I'm assuming that the yellow number in the bottom right corner is the FPS! How do you get this to appear in your game? Thanks.

Maybe he touches them up in Photo Shop before posting them here.Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan:I have all the settings at max and I'm not seeing the game as beautifully as you are.

Had a CTD today, was playing the Allies Campaign, St Loe mission. The game was paused and I was just moving around the map using the mouse to look at my units.
I have an AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ and have applied the two fixes that are stickied above, (the Optimizer and the other application). I have also checked the box to use only 1 processor and unchecked EAX even though my sound card is ok for that.

I'm fairly sure that I heard audio prompts in my game when getting reinforcements. What I'm not sure about is whether it was just in a Campaign mission or in a Battle mission too!Originally posted by K9crump:It would be nice to have a audio prompt when Reinforcements arrive. There has been times when I got them and didnt notice, because of too involved with battle.

Not flaming you, but if the infantry are out in the open, then that's your fault. Move them and put them into cover, if you want them to stay in that position press the Hold Position button, if you want them to move try moving them behind cover, crawl if you have to, but if you have to move them in open ground, get them to run like hell via the Double Quick button and have another squad provide covering fire.Originally posted by lark68:The infantry always seem to be out in the open no place to hide and their AI is bad it's like taking lambs to the slaughter.
I have played the game for a few hours now, and am finding that the more patience you have and use of the ground level camera position enables you to make better decisions about how and where to move your units. This way of playing may not suit everyone but it is ideal for me, I like to take my time, last night I played one mission in the Allies campaign that took me nearly two hours to complete.

That's odd, as a lot of people are playing the game and having lots of fun with it, me included.Originally posted by longbore:The game is unplayable as it is...

Just a thought, once you have issued the rotate command, maybe if you then click on Hold Position, that might keep it facing the way you want it too.

In the allies Campaign there is a mission called Avalanche and I was close to losing it, but used 3 Infantrymen to crawl all the way down a tree line to take out a tank that my A/T's couldn't get at, they also took out a few pesky Infantry that were sniping at my men. Then to win the mission I moved a A/T gun forward and took out the 4 remaining enemy A/T assets with area fire.
A lot of this was done by zooming down to ground level to see what my men could see and what was the best route to achieve my objectives. It just takes a little patience and planning.

Don't know, haven't tried it, I'll give it a try later.Originally posted by savoldi:Athkatla, can you run it using both cores now after you updated?
Edit: Well I tried a Battle and a few minutes of a Campaign, and it runs just as well with both cores selected as it did with one. If this changes in the future I will post it here.

First of all, I'm really enjoying playing the game, it's a whole lot of fun and satisfying when you see that Victory screen.
I am currently playing the Allies Campaign, and have just won a victory in the Avalanche mission. Boy was that fun, took me well over an hour to get a victory though.

After I had taken the hill then cleared out the enemy to the west, I was pretty thin on the ground and not a lot of ammo left, this wasn't a problem though as there was plenty of ammo and weapons laying around rerady to be picked up.
I was waiting to get the Victory screen but it didn't happen! When I checked my orders again, I saw that I still had to clear out Cherbourg, damn, and with not many troops.
To cut a long story short, I sneaked a few guys down through the hedge rows and took out a nuisance of a tank with 5 bazooka rounds and grenades, then I just had 4 A/T guns to take out. How I thought? I had captured two A/T guns so I brought one of them forward a little until it came under fire from those guns, the shield held up well, only one of my crew got killed, but I wasn't able to fire at those guns, not in LOS. So I tried something else, I loaded HE ammo, and ordered them to Area Fire at the enemy guns, success! I took out all 4 gun crews and victory was mine.
So to a couple of points I'd like cleared up, what, if any is the advantages of having a Staff Squad in your OOB? I notice that it has a medic in it, does this medic actually go round healing people, or is it abstracted?
Secondly, at the end of each mission in the Campaign, you get to award your heroes with medals, promotion and experience points, I did this every time, but then where do these soldiers go? I thought they would be with me for the next mission, but no, I get a complete brand new set, no vets to be seen!
Anyway, great fun so far, I'm sure with patches and mods this is going to be on my HD for a very long time to come.

I'm quite happy with the way the game is running now, super smooth and having lots of fun with it.Originally posted by savoldi:You might want to try getting rid of the dual-core optimizer. There have been complaints about it on the AMD forums concerning poor game performance and stutters. I've got an AMD dual-core system myself and no optimizer installed and I'm running the game fine.
I'm not certain, but I think the driver update the other poster is referring to may be the one that BF advised us to install along with the Dual Core Optimizer.

I had a '1 shot 1 hit' success on an A/T gun with a bazooka after sneaking up to it within about 20 yards.

Just for feedback, I have a AMD Athlon 64x2 4800+ Dual Core Processor, the demo ran fine without me having to check the box to disable one of the cores, however the full game didn't! It was practically unplayable, very, very jerky and horrible to watch like that. I exited the game and checked the box to disable one core and the difference was amazing, the same mission now runs beautifully and it has quite a lot of units in it. I might add I also have the Dual Core Optimizer in use and the other application we were advised to use in the sticky in this forum.

Just wondering if the game supports SLI? I haven't seen anyone mention this before and would like to hear BF's take on this. Thanks.

I have previously used this for another game, can't remember which now, but my question is, do I have to install this again for ToW?

I too had a lock up last night in the mission where the British Airborne have to take 3 bridges. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Del out of the game to cancel the exe. I hope this isn't going to become a regular thing!

Not for me it isn't! When I clicked on my downlodd link I got the screen that says I am trying to download the game but it isn't ready for download yet!

As evening draws in here in the UK (it's now 17:37) I am thinking that if we don't get the d/l email within the next 6 hours, most of us Europeans will have to be in bed by that time until probably 7 or 8am on the 20th due to work commitments etc.
If the email comes after that time, then theres a good chance we won't get to d/l the game we pre-ordered before the rest of the world get to d/l it, bearing in mind that BF said it still would be released on the 19th (US time).
I'm just hoping it does come in the next 6 hours!

Shut it yourself, all you have done on here is whine, whine, whine, and this thread is just another expansion of that.Originally posted by crazylegsmurphy:Shut it Athkatla...I'm asking questions here, if you can't contribute something to this, then keep your comments to yourself please.
All these points have already been made so why bother going over them again.
Also as the other poster stated, a lot of these questions could be answered by reading the pdf manual, if you're too lazy to do that, why would you expect someone to answer all these questions for you?
