much experience here, and i'm also having a technical issue running SC lately, but if someone is needed,i'm more than proud to fight for Europe!
  12. Come on, Partisan, here isn't a political EU-or-not thing.. We are talking about the Great Clash: Europe vs. USA, the old against the new... How can our Balkanic friends desire to fight for the the Yankees? Time to understand that we too need unity! This obviously includes Russians, Rumenians (or Romanians?) and everyone else who cares to rally under the European Banner! Rise Europe, RISE!
  13. So, the teams for this heavy weight championship are? (I remember to Euro captains that i'm European, if a player is needed, eheh!)
  14. Well i have to say that my two quotes really sucks. i suppose i haven't said anything funny if this is the best i told.. Anyway, very proud of having been found fit for this [ July 16, 2003, 09:15 PM: Message edited by: Piumarcobaleno ]
  15. Yes, 40h. a week and about 6 weeks\year of vacation, plus some day expendable by choice to extend this 6 weeks somewhere, or to have a free day once every two month i believe.
  16. "At the present moment the Italian involvement in the Spanish Civil War appears almost completely excised from Italian history or treated with scorn and embarrassment. Just as the history of the partigiani and resistance movements is being actively undermined by the influence of the revisionist tendency spearheaded by fascist and post-fascist forces in and around the Berlusconi government, the sacrifice of hundreds of anti-fascists, to them, seems to count for very little." This is a quote from your linked file; i'm just saying that NO revisionist tendency in italy is sparheaded by fascist forces 'in and around' the actual government. I'm speaking of actual Italy, not forties one. And there are commemorations of 'partigiani' every year, and every town or city where anti-nazifascist resistance was alive has a shrine or a statue remembering their sacrifice for a democratic (or socialist) Italy.
  17. Just a thing, it'n not a 'real' problem, but i'd like to tell everyone that the "fascist forces and post-fascist forces" criticized in Disorder's link to italian partecipation in the spanish civil war are nowhere. Italy has NOT elected fascist parties, nor italians 'en masse' praise fascism. Such 'revisionism' i have nowhere found here in twenty years, exception made for a couple of "fascism fans", but i believe there's everywhere, in every nation on earth, a nazi\fascist\communist killing supporter. Maybe this isn't of anyone interest, but i do consider myself an Italian who loves his country, and i don't like to read such nonsenses.
  18. Maybe a "surprised" unit should immediatly lose half of its readiness (and keep that low until her next turn): an army that was expecting a long forced march across a terrain that found herself in contact with the enemy shouls be at least a little upset.. So since scouting range for armies is 2, they can't get surprised if they move one hex par turn.. it seems fair to me that there should be a "suprise penalty", but more than in strenght points, it should be related to readiness...
  19. Isn't it the War in Pacific form Grysby? The one Matrix Games is freewaring?
  20. Here in Italy "Barbarossa" means Red Beard, and the holy german emperor Frederick (I'm not sure of the english spelling), renowed for his artistic interest, other than for his political achievements, is surnamed "Barbarossa". So u can suppose barbarossa is to remember the "red" color of Urrs, or the great achievements of Frederick Barbarossa.
  21. I do find Kuniworth threads sometimes entertaining; i believe that there must be a place where some SC-adepts could post something "off the track", maybe a "not so serious Strategic Command Forum". Obviously lacking that, i find that: 1) Kuniworth has never worsened the post style or quality, he never used vulgar words, and neither he said things that even a not-so-expert Sc forum visitor like me could NEVER understand. 2) We obviously need someone who places some rules, and who works to keep them alive, but on the other side we need someone who who can shake us a bit, entertain us and at the same time make us less confident about ourselves and our ideas of straight and ordered life. 3) Sorry for the lacking english, it's difficult to express "toughts", but even more it's expressing "feelings" when it's not your mother language. Concluding, LET KUNIWORTH COME BACK! Heartily, Piumarcobaleno.
  22. BIG CONFESSION HERE! Rambo doesn't play against Kuniworth because... Rambo IS Kuniworth!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I'd like to see it by myself. CIA's men are only wagetakers. I don't like them. I don't need them. I don't need UN, too. I don't need anyone... Noo, nooo, don't take away my missile-launcher console, noooo....
  24. I have another confession: I am George W. Bush, and i used this nick to spy your secret war tactics, with the aim of using them in my iraqdollars war.
