  1. So I have a little 60 doing to some short harassing fire... Of course just as it ended the enemy is hammering me with a couple MG's behind a wall and some advancing halftracks...

Suddenly I notice that my mortar has not stopped fire and in a turn hammers the line of MG's and next turn devastatingly lands a couple mortar rounds directly on the halftrack!

I have really never used mortars other than as indirect fire weapons and was used to a 3 min minimum delay switching targets. They seem to be quite effective switching targets and being VERY accurate under their own control given good LOS.

Of course normally they would be very exposed for this kind of action but in this case they were in a trench....

  2. If player A purchases the upgrade for CMBN & CF, but player B does not, will they still be able to play by email together? In other words will the save game be compatible between the two versions?

I plan to buy it as I am an avid fan. Some of the guys I have talked into buying the base game and remain lukewarm about it may not.

    Very unlikely

  3. I did a qucik battle yesterday vs AI. I had a single panther (Elite/Fanatic) come over a ridge at full speed to discover an entire company of sherman 75's, 20 tanks at less than 150 metres. When I realised what I'd done I tried to withdraw it straight away but it was tracked quickley. I thought oh well, that panthers lost maybe I can take a few M4's with me. But no. The panther sat there, taking fire at point blank range from 20 guns and knocked out EVERY single sherman. On its own. It must have taken 100 hits. No damage to the armour or any of the weapons and no crew injured.

The panther was not hull down either.

Not really relevant, just thought I'd mention it.

Is this realistic? I know elite/fanatic is a bit gamey but surely not?

I can't imagine that's realistic... It's things like this that make me question the vaunted CM engine....

  4. Another option would be to have bailed out crews have Scarce levels of ammo in their small arms (how likely are they to be wearing or grab ammo belts when their vehicle is destroyed?) to inhibit their combat power while retaining the player's choice to have them hide, flee or fight. A 1 level Experience (not Morale) drop outside the vehicle might make sense too. Even if they've left their vehicle voluntarily to scout or Spot, they have no business (or incentive) seeking out or staying in major firefights. Self defence or rounding up enemy surrenderees they may stumble across is another matter and there are ample historical accoumts of both.

I definitely agree with both of these ideas
