  1. Another whining post from you, I think you made your point in the other thread, why start another one?

Whatever you may say, these questions are a thinly disguised moan again, and quite frankly I'm getting bored of it, as I imagine so are a lot of others.

    2 x Kingston 1024 MB DDR RAM 3200 (Mhz 400)

    Creative SB X-Fi

I have used the option to run on one cpu.

My only thing right now is that the skins looks a little blured?

Wow, almost an exact copy of my specs, the only thing being different is that mine is a 4800+ and I don't have Kingston Ram, but I do have two 1GB sticks. Oh, and the demo runs absolutely fine for me too.
  3. Well I don't understand it then. I was playing on the easiest difficulty too, which is supposed to give your units an edge, but they were wiped out in a matter of 2 minutes max!

At that stage I had lost the first defensive position, and some of the enemy tanks were almost at the bridge.

What is really odd though is that the first time I played this mission, I got a victory, but you know what, I didn't even know I had any reinforcements. I was so busy exploring all the commands and trying to defend the enemy side of the bridge that I never saw any reinforcement messages. I don't even know what happened to them!

Sure, being allowed to manoeuvre first would be nice and easier. But don't cha know, 1C and BFC are Evil!!! BFC are employing Rune, afterall!

They were trying to fire back, but their accuracy was not the same as the enemy, in fact trying to get them into position so see the enemy was the biggest problem. smile.gif
  5. Is it possible in the retail game to set our own arcs of fire for our units, like in the CM series? I'd like to be able to set arcs so that certain units engage the enemy at their optimum range, not at their maximum range.

If this isn't in the game atm, will it be possible to add it at a later stage? Thanks.

  6. Does anyone else think the the spawn for the reinforcements is very badly placed?

As soon as they appear I try to get them moving, but one by one they get destroyed by the enemy before they can get off the top of the hill. It's definitely a bad place to have reinforcements join the map.

  7. Is it possible to rotate units in the setup phase? Once I've moved them I would like to turn them to the facing I want, but I couldn't work out how to do it!

Oh, and I got a Victory in the SP Mission, only played it on the easiest difficulty setting though.

  8. Congratulations on an excellent manual, nice big fonts that my old eyes don't have to squint at, as per some other manuals.

I might be wrong, but is this extract correct?

Current battle statistics are available at all times; you just have to

deselect any unit (right-click somewhere on an empty spot on the map).

    Shouldn't it be left click?

I've only played through the tutorial missions so far, but I seem to think that if you right click on an empty part of the map with a unit selected it will move to that position, yes?

  9. If nothing else, this thread is a great source of information about past and present games for me to Google. smile.gif

I guess I may be the oldest as a young at heart 61, former British Soldier having served in an Infantry Battalion for 14 years, my favourite job in that time was that of a Mortar Fire Controller.

I'm a crazy hardcore gamer, playing just about any game I can get hold of, but mainly leaning towards War games. Played the full series of Combat Mission games and very much looking forward to the 2 new releases.

Currently playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R., a fantastic FPS/RPG game with some very clever AI enemy. It's one that's worth a look, but only if your rig is up to scratch.

This AAR doesn't represent what the game is like now.

The mission played in this AAR is now TOTALLY different.

Thing is I can't find many AAR's that are up to date!
  11. Interesting review, by his comments he has obviously been playing a copy of the game prior to version 1.04 which was released in the UK just under a week ago.

Oddly enough I came across the same problem with the booby trapped bridge, but as for crashes, I can honestly say I have not had a single CTD in all the time I've played the game in this last week.

I would imagine that 1.04 has fixed a lot of stuff and I know for a fact that a new patch, 1.05 is due by the end of the month, so I would assume that any more bugs that are out there will be fixed with this latest update.

    Very awfull game.

I don't think it's fair to call it an awful game just because you don't like it, or because it's too hard for you to grasp.

It's NOT BF2, or CoD or RTCW: ET, those are arcady games, this game has real depth and a tactical approach is required if you want to get anywhere. Run and gun doesn't work in this game like it does in the others I mentioned.

  13. Lt Bull: You can play the demo as single player by opting for the Coop mode. All you do is click on the AI button next to your name and it will change to user, leave the others alone and they will be your AI team. Now play the game just as a single player map.

Also you can adjust the enemy AI skill so they don't headshoot you every time you take a shot at them, it's in the Difficulty option, just use the Custom option to set the AI difficulty level.

  14. Yes I played the demo and was impressed enough to buy the full retail UK version of the game, as I posted in a thread yesterday in this forum.

I like it because unlike games such as Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, you can't jump up and down and strafe from side to side like a madman to avoid incoming fire and at the same time gun down your opponent with 3 accurate headshots. If you remain standing in this game and not in cover, you will die, as you probably would in real life.

The enemy AI can be quite intelligent (not all the time though) and attempts to flank you and most of the time uses cover quite well. True, the graphics aren't up to BF2 or CoD2, both of which I have owned and played, but the gameplay more than makes up for that. Also there is a briliant modding community out there making new maps, missions, addons and Total Conversion mods.

    I like it. smile.gif
